Pvp is horrible atm. It has always been bad, but it seems bad even for WoW lately. Wintergrasp sucks and it lags horribly. Bg's are pretty much dead, and I hear Arena is even worse than it used to be. Game is all about large pve raiding and gear grind again.. |

Wow has ruined the MMO industry. Those of you that are not old school has no idea what I mean. The rest of you know exactly what I mean. Thanks alot Blizzard! |

vannilla wow was ace, outdoor pvp was great etc. but the expenasion and arena screwed over the entire concept of having fun while pvp'ing, and right now evrything is imbalanced |

the OP is talking about world PvP, not arenas or battlegrounds. its kind of a mixed bag at the moment. in the old parts of wow its pretty static, and since the introduction of achievements (specifically the meta achievement to kill all the leaders of the opposite faction), the amount of decent battles in cities are basically none. people don't bother trying to defend them anymore, since the attackers just aim for the leader, kill it and leave again. then you get into outland and you get swamped by gangs of Deathknights. things are looking up in northrend though thanks to the implementation of some great PvP dailies in the different areas. also, wrender, that kind of comment is just asking to get flamed, and I don't think this forum can suffer anymore flaming right now. |

I think that Wintergrasp is the best that WoW has managed to do so far, with regard to pvp. And they still have a long way to go, imo. At least it got the idea of zone control (read: pvp with consequences) onto the table. I can certainly confirm what others have said, in that battlegrounds are almost dead these days. The incentive to do them is largely gone, and since they were never that fun on their own, it seems that no one is bothering now. I cannot comment on arenas, as I don't do them, and neither does anyone else in my decent-sized guild. The mechanics of pvp are still largely based around who can stun/disorient/fear who first, and in that sense, it continues to fail. |

My son seems to be having a nice time. He has a little paladin its cute seeing him run around and when he dies he gets to respawn fast like in some kind of FPS. Its good for him, teaches him about pvp and with no Death penalty he doesn't get stressed out or upset. You should see the little guy in 3v3 arenas he's jumping all over the room laughing with his friend from school. So i would say WoWs pvp is fun and from my sons reaction it didn't need to get better.

here we go again aye zorndorf. what happens in other people's housholds is none of your business. and now you've gone to insulting people who like wow as well as those who don't. what truth is this guy keeping from his son? all the guy said was that his son likes the PvP in wow. |

the class balances in wow have never been great but at the moment they are at the worst i ve ever seen them . the battlegrounds are pretty much unused at the moment . wintersgrasp is unplayable because of the lag . the world pvp that used to happen in wow is pretty much unheard of these days . i was hoping things had improved because i ve been off playing warhammer the last couple of months but it has nt as yet . i gather theres a new patch out soon but it ll take a minor miracle to turn it around anytime soon . i still enjoy mmos but i would say the state of them at present is pretty awful . its not all wows fault its a lot of its down to the developers who try and do a wow clone that only ever ends up being a pale imitation or strike out into new ground but end up releasing the game far too early . i ve lost count of how many new games are little more than paid betas . the sad thing is no other mmo still comes close apart from eve which is a totally different beast or maybe lord of the rings which i wont play because i dont trust them with my credit info after they continued to charge my paypal account inspite of me canceling with them . |

I remember WoW, before the battlegrounds were added, the huge town battles were so great. I was on a pve server at the time, and people would start to gather up outside of towns (Crossroads and Ashenvale I remember the best). And slowly people would turn on their pvp flag, and the battles would begin :).
I also remember being horde, and we'd all meet across the lake from the town in Redridge, and the locks would cast breathe underwater on everyone, and we'd all swim over underwater, and burst out and kill a few guards, and before long everyone from Stormwind had flown over :).
We had some great times in those early days, but now it seems wow isn't the same anymore. I have quit off and on and always come back (why oh why!) but now I am sure I wont be. Seems the battlegrounds are dead, and I never liked Arena, as I like big battles, and Wintergrasp doesn't even seem like pvp to me, everyone just gets in seige machines and shoots at eachother? I really thought, if everyone would go defend and attack you'd have the older big battles, but you didn't :(. Then I found the other annoying thing about Wintergrasp, Raiding breaks in Naxx because the whole of outlands lagged when the battles take place.
So to the OP, its all a matter of opinion of course, I know lots that hate pvp in WoW and some that like it. But for me, whats left can hardly be described as pvp. PVSeigeWeapons, PVResilienceRating, PVLag |

Originally posted by Zorndorf Watch out, because massive lies are being traced above.. Let's see: 1. BG's are .... dead ??? At 09.00 AM .... AB, WSG, EoS and Strand have a waiting time of ... 1 minute to open. At 08.00 PM about 30 to 40 of these BG'a are open at the same time ....? If that is dead what is life then ??? The only exception is AV, because the AV badges were not taking in the repeatable quests (changed in 3.1°) --- 2. Wintergrasp is the ONLY place in a fantasy MMORPG these days where you have 100's against 100's of people fighting over a destructable Keep AND attackers side Towers. With the engines of Warcraft 3. On ALL servers every night. Stating "everyone" rides in a tank or artillery piece is plain and utterly a lie because .... you only have acces to a limited number of these. 8, 12, ... How LOW can you fall by screaming "massive world PvP" is what we WANT a year ago and the ONLY MMORPG in a fantasy setting that IS delivering is WotLK.... and then call it .. no PvP because of the use of some fantastic WC3 engines being used to lay the Castle and towers in rumble. Wow, how much blind hate do you need ? --- 3. Northrend can be fully played as a solely PvP level up experience from 70 to 80 tx to the very clever daily PvP quests throughout its content. Even on a PVE server, your avatar get the PvP sign when accepting these daily PvP quest. Dozens of them and nicely spread throughout Northrend and very close to or in some grinding mats grounds. Very tempting.... --- 4. Arena makes for a balancing tool you don't find in any other PvP mmorpg with a subscription base. Constant tuning of the classes according to the results of arena. ---- 5. Lag in the whole of Northrend ....when Wintergrasp plays out? That joke did happen for 2 days after patch 3.08 and is STILL being used by some people 2 months later ??? btw raid/dungeons instances play on DIFFERENT servers. As a side note patch 3.08 and 3.09 were a much needed patch to put Wow back into the same quality as pre patch 3.0. They added 88 resilience trinkets, some purple PvP gear on LW and a nice tuning for healers. And it turned out patch 3.08 was a great patch for the class balances after WotLK. Healers are indeed back in town and PvP is again on par as the ecxcellent days of patch 2.3 and 2.4. You want proof that WotLK now is no longer a dps power blast. (like early TBC and early WotLK)? You see that 33% of all highest classes in arena's now are again... holy paladins, shamans and priests. All healers. This is coming from a ... player of WotLK. --- 6. Oh I forgot: the FIRST condition of a PvP game for me ... is ... to have a fluid and utterly good control of your avatar, not a clunky and unresponsive mess. No wonder WOW (together with GW) is the only one of having an arena system that shows what fluid and control means.
1 you may be able to get into a battle ground that quickly but most times you ll find there a huge imbalance on each side . its total rubbish to say they are anywhere near as active as they were last year . it ll proberbly take you 10-15 mins average to get into av 2 wintersgrasp may be the only place in any mmo that offers 100 - 100 pvp it still lags and is unplayable at the moment so whats the point 3 try leveling it as souly pvp you ll be doing it for 6 months at least cus of the lack of interest 4 if the arena is a good balancing tool why do the vast majoity of players recognise that theres massive class imbalances ( espeacially rogues and paladins ) 5 i agree with you on this point the lag in the whole of northrend is ok i ve no porblem with it 6 i also agree that wow is fluid but that does nt mean the pvp is good at the moment it really is nt . i like wow i m still playing it but the pvp side of the game really is brocken at the moment and it does need fixing . sorry but fanbois like you dont help matters by failing to recognise how bad it is . i dont know many who play wow would agree with you on most of the points you ve raised . mind you most people i know in game are over the age of 18 . i m sure some of the 12 year olds would agree with everything you ve said . |

I don't see how talking about my son playing WoW is trolling? Last time I checked WoW is supposed to appeal to everyone from little timmy to grandma to eq hardcore raider right? Oh and is this the thread You "took care of me in" ? haha. Your a lame individual if you take offense to someone saying their kids plays the same game as you enjoy. Need to control that insecurity. I dont see this as bashing the game i see it as showing how Blizzard has managed to create something that appeals to a very broad base of people, gamers and non gamers. I am always on the hunt for something different that can hold my attention as Wow is wearing thin for me but the truth is , its the most polished fantasy MMO around right now.

I agree, My son loves the game..... hell so does my Wife, my brother and sister in Law LOL! That's saying something about WoW huh? The fanbois in this thread decided to attack me since im normally a sandbox activist on these forums. Which is true I enjoy games with more gameplay features, deeper customization and pvp with heavy death penalty. My son sees what I play and he wonders why I wont let him play a game like Eve. I've seen adults that couldn't deal with the death penalty in Eve theygo of the deep end and rage quit. I feel a child shouldn't have to deal with that. So I call Eve a big boy game, hes only 10 (just turned a couple months ago). It stops him begging me to play and he keeps on playing WoW with his buddies. These raging fanbois on this site kill me, you can;t say one damn thing without them flaming or trolling you. I bet if I told someone that I played WoW for 3+ years raided Naxx and BT(which is actually true) there would be a 200 post thread with these same dudes praising me. It's sad really.
Edit: you better watch out, you said you're getting tired of WoW. these guys may have a heart attack. Ultima ONline (3 Years) |
