Okay I Think I looked up everything I could find about this with google, or stopped at page 13 I think xD

Anyways heard that, it would be out in 2009, but also that we wouldn't get any info, before 2009 ... that's NOW!!! sorry just getting impatient. Well I just wanna talk about it, when I can't get any info on it. On wiki they say, that the engine thay use "Crystal Tools" can make action scenes like in Advent Children, but don't worry it will be Final Fantasy as it made as a FFXIII online game, the release should be same date. If anybody have anything please post, we can disguss anything ex. character create system I expect something special there :D

I'll might first answer tomorrow :S it's late here.

No trespassing! Beware the Psychotog

I discussed everything i know several times already,so i will tell a few the important things. The guy in charge is the same guy who brought us FFX2,probably ,at least IMO the worse FF game yet,so who knows what this guy is going to do for direction.

I would not expect too much from this newer engine,it is basically a rehashed original engine, but coded to handle all platforms.I am sure they added a few things, but they said they wanted to keep it as close to the original becuase that is what there staff knows and how to work with it.

IMO this game will not even have an inkling of coming out before the end of 2010,and even then i doubt it.

I would say Square is quite informed as to marketing strats and know all too well that the economy is so bad ,releasing a game right now is a bad time. The game would interefere with FFXI,so why gain 1 mil subs and lose 500?that equates to 500 gained, something they already have with ffxi,so it would make no sense.

Also take into consideration the wave of PVP'rs,they would want nothing to do with a game marketed for the asian people and the series has little to do with PVP.Personally i am afraid that this new game will be more aligned to PVP,and ruin the whole FF persona.I don't think we will hear any positive direction the game will take until the end of 2009..maybe :D

Also remember that Square just bought the rights to the Tomb raider franchise,so i see perhaps a new Tomb Raider game in the works ,before anything Final Fantasy. As of now they are full throttle on trying to get Dragon Quest out and another game [forget what it is]so again Final Fantasy is on the side burner for awhile.

Yea Ino it, they know about economic problems, I'm just so F**king impatient now, 10 yea between games is long time these days. But you don't think it would be different from the othere remakes of wow, darkfall and all those, I think it's something new, SE is usually original, SE is remaked by otheres, but they don't remake otheres.

Square Enix Still Hard at Work on FFXI Follow Up
President Yoichi Wada reasserts they have more in store for the MMO space.

For an MMO that doesn't have the words "World of Warcraft" in its title, Final Fantasy XI has maintained quite the strong following, even over five years after its release. But all things come to an end eventually, and Square Enix recently reassured their investors that when FFXI starts to fade away, they'll be ready.

Making an address to said investors last month (via Kotaku), president Yoichi Wada reasserted that work on a new MMO was still underway, saying that during this "transition" period, "the question is where do we go from here, and we are currently developing a post-FFXI flagship title." News of a follow up MMO has been public for some time now, but just what exactly Wada meant by "flagship title" is up for debate. By the sound of it, you'd expect the new MMO to also be set within the Final Fantasy series, but way back in 2007, FFXI producer Hiromichi Tanaka said that "it still hasn't been decided whether [the new MMO] is going to be a game in the FF series, a continuation, or a totally new game."

More recently, when we had a chance to speak with a few of the developers behind FFXI last year, we managed to squeeze out some info about the new MMO: "The next-generation MMO that we'll be working on is going to be different than Final Fantasy XI," Tanaka said. "And even though we have the same staff working on the project, and we have seen the good things from XI, and we've also seen the things that the players maybe didn't like as much...while we're going to be using that info while we make the next MMO, we're not going to make something that'll be exactly like FFXI."

As for when we'll finally see this new MMO, it's anybody's guess. Wada evidently made no mention about when they plan to announce it, but again, we probably won't see it until Square Enix feels FFXI has officially run its course, so to speak, and are ready to move on.

Didn't look hard enough as this was posted yesterday, and its nowhere close to being released....not in 2009, and I doubt 2010.  As the above says....when Squeenix feels that FFXI has run its course...FFXI is doing very well and has done much better than most MMOs ever have, and they recently announced 3 mini-storyline-expansions of which the first isn't due for awhile yet!  The Wings of the Goddess expansion still has at least a year or two of updates left to finish its storyline as well...

I also highly doubt it'll be another Final Fantasy MMO....no reason to compete with yourself as FFXI isn't going to wither anytime soon.  Square has also made many other MMOs over the years of which I last counted 7 they have up and running in Japan.  I would however be quite excited if Squeenix ended up making a Dragon Quest Online; as that would be the next most logical step for them IMO...

The only info we have is that its for PS3, Xbox 360 and Vista.
There is no release date, no name, no franchise or anything.

We don't know if the new MMO will be a "Final Fantasy" or not. Square Enix's last MMO wasn't a "Final Fantasy" so there's no guarantee this one will.

Recent speculation is that it will debut at this year's E3 but then it was supposed to be debut at last year's GDC so who knows.

  • A Moogle Kupo'd'Etat
  • A Shantotto Ascension
  • A Crystalline Prophecy

Scheduled for release in Spring 2009, which I doubt that soon...they'll all prolly be spread out over this summer several months apart!

TWILIGHT ONION!

3/09/09 8:06:09 PM#8

I doubt we will see any kind of new SE mmorpg, I mean come on wouldn't there be some kind of word or interview or some sort of leek about it? I mean even Aion development  leeked all the way back in 2005. Some concept art leeked in 2006. I  think we are still in for a good 2-3 more years before SE pulls out another mmorpg FFXI is still quite alive and has a loyal following of active subscribers. In my server alone (which is one of the lowest population servers some say the second and or third lowest) There is about 1900 people on at Peek times, when a new event or big thing happens in the game about 3000, this is at US peek times, not counting japanese peek times, which is like 2300. So I want to say there is probably about 7000 active subscriptions on my server. Multiply that by the number of servers FFXI has (I know its over 10) you got quite a few players.

I was reading something before (forget where) that there's some event they are having in 2009 don't think it was E3 where they would give more info and show off a little of what they were working on. I thought it was here.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_XI_II   .....but didn't see it there.

Dragon Quest online would be the next best thing I think , although knowing who is in charge I doubt it will be DQO.

I want Squeenix to make an MMO based on Xenogears (not Saga) and frankly I want them to make it NOW.

TYVM guys, I'm suprised, that it's a back up game for FFXI and I don't hope they will wait til it dies. Because FFXI like got a reborn, the sync really rocks. It could easily be in 2015 if they keep update FFXI this good, we have to put some presure on 'em so they'll release it earlyer, give us a date or something
