Ok im having patch issues something im used to.

But seriously.

I use the steam client to play my game (i like having the steam application in game for chatting with my buddies that play other MMOs/games.

This god damn patch is telling me I have the wrong client version over and over.

Almost forcing me to do a full client download outside of steam.

Normally CCPs patches are decent, but man im beyond frustrated atm.

Anyone else using the steam version of the client and getting this error?

im so pissed right now.

Edit: so im DLing the normal client off the webpage and every 10% its giving me a Please retry error in the downloader.

I am currently patching the expansion, granted I've downloaded the client from the official website. I'd wait a few hours, as I'm reading from their forums that they're having some issues in the patching process.

Patched 3 clients so far. Had no problems. They all downloaded with 1.1mb/sec.

sounds like a steam problem then a eve problem. I DLed mine no problem just by attemptign to log in and getting a notice that i need to dl a patch. I hit "yes" and it did the rest.

Thanks, well lets hope they get this fixxed. If I go without eve for more then 10 hours I get the shakes LOL!

I'm waiting for the server to start up, and then im hoping CCP will turn its attention to quickly to un-fooxing their patching hangups.

At least they have not Deleted the Boot.Ini yet like last time.

LOL!! Nah, Im still not that hooked. I keep deleting a trying new characters, so I've never gotten past the 1.2mil SPs, but I've trained a lot of chars to that point hehe. Hopefully the new player experience will help chose a path I'd like.

God I hope not, Steam and Eve are such a good combo for me.

I get to chat and instantly join my buddies in CS:S, TF2 and L4D matches while playing EvE.

I hope this gets fixed.

Im around 80% into my Client download off the website, ill try the steam download again later tonight.

New character creation is quite odd. It makes even more difficult for new players to get into a game.
I wonder what was the intention here...

I am a returning player and I did all the downloading from the official server, game and patch were long but completed the process at about 4:00 AM with no problem. I always have a hard time with GMT and time zones. How many hours before the server goes up?

haha! dude I went through 10 million SP before even having a clue what I wanted to do in eve.

I was flying combat ships, mining vessels i was terrible.

I know guys that have been playing two years and still dont fly BS. 

While waiting for the server, I've been reading the patch forum. The problem with Steam is an illusion. Just launch the game from outside Steam and ignore any errors and it'll work fine. Steam will give errors untill Valve gets around to updating the version the Steam client recognizes... Which knowing them can take a while.

Ive been playing on and off since beta and I still don't fly battleships. I can fly them, I have minmatar BS 5 and can use tech 2 guns but I still never fly them.

Woot!! so after two failed Steam installs and 3 tries off the website the fourth time was the charm.

Finally got this bastard patch running!

Yup server is up, im in playing now.

the official patcher quits the download with a error message. the old system worked much better, why do they change it? 

btw: the download rate is really low... anyone have some mirrors?

My character has almost 30 million SPs and is still a jack-of-all-trades. I thought my main was a trader/industrialist, but lo and behold when I uploaded her to EvEMOn the other night, I discovered that actually most of her points are in combat skills. No worries if you haven't specialised just yet. Just figure out what you like to do the most in EvE and go with that.

I haven't bothered patching and won't do for about a day. I have learned to wait a little bit before patching stuff straight away from CCP. A sore boot.ini still lingers in my mind ....

Well.. I was going to play EvE tonight, but it's taking forever to patch.

So how is it? I am seeing some good threads about the new scanning system and the new storyline. Do people feel that the retail box is adding that much? I'm not planning to get it.

Well I said that the only thing that would bring me back to EVE was RE, which after 6 years is finaly in game. I was testing it on Sing until patch day. Now after 5 failed patch tries I was going for #6 and all I see is:

WTH???

I cant even get on Sing because it also has an incapatable version.  Oh did i mention that I did get the 5 downloads (2 with bittorrent) but everyone gave me the incompatable version, 1 tried to run a small patch but that patch would not verify itself so would not run.

I have never seen any game company drop the ball like this for a patch or even new content DL.

Oh, did I mention that no one in the game design club has been able to get the patch to work, of course we are in the midwest US so maybe thats our prob.
