You can solo up to Lv20 pretty easily these days. Grab a emperor/empress ring and try some Fields of Valor for pretty decent XP, not to mention Decent Challenge and Easy Prey monsters give substantially more than a few patches ago. |

Fields of Valor are a new system implemented late last year. To begin one, find a field manual in the area you're in and talk to it. It's a floating book usually outside the major nations, and it's usually at outposts elsewhere. Anyways, the book gives you certain "training regimens" to complete. Typically this involves killing certain numbers of specific enemies. When you complete a training regimen, you receive bonus exp and gil as well as tabs. Tabs are a special currency for fields of valor that allow you to gain special things like food and a teleport back to your home nation from the field manual. You can do a training regimen once every in-game day (1 game day = 1 real life hour). |

I'll also add that the every game day means after you hit 00:00, you can do another one. You can solo in starting areas until 14. I wouldn't worry about trying to get a party just yet. Even after that, you can solo to 18 easy. The only issue would be getting subjob items. People will usually help with that.

Your pretty much following the power game demografic on trying to hit the dunes at lvl 10. Oh the 3 cities you can easly hit lvl 14 on any class on the starter zone. In each city(depends where you started) you will be given an adventures cupon. Once you turn it in that npc will tell you the name of another npc you must meet. This npc is the starter npc. He will give you quests n tour you on some features ffxi has. he will reward you with items exp and gil. Out side of each city there will be a book which is the book of valor. This is where youll get the quests that also offer you exp. Since you are a melee class you should always go out with refresh casted on you. it only costs 20 tabs and it lasts for more than an hour. This will make lvling much more easier. and recuperate faster. Things you must know about the book. If the mobs you try to kill do not give you exp you will not complete the quest. make sure you take those you can handle, but avoid those that involve mobs that are to weak to be worthwhile. at lvl 10 to 14 you can do page 4 and 5 from the starter zone. There is also a book in the dunes at the outpost. after 14 you can do page 1 which sends you to latheine. you can do those, then kill mobs in lathiene as you wait for a party.usually by 13 up parties are faster to find. Very very few go at lvl 10 to quest in the dunes, and if they do , they do page one and hang out in lathiene. Also avoid following lvling guides to the letter . Watching Fanbois drop their soap in a prison full of desperate men. |

I've been going to Dunes at 10-ish for, like.. ever. Typically though, when I mean "go to Dunes", I mean I head in that direction and usually solo in Konschtat Highlands until I get a group to farm beehive chips or something in the meantime. |

I always found it easier to level to ~12 and then hit the dunes... another thing, try and start parties. I know, I know... it sucks sometimes... but remember, level sync makes things a lot easier. Look for people who have a hard time finding groups... PUP, DNC, BLU, BLM, DRG, etc. You may find that at higher levels, soloing is rather boring on most jobs... so many people will take any kind of invite they can get. |

Nobody really explained it so i will lol.Although you can party at 10 on the lizards,it is not a viable option unless you have a PL.The reason partying really should not start until level 11 is because you need your whm/healer to have cure 2,without it,you will surely see deaths. The dunes really is a bad place to level as the crabs have high defense making for some tough times. The alternative is to solo but as a new player and no sub job it is VERY hard,so i feel your pain. if you can find even one healer type to duo with you can mess around on some slow xp but fight safe on D/C decent or Even Match challenges. The idea would be to fight say a easy prey or decent to build up some TP.Then you would go after a chain by killing anything EM or higher.A chain will give more XP.The game makes it very hard to find back to back EM mobs so to get a chain you may have to risk a TOUGH,i would not try it unless you have saved up 300 tp for a strong Weapon skill, you would probably also need your healer duo/partner to join in the attack.Honestly a new player with no sub job even with a duo partner would struggle to kill a tough, just remember to use your 2 hour ability it may save a death but can only be used once every 2 hours of course. Forgot to mention because many don't know it but ,make sure to always have SIGNET on,you get SIGNET from your hometown gate guard or you can search for a guard of your home nation in another town. The gate/exit guards in JUENO allow all to get SIGNET.With Signet you wil lget conquest points, the reason i mention this is because with a certain amount of points you can buy a XP ring from your hometown gate guard. There is a couple choices, these are on top of the ANNIVERSARY rings the game may have or not have given you. http://www.youtube.com/user/Napolianboo#p/u/15/rCYLLQCNc1w |

With level sync, how is it possible not get a group? when everyone above level 10 is your potential party member?
You just lack the in-game knowledge. Seek out a partner or a Linkshell and ask some questions. MMO is a massive multiplayer game not a single solo game like "lolwow" none |
