I've made a post in the past about this, I'll do it again.  One thing people need to be aware about is the fact that people can actually be paid posters/shills who work directly for or indirectly, through another agency, for a particular game company.

People need to realize there are literally, millions, of dollars at stake in this business.  Large companies invest into this business to make a huge profit and if something threatens that profit, they will take measures to prevent as much loss as possible.  Especially, during hard economic times.  Paid posting is relatively inexpensive and, with contracts, is virtually impossible to find out who is doing it or who the shill maybe.

I encourage everyone to take some time to research Darkfall, watch the youtube videos of the game, before you make any decision on the game.

what does that have to do with the price of rice in china?  Most people here know who the extremists are on either side (which you have also made your colors clear on as well).

The fact is, people who want to play this game will (when able) and those who don't, won't.

Personally, I have no issues with the game, though I won't buy it for game play reasons (I hate FPS style combat)

Its more than just this staged launch. People who paid them in full still are not allowed in but yet they compound the problem by taking orders everyday and having more of that happen. The game will not kill DF, AV is doing that all by itself. In principle the game doesnt seem that bad for a B list title to be honest.

I doubt any company would worry over a potential loss of at most 10,000 players in their otherwise 400,000 playerbase, especially in the case of Darkfall, where every other company would know that the players that are interested in Darkfall are not actually potential players for their game.

Since Darkfall is the only Fantasy PvP full loot mmorpg currently (limited) available.

Did you have any companies in mind that you would suspect doing this, besides Aventurine itself?

Your encouragement that people look for themselves is of course sound advice.

I don't entirely disagree with you either.  But that isn't going to stop those who want an open 3d world, seige/pvp based, no level, no class based game.  As to my knowledge, there are only two of those on the market and DF is the only one that is fantasy based.

When you throw people who are starved for a type a game a bone, they are going to take it for all its worth, even if it is being run out of someone's basement.

I agree that those who want it bad will buy this. But that hurts the OPs point because those that really want this already know about it. I know what is advertised is not always what is gotten but DF did present itself as more than a pk heaven with full loot. It advertised itself as all things to all people and playstyles. Sadly I think what was released is just a pk heaven with full loot but thats for another thread. The 40-50k who followed this like a religion will play no matter if they have to eat horse shite to do it but they are gimping themselves in so many ways as a company for a future playerbase. Lets face it the pvp crowd has serious ADD and will move on to something else the second it hits. Some it may be Earthrise and others it could be Aion or MO. So they do need those other percentage regardless if the most hardcore followers want them or not because they will be the first ones to jump ship. Sorry thats not all directed at your post of course but I kinda went west after going east...bah anyways cheers

The only people known to use employees to fanboi troll is SOE, all other games just let fanbois develop and work on their own, and every MMO seems to have enough volunteers to do that.

This post makes zero sense, who are the shills, who are the paid posters, and where the heck did Darkfall or anyone else get enough cash as an MMO company to spend "millions" either backing or flaming Darkfall? The only one that could afford such an expense doesn't need to flame anyone.

And I agree with you on the population assessment and prediction.  But without any real PvE aspects, you aren't going to get carebears, even those of us with teeth ;)

So who is doing this?  Or is this just a general warning such as "keep an eye out for holes so you don't fall in one"?  I'm not sure I understanding if this is happening with Darkfall, a rumour or simply a conspiracy theory? 

OP was so vague and non-specific, it probably belonged under general discussion rather than DF.

Pretty sure Aventurine doesn't pay people to promote their game, they have a loyal fanbase who has always been more than willing to do that for them, so what would be the point?

And I doubt Blizzard's got people trolling the game either, its just not that big of a threat to their empire. (and besides, no shortage of trolls against DF either)

Its a game with appeal to a very specific target market who will only really enjoy this style of gameplay, which few other games can provide.

I agree.  I think it should be obvious at this point that this game is not for everyone.  The problem is that people have no respect for those who do fit the target audiance of the game.   As it has already been mentioned, a lot of the most prolific haters have never actually played the game and get their information from a second source or a youtube video and think they know better.  

The forum crusaders like to try to convince the people who bought the game and like it, that they shouldn't.  It is simply mind boggling.   I am curious to see if all of these people will flock to the Aion forum when it releases here and they find out the game has a major problem with bots, or whatever the next big thing is.

I'm pretty sure if darkfall had the money, they'd be spending it on an actual billing service, before spending it to hire posters to pump up the game. Maybe a second server too.

Oh you mean how I posted my opinions that LoTRO's gameplay is inferior to Vanguard's and the fans of LoTRO didn't take kindly to it and bashed, flamed me to death for it? Reread some of those threads from a non-bias perspective and then come back. I'm very critical of LoTRO, because the only thing that saved that game is the name.  And, the only thing I did get wrong is predicting that Vanguard would have more subscriptions than LoTRO,  however I also thought that SOE would be competent enough to optimize graphics enough and do some real marketing for the game. 

I still stand by my OPINION that Vanguard blows LoTRO out of the water in terms of gameplay.  And it is pure fact that Vanguard, at launch, had tons more depth than LoTRO did at launch.

Tbh, your post is incorrect. It wouldnt be the best idea to go by the youtube videos. Maybe if you have a WMP high quality one, you can make an educated guess. But when I got into beta, my standing for DF went throught the roof.
