Today was a sad day.  Both my 'main' toons, a White Lion and a Witch Hunter got parked and will prolly never see light of day.  The Choppah class is so overpowered that both of these types are useless now. 

My WL might get a swing in before he dies, but the WH dies almost immedieatly as soon as he enters battle.  3 Choppahs with thier wide AOE attacks kills both in seconds, sometimes quicker.  In fact, the only classes you can play now in SC are ranged, (which die in an instant when the choppahs reach them), or tanks. 

Maybe when the choppahs are nerfed back to a reasonable level we can bring out the WL, WH and others, but untill then, there is no use playing them.

All scenarios I've played today have consisted of like 70% choppas on the destruction side, they are everywhere lol.

They are fairly easy to kill but if a lot of em surround you your DED!

Yeah, I remember that from DAOC, they were always doing this to start then nerfing them later, with little love ever given to existing classes.

(except they reinvented archers, stealthers about 4 times each I think)

I like the fact that Destro is overpowered. To hell with balance. Makes for a better challenge and requires thinking and strategy from the Order, not just charging to battle all out. It's even in the original WH lore. 

Order prevails when it's in the defense, keeping formation and slowly moving forwards. Destros are build to charge, quickly take BOs but lack the ability to hold them.

That's why i play the Order, it's harder, but makes for better teams and demands coordination.

Thing is the new classes arn't new classes. They were left out at launch. Because they have no clue how to balance the classes and apperantly still don't.

Your full of shit the BW is the most overpowered class in the game right now and that is an order class.

Eng out shine thier counter part as well.

 

Mythic has a hard on for Order, not chaos.

The only thing I get from all of this is that it is to hard to balance 24 different classes and try to fix a game that was released before it was finished.

You do know that the Choppa and the Slayer are almost ideantical... I don't think there's a bias for Destro going on here.

Just bad design?  A running wall of AoE spikage?

 

Wasn't mythic gonna tone down the insta-gibs?  They never seem to learn.  I hope this is not rift all over again.  I don't even play anymore and I hope that just because its so sad.

Oh man, 3 melee dps vs 1 melee dps! You should have been able to tank all 3 of them and then kill them all! God! What was I thinking?!

Like when you're surrounded by 3 WEs or WHs or whatever else DPS class you survive that easily.

 

We're talking about glass cannons here folks and in T1 there's like 10 of them in each scenario.

You honestly think this situation will endure up to T4 ? :P

Wasnt it the same with Kotbs and BG ? Everyone had one...for 3 days

Heh WH extinct thats a good one. They're a very powerfull class atm and do what they're made to do extremely well, also people do play careers they like the look and playstyle of as well.

 

 

Of course the min-maxers will always be chasing the FotM classes or crying nerf to them.

I will admit it's a bit harder to play the sc's and even orvr with my WH, but not impossible.  If you think the ratio of slayers and choppas is bad now, wait until they release them to everyone.   Give it a month and things will balance out.  I found that my Swordsman can go toe-to-toe with them.

The issue is, it is pretty much no difference wheter it is 3vs5 or 3vs1. Their massive AoE kills everything in their surrounding too fast.
Fighting them with more melee is futile and it is not easy to keep range with ranged DPS classes.

People are way to fast in passing judgement on these two. Once AE damage from Engineers, BWs and Sorcerors is fixed in T4 I am willing to bet that the new glass cannons will complaint in the same way as other MDPS - that it is hard to close range without dying in a fire.

The OP is just trolling since his two mains - if they really are mains which I doubt - should be in T4...so how can he have felt the defeat of alot of Choppas there? The answer is that he has not and is basing the assessment on T1 and potentially T2 scenarios with 80% Choppas and Slayers in them. And that does not say squat.

All the complaints right now will either die down, or be adjusted to. With new classes being introduced, did you really think the game would stay exactly the same as before? of course not. So honestly, if you run into a group of 3+ choppas, you really deserve to die. You obviously aren't going to survive. Even on my slayer, I wait for the choppas to run by, then I rush in after the squishies to do my dirty work.

 

Thats like a melee DPS running in on a tank and complaining that you cant kill him easily enough. Sometimes you need to learn to ignore the tank and kill what you are made to kill.

Just for the record, in spite of the nastiness spilled out by self-righteous fan boys here in MMO land, I have enjoyed the game till now.  And anyone who posts how they play their WL in SCs now and do fine in spite of the wall of Choppah AoEs is.. well... not telling the truth to blunt.

I've been trying different tactics to counter this and it comes down to this:

White Lions are dead in SC.  They have to get close  to melee, and the Choppahs kill them so fast you can't even back up.  The lions have it worse, I'de watch them try to run PAST the choppahs to get to squishies behind, and they don't even make it half way into the AoE cloud and they just keel over and die. 

Witch Hunters are even squishier, so the only way to keep them viable is to stealth and run way around the main combat and try to pick off healers and such.  While this sometimes works, most of the time they are sneaking or running, very little time killing, which means very little in the way of renown.  And as always, as soon as they are hit by the AoE cloud, even from one Choppah, they quickly fold up and die.

I'm still not sure why mythic thought this class with it's overwhelming radias of AoE damage was a balanced idea, but I for one have had enough.  These were the two classes I wanted to play in this game, and they are both useless now for SC and heavy RvR, so I've just cancled my sub to the game and moved on.

I don't know why its a surprise to anyone that Choppas (and Slayers) are going to be the head class choice for a long time until they nerf them.


Mythic put a lot of time hyping the release of these two classes. The fact that the Choppa was long overdue (six months) from launch and the Slayer was taboo at first to touch, made their release critical. Who'd wait six months for a promised Choppa class, only to have it suck and not pwn everything in sight? People would unsub immediately. Who'd resub to try the Slayer, as awesome as it sounds, just to have it weeny sized and doing normal damage? You'd have a huge mutiny, especially after these being things original subs weren't asking for in the first place. (You know.. casting lag fixes, siege crashes, etc etc?)

Those of you who are suffering now, you have to know that a nerf will inevitably come as waves of Slayers/Choppas are made and take over areas. It always takes Mythic time to get around to seeing a problem historically, so just die for a bit now. They won't be nerfing them until they have all the other content in the game, because few would stick around if everything was just status quo.
