atmosphere? the game is almost a copy of EQ's world graphics which is so out of date it doesn't provide any

Personally, i dont care at this point. I will try DF when they get their  NA servers up just because I am soo damn tired of everything out there. It is sad to say but even if everyone is screaming DF is utter crap I will still try it for myself.

I have been playing mmo's for 10 years and have tried most everything. All are the same except for EVE , but after awhile EVE has become like chineese water torture for me to play.

All kidding aside, I notice a lot of parallels between Darkfall and Chinese Democracy. Both took forever to come out, both actually *did* come out, and both were way too mediocre to take as long as it did.

Please stop with threads like this one.   OP offers nothing to defend his position making this a weak trolling attempt.  Tell us why the game is good, or why its not, but don't just vomit a bunch of baseless opinion into the forums.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to play this game, (or more specifically, when to try it) and threads like these waste my time.

yes! also its hard to explain,,its so immersive for some reason..the shadows moving the haze in the atmosphere ,the red players trying to rob you of everything, the other players like you banding together just so we can keep our belongings and try to survive,unreal I love it.

I will try Darkfall.

Why?

Because MMOs have gotten into a rut ... a MAJOR rut. I'm sick and tired of hand holding, false dangers, level grinding to get to the meat of the game, gear grinds, pvp without reprocussions, zones and instances, and the whole theme park feel.

I miss the sense of danger as you left town, hell even the sense of danger you got when entering town (Hope I can make it to the bank before a thief grabs my house key).

If Darkfall can capture even half the feeling than I'd consider it a success.

I agree OP, Finally an MMO that is actually fun and exciting to play... my girlfriend and I found this MASSIVE shipwrecked beach.. it  goes on a long ways.. we have only explored 1/10th of it.. but seriously.. its so fun, we have been getting some pretty sweet armor of skeletal warriors.. and a PK jumped us my girlfriend was almost dead.. she got away and I pwned his ass.. it was...

To be honest I think Darkfall has the worst group of retards in their community in the history of MMOs.

It's not Darkfall's fault though as a lot of the aspects of the game appeal to two groups:

#1. "Hardcore" PvPer's who want a FPS compeitive skill based MMO game - the Good part of the community

#2.  13-16 year old kids with massive amounts of teen agnst running around QQing, saying retarded nonsense on forums,  in game global, and in private tells after they get rolled. - The bad part of the community.

Unfortunately it seems like #2 makes up for 75% of the community and #1 makes up for 25%

Now it would be OK if most of the comments were funny, creative, or witty but most of it is just /yawn emo dribble spewed out by mad little kids.

Hopefully with more players coming into the game the trend is somehow miraculously reversed but if not just prepare to put a lot of tards on ignore.

Don't worry, the large majority of people who are mouthing the game are the ones who haven't even played it.   Most of the people who've played it for more than two days really like it, even with some of the current problems.

No, it isn't perfect or polished right now but its good enough that it doesn't need to be in order to enjoy it.   I am glad I am on the inside because as the OP says, this game has got "it".   I've been waiting a long time for something better and more exciting than the same ole stuff we've been offered over the past several years.

Whether this game survives or not remains to be seen. I hope it does, so the whole group of people who want to play this type of game can stay out of any future MMO's that I want to play. Remaking the same game that was made 15 years ago, but with 3D graphics is not " revolutionary " or " innovative ". Not that there is anything like that out on the market now.

Indeed. I have had more fun the last 2 days playing DF than I have had on any other MMO.

Way to generalize. The people in game have been great so far. I see questions asked/awnsered in alliance chat and race chat all the time. I have gotten tells from people saying "GF" and people saying good fight in public as well.

I am an elf, so maybe alfar chat is terrible or something I do not know. Great community so far though.

I agree... I was surprised to get a stream of tells saying "great fight guys!!!" after my guild ambushed another in the woods and beat them.

doesnt matter if someone posts anything about the game or not. someone posts how they like the game, what they like about it etc.. they get bashed by some other clown claiming the opposite. same goes for someone who posts anything negative. the only true test of whether you are going to like a game or not should never be based on what someone says. it has to be based on your actual experience and not the words of someone else.
