Sorry it wasn't the game for you.

Many of the people who will play DarkFall, have no hopes in getting a game that resembles the best PvP game to date (Ultima Online).

Having Beta tested the game, its got problems, but the core things are there.

Most of the stuff that bothers you, doesn't bother me. I found it actually FUN to set up a good macro before school/work/dinner and have my character playing almost around the clock.

This allows players who cant devote 900 hours a week, to an MMORPG, a chance to keep up.

PvP staling.. Doubt it. Seiges and clan wars.. Come on.. There will be PLENTY of player run 1v1 2v2, ect ect, events run.

But NO GAME will have constant 1v1 and FAIR open world PvP. Even if I did, id probably more enjoy the risk of non-fair open world PvP.

And looting.. Come on.

I havent played launch yet, waiting a bit.. But for you to quit, on its launch.. Shows you dont have the MMORPG patience required to find an MMORPG that isnt a cookie cutter WoW.

I gotta laugh at that... the 1v1s will be there, but they require no skill whatsoever. It's just running around in circles and spamming your stamina pots. There is skill involved in the group fights, but more "coordination" than actual skill. A group of 5 can take out a group of 25 if they get them to walk close together, just launch spells at the floor and hit 3 or 4 guys at a time. Beyond that, city sieging in Shadowbane seems far more impressive and well done. Perhaps in a few months DF will get that right too, but in the meanwhile it seems a total waste to play it for city sieging when you have a game with a far better UI and better siege mechanics in Shadowbane.

By the way, it's not "patience" that keeps me from playing DF. It's lack of it being a good game. You must have far more "patience" for bad games than I do.

That said, I am going to let out a hearty laugh now because of how the beta the beta is being run. It shows the way they run the company. Either way, it's going to be entertaining to see this weekend after everybody is home and ready to play, and hammering the servers *far more* than they are now.

I'm glad you're an optimist though. It's just not everything I thought it would be. People will see that on their own soon enough.

I feel running in circles is a valid tactic in certain situations.

LOL the fact is IT IS! I used it to good effect in DAOC lmao. Id get someone glued to my ass after I killed a groups healer or some clothie in the group from  ambush, Shadowblade for the WIN!  and proceed to run around trees to break casting spam or simply drive someone nuts doing a benny hill. Ahh now that was hard core pvp. Old frontiers pre TOA DAOC for the WIN! BTW never run from a assassian!

An informative post. I haven't played DF, but I almost felt myself writing the words in it.

I've copied this post and mailed it in a letter to a friend in Air force boot camp (Hidu) who was a very avid Darkfall fanboy and ex-shadowbane player who wanted something new.

Very good post overall. You do hit one very true thing in your post that several of us here have stated over time when asked "Why do people come here to troll DF?"

The answer given, in one variety or another, has been, "If fans hadn't swarmed forums for our games to  shove DF down our throats, telling us how our game sucked and we're all carebears if we don't play it, we probably wouldn't have known DF existed and wouldn't have come to these forums in the first place."

They don't seem to want to accept that answer.

They'd rather just blame it on "WoW players".

That said...

I'll make a suggestion about your last paragraph...

Rather than going from one extreme to the other and assuming a poor experience... Go into it with no expectations. Just go on what you know...

Taking DF for example... Here's what you know about it:

- Sandbox
- FFA PvP with full loot
- First-Person perspective
- No classes; Skill-based

... and so forth.

"Just the facts, ma'am", so to speak.

And from that decide if its proposed features seem interesting to you. If so, then check it out, but do so with no expectations of how "great" or "poor" it will be, because then your experience is colored before you even set foot in the game. Ignore those who say "It's amazing". Ignore those who say "It sucks".

Go into it knowing it's going to be a game with the given features, and then decide for yourself how well or poorly the game performs and whether you can enjoy it enough to continue.

And that's it.

I use that approach with any new game, movie, book, etc, and it seems to work well for me.

Yea he said he wanted to apologize on the DF forums. It appears that he is saying he forced Darkfall on people that were not interested in DF on the DF forums.

That's not exactly what he said and you know it. Did you skip that part which was saying how he hyped the game up to his friends and guild mates?

This is exactly what I'm talking about. Instead of commenting on an actual post, you pick something that doesn't sit well with you and blow it way out of proportion in an attempt to discredit the person in question.

Nowhere does he say he was trolling or "forcing" DF on the official DF forums.

Many people did see that already. You dont need to be a genius to see DF needed alot of work before it should have been released. Frankly though im very happy about all the rabid fanboyism I experienced here about DF. It sent all the nessessary warning flags, and frankly those flags were warrented. I wish the fans of DF the best of luck, but I will give it a six month pass before I even seriously look at it again, to do otherwise would simply be a waste of my time.

DFO will be the Vanguard of PVPers. Probably worst.

 MMORPG companies are professionals of illusion. You have a blast at the beginning (ALWAYS), then you see the reality of the game, some days/month after. But you 've already bought the game + payed 2/3 month of sub: 50euros + 12X3. Even if you cancel your sub, they won. And you lost.

Thx again for your post and forget the fanboys (BL) , they are blind. Some of them will learn, like we did.

This post wins and is also very sad. I was around for VG launch and it was upsetting to see the game come out in the state it did. I'd really had enough of WoW by then and wanted something more a la EQ2 but with depth and new  features.

DF was something I barely cared about until the forums become more interesting and fanbots moveds into other forums to slate "themepark" games. My only concern for this whole thing is how the DF incident shows how far gamers can be pushed and manipulated.

I remember reading your posts and most of them were negative. Sucks that you cant enjoy Darkfall like others. It really does, there goes one less noob to kill in Darkfall now.

I was there in 03 when SB started to die for me, in fact its about that time I came here, after the first beta announcement was canceled and the game was delayed indefinitely I knew something was up, after it happened again and for years, I knew it was -and IS- Vapourware...
