my guess is its on hold till they have everything where it needs to be and they recover more of the subscriber base with 1.2 there well on their way to acheiveing that so give it about half a year before we hear anything concrete about it. |

Don't ask me for the specifics though, my pre-paid subscription is finally done and over and won't be resubbed again. I wouldn't hold my breath on any recovery or any paid expansion for quite a long time, if ever. |

1.2 is bringing back many actually, you can see it in the game not on some forums. Most of my whole guild from release are back and impressed. |

This has been said ever since the launch of the game, you can see it in game, yet subscription numbers continue to drop fast. What most people are probably seeing is a lot of people rerolling or recent transfers. You can safely bet any amount of money with the server mergings and server closing recently the game isn't gaining any new subscribers. I don't even know anyone who is even considering coming back. I'd be surprised if they even follow the game anymore and know of any patch. I know I didn't but is that making me want to come back? No. Do I even care at this point what the patch contains? Not really. Mythic blew their chance as far as I'm concerned. |

The game is gaining subs. I know you ll say thats been said etc. The fact is servers don t get packed all of a sudden from people re rolling. Many people have re subbed, and I ve talked to many on other forums saying hey came back for 1.2 and having a blast. Yes theres some that say it sucks still , but the majority are liking it. The game is turning around, we who play know this. |

Gaining subscribers? They lost 450.000 people in about 3 months time, why in the world would you assume a mere patch would halt that? Seeing more people in game is due to rerollers and people coming from other servers, nothing more, nothing less. They wouldn't have merged or closed servers if there was subscriptions coming in or if they thought any reasonable amount of people would be coming back. That would be pretty obvious. |

Sorry but I'll be taking any hunches about WAR subscriptions increasing with a very large grain of salt. I'll just await the next horrible quarterly report instead. |

Leucent, until neller gets what he was "promised", he will not stop whining. Very similar to a baby crying for his bottle - it's best to ignore him. Anything positive Mythic does will be shattered against his malice. To the OP: Mark Jacobs stated that he was against the idea of paid expansions, as evidenced by their decision to make Call to Arms a series of patches and live events over the course of a few months, rather than packaging it and selling it separately. Now, if Mythic has a very big Expansion Arc that they figure out might take too long to implement through patches, they could package it and sell it separately. I don't think that will happen though - they'll adapt a "slow and steady wins the race" mentality.

I have noticed a HUGE amount of activity on the servers i am on... i will admit i did let my sub lapse vefore xmas but after the joke that was WotLK i raced back to WAR tof ind it is as good as ever, and i am LOVING it! So much more orvr than ever before which i love... scenarios pop almost with in seconds of queueing, and the event running right now is so much fun. This latest patch fixed so many things and the game just gets better and better. That reminds me i need to get out and buy new sub cards... do NOT want to miss anything coming up!
oh ya i almost forgot..please stop posting here and go post on world of *yawn* craft boards or better yet the DarkFAIL boards |

A few new classes was undoubtedly going to make a decent number of people to reactivate. Also their Domination promotion probably helped to do it.
That said, people who were waiting for 1.2 to change the game into something decently different/better (in their eyes) overall seem to still not be satisfied with what they are seeing. Zone domination isn't really anything that should come into play on a healthy server so it's just an underlying mechanic to fix a flaw in the system (non defence). Castlag is still there, contribution is still broken, keeps still only have one way in, people still pull lords through floors, City siege is still a PvE grind fest.
The big complaints are still there.
But, the 2 new classes will keep people busy a bit until the newness wears off and they find themselves back in the same game. It all depends then on whether they think enough has changed or not, whether the things that made them leave in the first place are still there or not.
That people returned for 1.2 thouhg, not surprising. A *lot* of people(of the ones that could "return" or were already losing faith) like was said above here called this the "last straw patch", a last attempt to check out the game.

WAR was losing over 100k subs a month from September to December when the 300k subs was announced, do you think it magically stopped losing subs since then? On X-Fire the game has gonned below the 10000 hours played mark for the first time this week (see link below) and Mythic is closing servers down and firing 100+ staff. What on earth would make you think the population is increasing? The population increase on some servers are from people transfering from the dead servers that are closin down to the high pop servers.
