Cryptic Studios has published more information about the ships that will be available in Star Trek Online, this time providing a look at the Raptor class ships of the Klingon Empire.

After the Dominion War, the Klingon Empire embarked on an aggressive period of starship design and construction to replace ships lost during the war and subsequent conflicts.

Facing the increasing demands of Chancellor Martok and the Klingon High Council to create more ships in less time, the design teams at the shipyards of Ty'Gokor looked to the past for inspiration for new ships for the Empire.

The Raptor class of the 22nd century was a small frigate intended for use as a scout ship. Its limited weapons and small crew compliment made it a ship for hit-and-run raids rather than extended conflicts. It was, according to lead designer Kurak of the House of Palkar, "capable of winning a battle, but not a war."

The new Raptor shares the basic geometry of its ancestor but is larger and packs a much more powerful punch. The ship is classified as a destroyer and is fast, maneuverable and armed to the teeth.

What happened to the graphics in this game? When i first saw it the graphics were awsome and sexy but now since cryptic took over they look like jedi outcast.

Dont judge a Game by still shots.

Game play is more important than graphics

I agree with the above poster, this is probably not an ingame screenshot.

It's not that I'm so smart , it's just that I stay with problems longer.

But the developers sais there would be no interior right? Or at least a limited interiort, and that deck there is clearly the Observation Deck, which has totally nothing to do with combat Star Trek style. So I don't think these things are in the game

I never was a fan of cryptic because of their other game, CoH.  The, make-your-own-superhero, did not appeal to me, however, i am sooo excited about this game.  And not being a fan of CoH's graphics, after perusing some of the STO screenshots, i am very optimistic.  I do hope they add as much eye candy as they can.  Looks good so far.

Now i dont know whether  to convice my friends to have guerilla style warfare with cloaked klingon warbirds or to intimidate with a fleet of mighty federation starships.  aaaah i cant decide!?!

No there will be interiors.. But not at launch. Cryptic said they would add the interiors in a update. Weither it was a game update or a content update. Cryptic was going to have the interiors at lanch but  decied not to because of the development time that they would have to add to the game.. In the screen shots of the interior to me does not look any different than the other screen shots shown... On top of that the orginal screen shots where from Peptural Worlds and not from the cryptic engine.. In my opinon the game looks much better than most games out to date..

Anyways be happy that we are getting a Star Trek mmo and its being made by a great company. I'm going to go out a little and say that if some people didn't like CoH/CoV they might not like this game. But its still to early to say. I for one LOVED CoH and CoV.. I stopped playing it because there was no end game content. But it doesn't matter even if I hated CoH/CoV i would still try this. Its Star Trek lol.

Not that its going to change much but the game is still in beta and most of the time the final graphics in a game will never be complete. Most games keep getting graphical updates all the time.

I can think of another game that has cartoon graphics that are well very cartoonly that people complain about everyday.. and yet it has over 11 million subscribers, maybe more now I dont remember what the last data specs were.. Sooo why complain about the little things. Worry about the bigger things like the game play and content.

Yes Graphics are nice to have but its just the icing on a cake... Some people dont like icing and  scrape it off and just eat the cake.. Icing does not make the cake.

I'm not as concerned with the graphics as the other guy and I"ll probly try this game, but just because gameplay is important that doesn't mean that graphics are unimportant.  I think they are just as important or at least a close second, and they contribute greatly to the the sense of immersion.  If graphics didn't matter we'd all still be playing Space Invaders or Zork on our Commodore 64's.
