Is this game released or not?

Normally I'm a smart guy, but I can't even figure out if this game is release or not.

They have no info about it on the website.

So for America is it release or not?

If not when.

It's released in some EU countries only.

This game has 3 (?) publishers for EU and NA. Acclaim will publish it for NA, no idea when that happens.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

Unfortunately for this game...Acclaim is doing a great job of killing it before it's release. And will prolly continue to do so untill they can run the game as another of their F2P games.

The rumor on the Acclaim TCoS forums is that NA/UK "beta" will be happening real soon...as in this week (which I admit is almost over and there's no "beta" yet) or next week.

It is no longer a rumor that it will not be this week.

Acclaim has nothing to do with ruining this game. Play the EU and see for yourself. Pick ANY server empty. And its free to play to level 7. Yet there is a reason no one is there. The only ONLY thing to beta test is how much the servers can hold. They cant change anything lol, they dont have 10-30 devs working .. none.

It has really nice graphics but you know without people you feel like your playing to play a solo game.

Yes, they released too many servers in too small of an area. I don't know why that area would need more than 2 servers.

They released too many servers for too small of a region like someone above me said.  On top of that, with the IP banning and strange boundary system they use that puts some European countries into the Acclaim territory, they managed to break up major guilds and clans, as well as just friends from different countries that like to game together.  The game is actually very fun.  It's the most fun I've had in an MMO in a very long time.  However, their marketing is possibly the worst in mmorpg history, no exaggeration.  The game is essentially dead to me, which says a lot considering my username is TCoSAddict.  I was a fan boy for the game, still think it's great.  However, they've managed to ruin the game without even touching the actual software.  I'm not trying to troll it now, the game is amazing.  When it's released, I recommend you give it a shot; I think you'll enjoy it.  I have to agree about it feeling like a solo game on the EU servers, though.  That's the impression I got.  You could literally plays for hours without seeing even one or two other players.

Yep, been away for a while. Came back, downloaded this thing assuming that it must have been launched in NA/UK by now, but no, it seems it isn't.

I think if you were trying to screw up the launch of a game and ensure that its player base was thoroughly and utterly disillusioned prior to release, you couldn't have done a better job.

I've officially given up....

If people gave up every time software was delayed our PC's wouldn't even boot up, let alone run any programs!

There is no point in waiting for anything. Play another game and when you're done with it, check back on TCoS. Its not like TCoS is some boat that will sail without you never to be seen again.

Sorry Aganazer, you seem to have missed the point.

Let's try something a little simpler - there's a successful, profitable way to run a business and there's the kak-handed way.

These jokers seem to prefer the latter...

If people, as you seem to suggest, were prepared to tolerate this level of service with every piece of software, I think we'd end up in a fairly sorry state fairly quickly. Actually, come to think of it, we might already be there as far as MMOs go...

Lets see... MS Vista was delayed six months or more. It was then available to businesses a whoping three months before consumers. Are they jokers too? Did you move on to Linux or Apple when that happened? Are you going to lecture them on how to run a profitable business?

You also mention 'service' as if you're paying for something or expecting to be treated as if you were paying for it. You're not, so I don't know why you're expecting 'service' yet. Wait till its released and judge them on their service then. Until then, do the same thing you're doing while waiting for Diablo III or any other unreleased software.

With all this problems on release they screwed their launch.

They darkfallized their launch so much.

You really aren't getting this, are you?

OK, really simply this time: When you're bringing out a product, it's always a good idea to keep your potential customers happy, keep them informed about the product, control their expectations, lead them towards the point where they finally get their hands on your awesome product. That way, they can't wait to play and they're happy to part with their cash. It comes down to customer service and above all, good communication.

Or, you can tell them what you have and make some vague promises about when they might be able to get their hands on it. You can let people in other countries play with your product but deny those people in the biggest markets access. You can make some more promises, allude to some vague deadlines that aren't kept and above all, keep you potential player base utterly in the dark about what your doing at all times.

That's no way to handle the release of a successful game, mate. If you're happy to sit around and wait patiently for Spellborn, that's your prerogative, but please stop trying to defend a developer that clearly hasn't the first clue about managing customer expectation.

As bad as the Darkfall launch has been atleast the game managed to generate buzz even before got see Aventurine's customer service in action.

After playing beta in both games I'm looking forward to SPellborn when it officially releases and I have less interest in playing Darkfall; but I have to give credit to Aventurine for capturing the hearts and minds of gamers a lot better than TCoS.

Obviously not

OK, really simply this time: When you're bringing out a product,

I'll stop here. The product isn't out yet. The beta just started. Acclaim has been very forthcoming about what they are doing and working on. Much more than most companies. I have never had any problem finding out what is going on with them. The motto in software goes... 'it will be out when its ready'. TCoS Acclaim isn't ready. Why is that so hard to understand?

You can let people in other countries play with your product but deny those people in the biggest markets access.

Why do you care if other people are playing the game? Its not ready yet. This is TR all over again releasing a game with no AH and not enough content. The delays give them time to get these features in. If they woud have released on time then you'd just be here complaining about the game lacking all the features that are being developed.

That's no way to handle the release of a successful game, mate.

Okay mate, that says it all. You're probably a disgruntled British person who felt cut off from the games release. So close, yet so far. Sour grapes. Its up to you to manage expectations. Hype usually does more harm than good.

If you're happy to sit around and wait patiently for Spellborn, that's your prerogative, but please stop trying to defend a developer that clearly hasn't the first clue about managing customer expectation.

Who ever said anything about waiting? I specifically said to play another game and come back when you're done. There is NEVER a good reason to wait for software to be released. Yet you seem very impatient about playing it leading me to believe that you made the mistake of waiting. There are too many good games out there to play in the mean time. Go play DDO, Drakensang, or even WoW. You won't miss the boat because its not going anywhere.

{Sigh}

I'm not British, I'm Irish...

* I didn't say that the product was out yet - I said 'when you're bringing out a product', which is what they are in the process of doing - and that's the problem. With this type of game, so much depends on how you handle expectation before the game is released. That's the whole point - if you handle it badly, as Acclaim have done, you drive everybody nuts and endanger the future success of your game. I don't find that difficult to understand, do you..?

* My point again. why are others playing this game while we are denied? Not everyone is as patient as you are Aganazer. Perceiving that someone else has access to something you want while you are denied only leads to further dissatisfaction. If TCoS isn't ready yet, then why has it had a commercial release in some European countries? Why can't we have the game now? We're gamers, we see, we want...this is human nature.

* Ohh, 'disgruntled British person' thing. I hate being called British.

* It's not up to me to manage expectations, it's up to me to get thoroughly and completely excited about games releases because I love games, they're my thing. It's up to the company to manage those expectations. ensure that I have a pleasant, memorable experience and part with lots of cash. That's how business works in the real world. And you're right, hype does do more harm than good.

* As for your last point - I don't want to wait, I want the damn thing now - you've built my expectations up, hyped me to high heaven, now deliver on your promises. We're gamers, we see, we want. We aren't interested in excuses, if you bullshit us, we'll lose faith. I don't want to play DDO, it's too removed from what D&D is all about; I can't play Drakensang, it's UK release is delayed until March 27 and I've been playing WoW since 2005.

LOL, thanks for responding with decent , (mostly) inoffensive arguments Aganazer, that doesn't often happen on this forum...
