Hey! Just wondering how many of you people like DFO?

Many people seem to HATE it but everyone who's played it appart from a few have said what a great game it is!

What do you guys think about it?

Im only going to comment on the wow killer part. Can people stop asking if a game is going to be a WoW killer? Time will kill WoW and that is all. Apart from that they cater to different people so i highly doubt that even if darkfall makes it, it will have any impact at all on WoW.

I agree.  Darkfall was never intended to be a WoW killer.  A game with actual consequences for dying and and open pvp is not very widely appreciated by the players of WoW.  There are WoW players who have played UO, Tibia and the like, and are eagerly looking forward to playing Darkfall, but 99% of WoW's player base will be totally uninterested.

Other than that, I haven't played the game, yet.  It looks damn fun, though.  All the trolls go on about is the graphics, which are a matter of opinion, and the inability to access the game after "launch."  It's a small company with limited resources.  Soon enough everyone who wants to play will be able to.  Animations can be changed easily enough.  I really hope it's around for years because this kind of game is the only kind that can keep my interest for a long time.

Yeah, it seems really interesting. From what I've read (even though the open PvP is something I'm new to), it sounds like a game I'd like to try. This game definitely stands out from the crowd (and probably why people dislike it).

All the game has got going for it is open world FFA pvp, and full looting

beyond that, the game's "features" are lacking.

As far as a entertaining sandbox mmo goes, i'd sooner play Ryzom or Eve over darkfall, much more polished, and much more content.

I have been following Darkfall since few years ago. It looked promising but i got some doubts. Now the doubts faded at least for some time. I'm not going to play Darkfall, not in the next months.

Right now i see it like a big map fantasy FPS not a MMORPG.

May be i'm wrong because i have not played it, but got enough with the information coming from the fanbois, really Id on't need to read the negative comments and reviews to reach the conclusion it is not a game for me, at least not in its current state.

I don't know if it is gonna fail, its the onlly one that some style of gamers have for play, i think they will be playing it doesn't matter how well done it is.

Its a no sense to ask if DFO will be a WoW killer. They run in very different categories. WoW looking succesfully for a whide span of customers. DFO looking for a niche market we will see if successfully or not.

I agree. Darkfall is either a very bad FPS, or a horribly bad MMORPG.

If I want to play an FPS I'll stick with Call of Duty or Battlefield, or some other new FPS game. But I get tired of FPS games, and I want to play an MMORPG. Last thing I want in my MMORPG is FPS combat.

I'd rather have hit buttons 1 through 9 WoW style than a poorly executed "action packed" style.
 

Kind of hard to answer that question when the majority of us don't have the option of playing it...

As a person who has played Darkfall since launch, yeah pretty much everyone likes it.

I say pretty much because I guess there will always be  someone out there who wont like it, but tbh I have never met anyone in the game who isnt loving the hell out of it.

The NPC AI is great, the Combat is awesome and complex, the graphics are actually pretty good, its funny how many of the things the trolls are spamming is simply not true.

i would like to like the game but i still havent played it yet lol

 I don't play a game cauz i think it will be a "WoW killer", i play it cauz i think it will be fun.  I am in Darkfall and I like it.  So I will continue to play.  This campaign to convince ppl that they shouldn't like it is about stupid.  play what u wanna play and STFU.  Don't like the graphics... don't play,  Don't like the animation, features, etc.... don't play.  

I like darfall, I would recommend it for those that enjoy this sort of game.  Its not the best game ever, its not perfect.  

I'm definitely enjoying the game.  It is missing a few things though.  The ingame trade forums need to be activated, for one.  It'd also be nice if they implemented player vendors.  Something to support the economy, ya know?  Economy is incredibly important for a game like Darkfall.

Anyways, I love the pvp and the combat in general, though in pve sometimes the mobs have pathing issues which can be annoying and exploited.

edit: Also, the crafting is fine (at least the professions I've tried), but the harvesting definitely needs some work.  It's just screaming to be macroed, and IS being macroed.

Enchanting on the other hand is AMAZING, if your a dedicated crafter and looking for a system which is shrouded in mystery and requires a lot of experimentation.

It's a standard low budget game so minor bugs and exploits exists. (nothing as far as game killing though)

Other than that, only complaints from people leaving ive heard is "I got killed and lost my stuff" or "It's too hard"

Must be funny to see everyone bunny hoping!

probably would have been better to ask this on darkfall's forums; same amount of fanboi's but less trolls atleast.

Either way it boils down to this: 1) Do you enjoy PvP? 2) have you been disappointed with all the recient PvP games because there is no consequences? (or simply nothing that makes the PvP exciting/enjoyable). 3) is gameplay more important then graphics?

If you answered yes to all three then you may want to check out darkfall, if you answered no to any, then probably stay away. In all honestly this game is decent at best, graphics are fine, but is sub-par compared to most things released since 2006. Im not gonna say bad as they do look good, but so many games are graphic intensive that they mostly all outshine this game. The entire game revolves around PvP combat, with PvE and crafting added to help fuel the fire (mostly).  its twitch based which adds a level of skill needed to play, but it is somewhat simplified (no exaggerated attack moves). I myself will be getting a copy because i haven't found any PvP game that has held me for over a month in the last few years (WAR held me for 2 months, EvE for 4. mostly hung around due to friends not the PvP.)

I doubt this game will fail, while its very niche it will stay alive. Will it hold my interests? well after i start playing is the only time i can tell, but since there are real concequences and something to fight for/against(city siege) it should keep my interests for quite awhile (DAoC was the only PvP game that i played for multiple years and the reason was there was a point to fighting with your realm).

well thats my opinion on the game anyway.

Darkfall is unlike anything else on the market.  Not everyone likes diffrent.

I don't think so, best made in 10 years?  You're having a laugh. It's ok as far as MMO PVP real time combat RPG game goes, but it's not the best game of any genre made in the last 10 years. That's just a load of bollox.
