I had never reached the limit before, and really didnt have much on me, but all of a sudden i could barely move. Neat. I enjoyed reading that Kasmos, entertaing. I like that you included a defeat as well, usually people just boast about how 20 of them beat up on one or two people. If you don't feel much like PvP, is there much else to keep you entertained? "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

As dorky as it sounds...you do get excited in these kind of pvp games at times when there are consequences with failure. My first EVE kill when i learned how to scan a system for a player and was able to kill someone was heartpounding. Thats exactly how I got my 1st kill in EVE. I was just learning how to scan a system to find people. Cought some guy off guard/warpscram/boomboom! I was getting that same heart pounding feeling the first time I stalked a guy in beta and finally killed him. What r rush. |

Try to get your stories down to a few lines. Cut to the chase. I'm sure it would have been interesting if people read it.

They're pretty intelligent, aggro from far away, and many of them take a group of 15-20 to actually defeat. Besides that, harvesting and crafting aren't all that bad either. I haven't dabbled too much in it myself, but I have guildies who are past 50 in certain crafting areas, and they love every minute of it. Of course, we've all been waiting for a sandbox MMO like this for years, so our opinion may be somewhat bias, but I can assure you if you like to have freedom and don't mind living in a very harsh world, you'll certainly enjoy this game. |

Do you get bonuses for reaching skill milestones like in Oblivion? For example, in Oblivion, you reach a certain skill level, your boots no longer factor into your sneak die check. I know there is no sneak in DF, but do you get to look for ward to "tiers" of skill granting a stat bonus as a reward? One more; Can you really tell when a skill is improved? Is there any difference between say 1 point, 5 point, 10? Do you notice getting better, or is it too gradual? "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

Every 25 points towards your skill increases it very noticeably. Taking "Sprint" as an example, I noticed a slight increase from 1-10, but more so of an increase from 24-25. You get a slight bonus to, let's say, "Two Handed Sword" damage every level, but a much more noticeable increase from 24-25. Every 25 points in a skill you "Level up" you skill, when every other level in skill you simply get "You skill in x has increased". Hope that answers it for you. |

Do each individual skill have a bonus? I assume, say, you get 25 pts in "Two handed sword", you'll get a plus X bonus to Two handed sword? Sprint, gets you a run bonus, etc? Every skill has it's own bonus? "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

Every skill has it's own bonus? Well every 25 ranks for weapons, archery, and I believe spells (I haven't tested out much spells) you unlock more abilities to purchase. But yes, for every 25 points you earn in a skill, you gain a much greater "bonus" then for each 1-24 ranks before that. i.e. You notice much more a difference from 24-25 then from 25-26. Keep asking questions and I'll answer what I can. |

Thanks man. I think that's all I wanted to pick your brain about for now. I was curious about the skills, because, well, I do like to get a reward now and then with a "Neat!" factor. "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

The OP was well written and sounded exciting. Normally I would not say the below but I feel DF has too much written descriptions (e.g. Lord Tasos) when reality is more grounded. When watching DF videos do not compared in anyway to the textual description. Yes... you can PvP anyone ... yes you can take there stuff. The problem is.. thats it. No trade routes, no trade shipping, no politics, no formation fighting and dismal crafting which is most likely going to be Macro assisted.
All I get visions of when thinking of DF during the OP post, is the following :
Sorry but as well written the post is and passionate but I don't feel the game is simply that amazing. Certainly it exists in people minds because of the lack of decent PvP MMOs and the cookie cutter forumula many companies have taken on. Fills a niche.. yeah... the second coming of Christ ? Afriad not. |

The politics of running around and killing things. Which I suppose a lot of poltiics is about but really where the window dressing. Wheres the framework in DF for this ? It certaily is not about "material" goods all safe in your little bank and no need to move em anywhere. Epic fail on AV part this is. As for crafting... I would love to see a tale based on that. Oh wait everyone is macro'ing that ? Sorry but if my mind had not been tainted by all those horrible beta leaks then I might be excited as it is just the combar invokes the points above. Fix them and I might consider this game a base on which to build. Sod everything else... |
Originally posted by tombear81 I like this post, It is a good counter post in a way. Not anti-game, but a sort of de-grandising(sp?) and reminder that the combat isn't as romantic as it may seem. Still, I enjoyed the OP. "nerf rock, paper is working as intended." - Scissors. |

Dinged max level on Friday, been out killing players ever since and carrying loot back to bank. Game is truly epic and the old UO feel is there, even more because it's 3d and world is actually a big big place with tons and tons to explore. |

Meaning that I could actually start playing the content I was paying for from the day 0. Hence, ding max level! |

Beta leaks?? I have been playing for two months! And you didnt understand what i ment about politics. Ok, i will try and explain. From the OPs post you understand there are many clans, clans with citys or strongholds. The politics come in place in the fact on what you should do agenst you neighbours for example. Kill them or protext them. Because you dont want tome enemy force from another race raiding you like the op did. And this is just for starter. And on the other side......what other sandbox FFAPvP realtime MMO do you compare your betaleaks videos to?? Just wondering. |
