Well after playing darkfall a while i realized it has just as a boring grind as every other mmorpg... Im looking for a game that doesnt have grinding but does have immersive character quests. im also looking for good pvp, with unique templates and such.
My main question is, how much am i looking at to get involved in this game? is there a combo deal somewhere? |

You can get the entire trilogy (But doesn't include Eye of the North) for 30 bucks. Well, after looking for it, I can't find it. I guess it was a deal at one time, sorry. But 50 bucks is still reasonable for all three. :O |

Pretty cheap to get as far as im aware, and really you don't need to buy all the expansions at once, unless your only going to play PvP rather than develop your own character.

It should be noted that an "expansion" in Guild Wars is very different from the usual MMORPG notion of an expansion. The level cap when Prophecies was first released was 20, and the level cap is still 20 after Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North. Getting additional campaigns doesn't make you stronger directly, as they didn't release higher level gear, etc. Having more skills available makes you more versatile, and thus kind of stronger, I guess. Heroes from Nightfall or Eye of the North are considerably stronger than henchmen, which makes it more comparable to having other players in the group if you don't actually have other real players. Using the PvE only skills, especially from the Eye of the North, does make you stronger, but those are disabled in PvP and unnecessary in PvE. They basically serve as PvE cheat codes so that incompetent players don't get stuck somewhere and end up unable to see the rest of the game. There isn't really an intended order among the three campaigns, as if you have all three, you can start a new character in any one of them and then take that to the others later. Most content assumes that you're at the level cap, so beating one campaign doesn't make you way overleveled for the others. If you're familiar with WoW, imagine if the game had only had the Eastern Kingdoms at release, and then added Kalimdor a year later. It's not higher level content, but just different content for the same level range. Furthermore, it's not a case of players vacating the old content to go do the new; by now, it's all old content. If you're looking to do either PvE only, or else both PvE and PvP, buying the Guild Wars Trilogy is probably the thing to do. That costs around $50 and will get you all three campaigns. Note that it's a one time payment only, and you don't have to also pay a monthly fee. That will get you everything except for Eye of the North, which you could buy cheaply later once you've had enough of the campaigns. Eye of the North isn't nearly as good as any of the campaigns, anyway. If you're looking to do PvP exclusively, you may wish to get the PvP access kit instead for $20. That won't unlock very many skills for you, though if you have a particular build in mind, unlocking those particular skills first doesn't take too long. If you want to play as all the classes and have a lot of versatility, it could take a long time to unlock everything. There are also skill and item unlock packs for $10 each. To get all six of them plus the PvP access kit would cost a total of $80. That will immediately unlock everything for you, so that you'll immediately be as strong for PvP purposes as you'll ever be. |

Guild Wars is definitely the game for you.
1) You'll struggle to find a "kill X amount of Y" quest in the game. Quests are fun an missions are immersive (they include cut-scenes in which your character stars) 2) PvP is skill-based, meaning you won't spend years grinding for gear. 3) You can pick up the Trilogy or the Complete Collection for extremely cheap these days. The campaigns/expansions add to the game instead of raise the level cap like in most games, so take your time to enjoy them and don't feel the need to process as fast as possible. |

ok, remember from the start there is only ONE expansion for Guild Wars and thats Eye of the North
The three campaigns are all stand alone, but come together as one big storyline
The Trilogy is available on Amazon.com for (as said above) $30, which is cheaper than it currently is here in the UK, but adding Eye of the North rounds it all off and sets up for Guild Wars 2 aswell |

This is a great game. Pick up a copy of the first (Prophesies) campaign on ebay or amazon for $10-15 bucks. It's well worht the price of admission. If you like it you can get the expansions for the same kind of money. Try the free trial first. There is quite a bit of content for the $$$$.
I don't know where else you can get this quality in a game for $15 and no sub fee except in GW. |
