It pretty much speaks for itself.

Would you hire a webmaster if you didn't expect to be around more than a month or two? I wouldn't. lol

well the last thing they want is to create more demand when they cannot meet the current levels of demand.

give them time to create new servers one at a time and them start the PR & grow the game.

personally i love the fact they are focusing all their effort on providing as good an experience as possible to their first set of customers rather than try to lure in & sell the max number of boxes on release day.

Interesting that the children don't seem, or simply refuse to understand this simple fact. Don't you think?

That would require regarding Aventurine as a reasonable business entity making reasonable business decisions. And at that... laff.

troll away.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

So your point is that it is actually a very good thing that Aventurine is not trying to further hype this game or even trying to increase their marketing by updating their website, as they can not handle the current demand as it stands.

Gotcha....

One would think that if Aventurine didn't want to hype Darkfall any further, that they WOULD update the website.

The way I see it, is if they did update with the current state of the game, it would actually de-hype it. then they could just focus on the issues at hand.

Right?

you're presenting people being too lazy to update a webpage as an actual anti-pr business practice, and expecting intelligent people to buy into that?

seriously?

this is an all new low.   they're not trying to anti-hype darkfall by COMPLETELY neglecting the game's website.

why do i say that?  look thru the website... that website lists a LOT of features which have long been removed from the game.  a LOT of those features would be HUUUUUUUUUUUUUGE draws for people hungry for a NEW & EXCITING mmo that does things completely different and is ground - breaking.

if an intelligent person were going to do anti-hype for the game; those features would be the first to be deleted from the page; thereby making the game seem quite a bit more dull, drab, and boring.

oh wait, there i go making sense and using intelligence and logic.

the page not being updated to not stating beta is not some idiotic attempt at anti-hype, it's laziness, incompetence or someone has just forgotten the website even exists.

anti hype indeed.  at least be semi-creative in trolling.

please.

Bad logic and assumptions do not a good argument make.

Lot's of opinion here, not much in the way of anything else.

Like I have said. I play the game. I like the game. As far as I am concerned, it is the best game currently on the market.

Aventurine does not seem to have the infrastructure in place to meet the current demand, so I cannot fault them from limiting access, as in doing so, they actually help to keep my personal in-game experience very good, indeed.

What is so hard to understand about that?

Besides, why are you so obsessed with Aventurine anyway?

Just because you are playing it and seem to be pleased with it, doesn't  make the fact that Darkfall's website is terribly out-dated and misleading, any less a valid point.

next time, maybe reply to my post which you've quoted... mmmkay?

it's my opinion that many features listed on the darkfall webpage are not in the game?  if that is the case, opinion does not mean what you think it means.

the rest of what you've posted has NOTHING to do with what i stated... what my last post did, was address your previous post.  i answered YOUR opinion of why a page was not updated.

stop projecting already, it's funny.

darkfall webpage - not updated - if it were updated, then MANY features listed on the webpage would be removed.

some of these features (prestige classes, pets, etc) are a draw for people, as they are not commonplace in games.

THEREFORE, if av was going to anti-hype darkfall, the best way to do it would BE to update the webpage to reflect the current state of the game.

i hope i've isolated the statements and broken it down enough for you.

True

Opinion.

(Actually having the large BETA logo probably does more to keep the majority of players from trying to subscribe. Most players actually wait for a clear release, in my experience.)

Darkfall will just be another failed product in mmo history. This game will be dead by the end of this year.

I've seen commercial websites that haven't been updated since 2003-2004.

The difference with Darkfall is that those websites are for small businesses that don't even sell through the Web but just maintain a site so that their potential brick-and-mortar customers can know about them, and what they offer.  If you are, say, a beeswax candle shop, how many times do you need to update your website?

Darkfall is not only a computer video game, which these days implies you have Internet access (unless it's also a console title), but it is an MMO, which requires it in order to play.  In fact, you can't even buy it except through the internet.

Which makes updating a website a priority.  Because information changes.  Because a release is taking place.  You indicate that the situation isn't the same as last December, or last June, or the summer of 2006.

The hype/non-hype issue is moot.  People know the game came out in February.  As much as you could say that this makes updating the website unnecessary, I will answer that having as latest information that the first wave of beta invites has been sent -- for a game that everybody knows has been released -- is downright amateurish.

It's not a question of hype.  It's a question of making a good impression.  If you're a tech company and don't even bother to spend 20 minutes updating a website, what does that say of you?  Makes you look sloppy, I'd think.

Please stop trying to defend them on this. They have no excuse.

I hope they never update the site, in reality.

Keep the game niche. There is enough of a base of players, that will expand, to keep the game going a long time.

My opinion on the matter, anyway...

well the last thing they want is to create more demand when they cannot meet the current levels of demand.

give them time to create new servers one at a time and them start the PR & grow the game.

personally i love the fact they are focusing all their effort on providing as good an experience as possible to their first set of customers rather than try to lure in & sell the max number of boxes on release day.

says the guy who is no doubt playing.  I dont care whats wrong with the game, its over a week since launch and i want to play :(
