Ive been thinking about giving the game another try... But I'm curious. I vaguely recall square enix stating that they dont keep old accounts for very long. I quit around the time WoW came out, my last expansion was Chains of Promathia. The account was at max level and fairly decked out, so it would be a shame if I lost him. |

Probably. They're having the Return Home Campaign right now and if you have the right info, your character can be restored. That's if it's lost in the first place. You should check to see if it's still there if you have the info for it.

I dont have whatever the hell a "Playonline Content ID" is. All I have is my CD key... Buried somewhere in my closet. So I probably should just not bother. |

Is that right? Well, I may as well find it then. I remember seeing the old book with keys inside covered in mold on my closet... |

Having the CC numbers you used as well can help. You'd have to talk to Customer Service with that though. You need more info if you just want to go through the website to revive it or reactivate.

You need that key to restart I believe so you are ahead of the game a little. www.playonline.com/ff11us/campaign/wcb/index.html If you are interested in seeing if you can get your character back you can go and see what you can do. The campaing ends in a month so don't drag your feet if you want to take advantage. |

Thank you for the astonishing amount of replies. After a bit of digging, I've managed to find my old discs (The one that included the regular game + Zilart) my chains of promathia box, and my instruction booklet (with the keys I need, I Imagine) but here's the thing.
I'm apparently two expansions behind, so would I be able to buy the 19.99 deal pack and apply it to my account (including the free month that comes with the pack)? Makes more sense to pay 20$ to get all of them instead of buying each of the expansions Im behind on for 20$, plus I would get a free month to decide whether or not I want to keep with it, or... do you know what to my old account. |

i would advise you 1st restore your char before getting the other expantions. your better off getting the full package for 20$ Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men. |

Looks like I'll have to give them a call tommorow. I procrastinated all day and now the customer service center is closed. Oh well.
I've never seen such a needlessly convoluted account recovery system. You'd think Square Enix would WANT people to come back. |

You'd think so, but you'd be wrong. I used to have an account 4 years ago or so that I lost. To play again, they made me buy a new copy of the game, as they made it very clear they had no intentions of restoring my account/characters. Back before the Return Home to Vana'diel thing existed, that's what they used to tell players, as well. "Go buy another copy of the game. Fuck you." The contents of this post do not necessarily reflect the views of MMORPG.com and its management. |

Well, after a bit of detective work, I've managed to secure and restore my character once again. My level 75 War / 37 Nin is back... Well, after this 5 hour download. -.-
If anything, (aside from frusterating) this experience should promise to be nostalgic!
I remember where I logged out too. Dejected that all of my friends left for World of Warcraft, I sat waiting for my sky group to form... I think. I was in some white place in the sky, an inside place. I was waiting a ridiculous amount of time for my group to arrive when I just said "screw it" alt + F4d and never logged on again... Until now at least.

Probably should have left it at that. The game is kinda weak without a solid core group of friends to constantly party with. Finding groups in that game is like getting away with murder. |
