Mythic's Mark Jacobs looks into the past, present and future of Warhammer Online in his Winter’s End State of the Game letter.

It’s only March and it’s been a very hectic year already for us here at Mythic. The last six months have seen an awful lot of excitement and change here at the studio. We’ve launched another successful MMORPG but this time in the face of the worst economic conditions that most of us have ever seen. We’ve done some things that we are very proud of, some things we regret, and some things that we are very excited about going forward. As I’ve said about Mythic throughout the years, we are not perfect but we will always try our best to create great games. So, without further preamble (or simply ramble), here’s my Winter’s End State of the Game with a quick peek at the past, the present, and a much deeper gaze into the near future.

Right now we're in the middle of our first LIVE expansion for WAR. As part of that, we have just released our biggest patch yet for WAR. While I am a long-standing member of “There is no such thing as a miracle patch” club, this patch cycle (1.2) and the one that will follow it (1.3) represent a huge number of changes, bug fixes, and additions to our game. Given the proximity of these two releases, I think it is pretty safe to say that these represent one of the largest (if not the largest) amount of new content, tweaks, adjustments, etc. to any MMO over the course of several months.

 All I have to say is: my life has been so much better ever since I quit this game. Now, if only I could get my $50 back.

Far too much spin for me to take seriously. Speak english instead of corporate America next time. Especially if your target audience consist largely of jaded gamers.

Sorry to disappoint you, fanboi. I played ever since Open Beta. Leveled 3 toons. The game is clone junk, Mythic is too damn full of itself and much worse are the immature players that play it.

Hey Mr. Troll,  What are the names of the toons you leveled?  I'd like to take a look and see if you have an active account.  If you haven't played since the latest patch, you don't know what the game is like right now.  they are offering you as chance to check it out for free... maybe even freshen up your troll material so you will quit ignorantly posting about "problems" that haven't existed for months.

Everyone else.. don't take all the troll posts to seriously.  There is a 10 day trial for both new and existing subs.  Check it out for yourself.  This game kicks ass.  You should at least see what you are missing while it doesn't cost you any thing.  At the very least you can have some new ammo to come here and attack the game with.

Amen.  This is pure Sales and Marketing Bullshyt.

Just talk to gamers as a gamer next time.  Yeah the game is improving, whatever, just cut the corporate capitalist bs and talk like a normal person .

Salvatoris' post is mature.

On-topic, 1.2 is an improvement although some of the balancing seems to have gone the wrong way with one OP class getting more love (WP) and one getting nerfed out of existence (WE).

Hopefully 1.3 will redress the balance although by then T4 is going to be full of Choppas and Slayers which will mix things up a bit.

Tomb Kings is the Next Big Thing (tm) but what I'd really like are some more capital cities to fight over.
