They're just pissed off that Darkfall turned out to be good and their own MMORPG is so crappy they need to hang out in the DARKFALL forums and try to slander it to make them feel better about how bad their own mmorpg is. |

Signus, in the last 3 topics you responded to (that I have seen, there are probably more) you lash out at the "you people" and especially the posters of this forum section. If you are so appalled by the people here, then why do you torture yourself by visiting these forums? Now in this case, I can imagine why you wanted to post and point out the fallacy here, but apparently it does still sicken you. So why bother? |

as braindead as some random darkfall fanboi spamming the world's forums for the past year? or as braindead as a community manager from the darkfall official forums, attempting to do damage control?
priceless. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

LOL nice attempt saying this is IGN reviewing this game...this is nothing more then a blog. Aventurine is too poor to give out thier games to any major review companies. Maybe even scared at how badly the game will get marked by the companies as well. |

I find it wierd that alot of darkfall fanatics hype DF to the point of stretching the truth. And yes the exchange of information is natural to social animals but to lie and give miss information for the sole purpose of having others believe in what you do. Is a self esteem issue and not the call of the wild. Also "community" drive instills conformaty with the crowd. Ie Sheep mentality.
Care to say what all these lies are Monkeybone? Sheep Mentality? Please! Your just the same as every other helpless troll on here, your just looking for an easy target to vent your anger, let me guess SWG vet? Yea I know I was there once too.
Again way over your head. And yes what most consider sheep mentality is following the crowd. Thats what sheep do. We all have it so i wasnt calling you sheep mentality (dont know why you got offended). Swg vet? Nope alot older, even older than UO vets ive played mmorpg for a long time. See im an actualy MMOG fan. I like em all some less, some more. And no im not venting my anger. Dont have any. But you on the other hand...... I love psychology so thats why I mess with forums and mmogs. Darkfall is a very ... interesting community. |

Some of you are missing a very important detail about this article. The writer never states this is a review, the piece is not called a review, there is not a 'score' given as you would expect from a review. This is simply a First Impressions article as stated. An opinion of one person's first couple of days in Darkfall. To call the writer 'biased' is ridiculous. The author points out negatives, but generally is happy with what he sees and has experienced. OMG BIASED! Before you start proclaiming such things, put your own bias in check.

"They're just pissed off that Darkfall turned out to be good and their own MMORPG is so crappy they need to hang out in the DARKFALL forums and try to slander it to make them feel better about how bad their own mmorpg is." Irony I never put faith in any reviews, most of them are either bought off by publishing companies or they are part of a fanboi squad to a particular product or brand name. This is what happens when the vast majority of humanity are a bunch of brainless morons blindly following corporatism instead of thinking for themselves. Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place. |

it's mindboggling. |

it's mindboggling. Sorry, but Darkfall didn't become a better game than most mainstream MMOs, despite following the 'pure development' path... http://kck.st/Xo38HT |

some of us think it did. and regardless of whether you love or hate darkfall, i think we can all agree that devoting 100% of your budget into development is going to produce a better game than 50% of budget into development, and 50% into throwaway hype marketing.

The difference here is that the devs at Aventurine have been a bunch of loose canons without any clear direction and priorities. The only thing that was valid in the IGN review was about the environment graphics and the bad UI. Appearently they spend most of their time creating a good looking game world, but have then run out of time to actually populate it and create actual content for it. That's major failure one! Then the horrible avatars and extremely poor animations. They are on sheer contrast compaired to the love and energy that went into the gameworld design. That's major failure two! Then there is the poorly developed skill trees. Not enough time went into that either. That's major failure three! Then there is the horrible UI. Nothing further to add to that. That's major failure four! And we can go on and on and on.... like decent beta testing, stress testing, account management failures, performance and stability issues, hardware issues, security issues with website and forums, etc, etc. Not to mention the minor kiddies they hired as GM's *shocking*.
The intentions and ideas of the developers were great, but the execution was absolutely horrid. That's what you get if you don't have a real game director and producer aka good project management. It's bound to fail without... and it clearly shows and that will eventually be the downfal for this game. If it isn't already. |

javac, what you're implying seems to be that Monarch is incorrect about it being just a blog by a volunteer at VN, and that it is indicative of and on par with what you would find at IGN.com. That, dear poster, is categorically false.
That's not to say the article is good or bad, just that it is not an IGN review/preview/etc. It's an AoCVault volunteer's post on Darkfall at Vault Network. |

They stick to their design and made only few exceptions. The path is clear full loot PvP Clan centric game.. The only thing that was valid in the IGN review was about the environment graphics and the bad UI. Appearently they spend most of their time creating a good looking game world, but have then run out of time to actually populate it and create actual content for it. It wasn't meant that everywhere were to find mobs from start..instead mobs build their own habitats and have their own migrations plans.. That's major failure one! It is a good decision. Then the horrible avatars and extremely poor animations. They are on sheer contrast compaired to the love and energy that went into the gameworld design. subjective..i got used too and don't mind the looks anymore. That's major failure two! Its not a thing to priorize..nicer looking avatars and the crap would be a small addition but nothing big.. Then there is the poorly developed skill trees. Not enough time went into that either. That's major failure three! No a very small annoyance at best.. Then there is the horrible UI. Nothing further to add to that. No just different ..fully functional if you get used to it.. That's major failure four! Nothing big..as for me it forces you to learn something new .. those who can't, well no clan has use for such close minded and unwilling to learn something new people..we like smart clanmates And we can go on and on and on.... like decent beta testing, stress testing, account management failures, performance and stability issues, hardware issues, security issues with website and forums, etc, etc. Thats nothing common..stability issues is the exception in Darkfall , i give you some creadit with account managemnt..but really DF don't need muc more customers yet..its sold out .. Not to mention the minor kiddies they hired as GM's *shocking*.

It's bound to fail without... and it clearly shows and that will eventually be the downfal for this game. If it isn't already. It is already a big success for the company..some of you can't play...but if a motel is sold out move to next one ..or just wait till more rooms are built..

My experience in game proves the fallacy of your opinions.
So what does that mean? |

That's not to say the article is good or bad, just that it is not an IGN review/preview/etc. It's an AoCVault volunteer's post on Darkfall at Vault Network. VN is part of IGN, and their using the review on their site indicates that the quality & objectivity of the review meet their criteria for journalistic quality. in effect, including on their site is implicit support for the quality of the article. it is not a blog, it's an editorial. do you understand what an editorial is? it means it was written by a retained member of staff, and not some kiddie.
of course if the article was negative about DF, i'm sure the carebear troll crowd would be saying how trustworthy the editorial was...

I guess Aventurine took a note from the Nintendo playbook and greased a few palms at IGN. That is the only explanation for this horrible excuse for a "game" receiving this kind of "first impression". |

And, again, you are confusing the two. The 'quality' of VN content meets VN's 'criteria for journalistic quality.' The majority of what you see currently on VN would either be severely edited (copy editing, not censoring) before appearing on IGN.com or never appear there at all. I've worked for both companies and have seen the difference first hand, but I wouldn't ask you to take my word for it. You can see for yourself by looking at the quality and calibur of videos and 'editorials' done at VN, and then comparing them to the videos and editorials done at IGN.com. My comments are not about whether Mark Moran is right, wrong or otherwise with his article. I am simply pointing out to the people that can't believe this stuff comes from IGN, that is it in fact not coming from IGN, but from VN which has a much much lower set of standards for their content. |
