Ok, have you guys seen the gameplay of Drakensang? how about Mass effect? where in you can control all your companions and just click space bar to pause game and click each char and click the spell you cast.

I was thingking, what if there would be a Game that look like WOW all the gameplay, raids dungeon...but you can control all the 5 companion u have? or imagine a raid, where in you can control each character and their spells...like drakensang game..

I think it would be awesome in a point

Or even better, have five friends playing thier character in a raid with you. That would also be a awesome idea : )

would you really enjoy pausing the game every 5 seconds to heal the main tank in an instance? and like keep switching and dps'ing with all your chars?

I wouldn't mind buying an -offline MMO-, I think it would be fun.

If you want to kind of control your entire party at once, then play Guild Wars are do everything with just henchmen and heroes.  With stable servers and no monthly fee, that's kind of like an offline MMO.  It's not necessarily that close to WoW, though.  It's better than WoW.

I don't know the game you mentioned, but games like Baldur's Gate (1998) had that yes.

Isn't the OP just referring to a regular rpg? Controlling a party of characters, raiding dungeons? WoW did not invent the genre, you know... we have been getting what you've described since late 80's.. dragon warrior? final fantasy i? Was anyone but me around for those? :)

Someone said 'What if there was an online rpg type game and world' and mmos were born. WoW is one of the last in a long line. It didn't bring any new concepts, just refined existing ones.

This thread actually makes me kind of sad.... like gaming history is getting a giant slap in the face.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.

WoW is more of a job then a game already, so basicly it would be an "off-line" job...

MMORPG make for laughdable (Really BAD) RPG's.  Try any recent-decent RPG game like The Witcher or Mass Effect. The gameplay is much better anything you can get with a MMORPG.   Offline +  MMORPG =  the worst of the MMORPG + the worst of beind offline.  Really Bad idea.

BUT you have a point. a decent RPG with the characters and models for War, maybe this is a thing the WoW players will love.

I'd prefer single-player ("offline") RPGs stay along the lines of Elder Scrolls/Final Fantasy/Fallout/Baldur's Gate. The MMO gameplay is really only best suited for MMOs themselves.
