So, i've recently decided to buy Vanguard. |
|
|
You got a free trial account so that is why you didn't get the 30 days.
If you would have started all over another another account you would have gotten the 30 days. |
|

I had much the same problem when moveing from trial to full game and i contacted SOE and they replyed within 12 hours or so and not only did i get the full month but they added 7 days on to it. |

Yeah, I'm not sure how the free month works, but as the previous poster said, let customer service know. They'll take care of you. |

The free trial should not count towards your box purchase, even if that 'box' is digital it should always come with a 30 days free after purchase of the retail code. That's for every mmo that offers a free month with purchase. :) (,,,)=^__^=(,,,) ![]() |

Alright thanks everyone. |

free month only comes with the creation of a new account. If you use the same account as your trial, then you will not qualify for the free 30 days. Just create a new user and login, and you would have gotten your 30 days. |

http://vanguard.station.sony.com/isleofdawn/ "** Entering billing information will terminate the 14-day trial, and you will lose the balance of any unused free play period game time. In addition, if you subscribe to Vanguard Saga of Heroes, you will not be entitled to any game time that may be included with the purchase of certain versions of, or other offers related to, Vanguard. Sony Online Entertainment does not ensure continuous or error-free access, use or availability of any game content, feature, gameplay or server and may change, modify, disable, suspend or remove any such content, feature, gameplay or server at its sole discretion." Always read the fine print when buying an SOE product, as they'll try to nickel and dime you every possible way they can.

I got the free 30 days after the trial. I bought the box though and didn't do a digital purchase... |

You can blame SOE cause you dont like them but all the trial games offered have the exact same disclaimer. The reason for this is because the free time offered is the time you use to test the water out and all games no matter what report that anyone who quits and doesnt come back is statistically under the 1st 2 week. So if you try the game and then buy it there is no need for More trial time. Many companies are still considering shortening the initial box time to 2 weeks as well but we will prob never see it implemented. |

Not getting a free 30 days after a free trial is pretty much how every company does it. Like other people have said: you only get the free 30 days on creation of a brand new account. But then expecting simple things such as logic from a SOE hater is asking too much. You can try complaining, SOE hands out free months for Vanguard a lot. If you dont get one then sorry but thats how free trials work. You get to try out the game for free at the expense of the free month. |

After you've bought a game, the included month isn't exactly a trial. To say, you've paid $50 to buy a box (or considerably less now that the game has been out for a long time), but in order to actually play the game, you have to pay another $15 immediately, would be quite shady. Surely it's better to say, you can pay $50 to buy the box and that includes the first month subscription than to say, the box is $35 and you'll have to separately pay a $15 subscription later before you can play. The box explicitly says on the front, "30 day game subscription included*". The fine print is on the back. "30 day subscription included for new accounts only (excludes existing Vanguard: Saga of Heroes and station access accounts)." And then there's some more fine print. And it's all caps in a tiny point size, to make it hard to read. Presumably if you've done the Isle of Dawn free trial, your account is now an existing account. But what's really ridiculous about the Vanguard box is the buddy key. It comes with a free 10 day trial that expired before I ordered the box. |

The 30 days only comes with a retail purchase (either a box or digital download like from Steam). You can just download the full game from the Sony Station launcher for free. After the trial, you just subscribe to the game, and download it for free from the launcher (so, no 30 days included, but you're not paying for the client). |

They don't sell boxes or digital download anymore for Vanguard. You "just" have to pay the subscription. You got a shelfwarmer, a leftover. But contact customer support anyway. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

Please refrain from using my thread for bashing, all i wanted to know was if i wasted my money or not. |

hey, I was wondering if the case the OP is talking about occurs only when you upgrade the trial account with a retail key? I mean, if I play the isle trial and then decide to subscribe to the game directly (paying 15$), will I have to pay another 15$ afterwards in order to get 30 days of playtime? also, I'd really like to know if it's possible to use an SOE gametime card to activate a trial account with 30 days of playtime.
thanks |

Contact the support the chances are good that you will get those 30 days. It is a shelfwarmer in the sence that there are no more boxes made. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

If you bought a retail box, there should definately be an activation code in there (or printed somewhere on the manual). Just add that code to your existing Station account (the one you played the Vanguard trial with) and you will get your 30 days. I bought the Collector's Edition last month for $20 at my local Gamestop store (they still had one from 2 years ago), eneterd the code, and got my 30 days, plus all the Collector's edition items. |
|
|
End of story was that i was given 3 days. |
|

I recently bought a boxed copy of Vanguard and used the 30 day code on a new account. when i first set up the account there was no time charged to it. I contacted SOE chat and they explained that they needed a CC to verify my identity.
I entered the CC against the new account I got 30 days "free" alotted to the account. It set me up on a billing cycle for first charge to be in April I immediately canceled my sub. and was given 30 days.
If you buy a box do this ....not sure about ops issues. |

Ahh, you already had an exisitng Station pass? If that's the case, then the 30 days out of the box are irrelevent.. And you didn't have to buy the software, you could have downloaded it from the Station Launcher for free. |
