As we say good bye to yet another game (  Tabula Rasa ) it occured to me that some decent games could live on if developers  issued a patch that would  allow players to run segments of the game in a shared resource environment.

I am thinking along the lines of  the seti project,. naturally there could be a charge for the patch. Yeah I am bored today and I am just mulling over current events. The question that remains is what do you think? Would this ideal be worth a try?

Yeah, I think we'll see that more and more just as long these games are able to run on servers which don't require too much money and effort to run. I don't know much about those things but I can imagine some games are much less resource heavy than others.

Even greater would be if those games would have some kind of construction set like the Bethesda single player games; in that way it would be easy to build new content. The playerbase could test mods client side and vote for the best ones to become part of the mutiplayer game.

Ofcourse there should be a commity to 'rule' the game and voluntary GM's but I guess a lot of people would love to fill in those gaps. Though it will probably ensue in drama occasionaly, as other players won't be considered as impartial as payed workers. It is not directly beneficial to the initial developers, however, since they want us to buy their new product.

Anyway, think we might one day see something like we now see with general mods for single/multiplayer games shift over into MMORPG's, There are tons of mods for WOW and since it fairly populair I might say and people are using many of those legit mods I would say prepare to see more of that in the future, I'm not just thinking it would be any time soon at a lvl like we have current mods, but sure it will come......
