I really havent played this game since what- well back in the days when shaman were still king and pre-BC. Since WoW I figured out I'm what you call a 'sandbox gamer'. Don't really care for Classes or 'vertical' Levels

Anyway! I've returned at the behest of buddies to try WotLK

It's great. I always wanted a good looking Horde race. Before, I was stuck playing an ugly troll. Now I have a good looking Blood Elf and I am happy

I am enjoying running through dungeons with teams and it seems like loot is just like falling out of the sky

I also hear now I can get epix easy.

Still, I think WoW suffers from it's simplicity. You cant dye yer armor. So I see everyone running around in mismatched armor. seriously blizz you cant give us dyes at least? Okay, granted I'll complain anyway.

But darn it even Guild wars lets us dye armor!

I like there is a guild bank now. Seems weird that ev1 is decked out in epix. People seem like such punks in this game to me tho. They whine and whine bout gear. So many loot whores. Last night I won my rolls for my deathknight for some good stuff and all night this Warrior is complaining how he really needed 'that belt some guy won'.

Seriously we only Level 60-63 anyway haha.

Anyway, I admit I do like the dungeons. The quests- meh they are great compared to other mmorpgs. Much better then Spellborn's quests.

Still, I miss City of Heroes in a way how we could wear what we want. I miss being able to dye stuff like in guild wars.

Oh well- no game will have everything I'm looking for. so I will continue to play this wit friends along with sandboxes til I can lure them away. Dont know why my friends only want to play WoW.

<sorry for the book>

Oh did I mention I love my Death knight? Plate + good range = WIN!!! I'm seeing way too many DKs thoug. many dungeon runs I've been on was all DK teams

Blizzard hant implemented dyes to armor because they continuously try and have the game be able to run on relatively low spec computers.

When you have set armor pieces like in WoW your computer loads - X 3D model with Y texture map

If you have armor dyes and lets say you can dye the main parts and have a trim your computer loads - X 3D model with Y texture map with ABCDEFG color body with HIJKLMN trim

In WotLK different colors are used for different versions of similar sets. For instance.. tier 7 and 8 sets have the same looks in normal (from 10 man raids) and heroic (from 25 man raids) versions but the colors (and ofc. the stats) are different. So.... don't expect dyes anytime soon.

Actually they are adding a new graphics level in patch 3.1.0 called Insane or something. Same patch also gives us highres textures on northrend tier gear.

In theory they could easily give us dye, just make it a setting to show it or not clientside.

Just a very small remark. Saying a game is simple because you can't dye your armor?

I think there are other criteria to define "easy" and "hard" programming efforts. Like having 61 deep talent settings and the constant tuning of class interactions. These are a lot harder than free painting a set.

The game simply doesn't allow it to have more distinction between their designer's Tier sets in PvE and full PvP sets and it doesn't fit with the art and color codes within the game.

It would be very easy to implement it technically (color codes take up 2 bytes ), but it would be against the design philosophy.

It's also a matter of taste. Disgusting combo color schemes riding on pink clothed horses is not the way you control the good looking art that's IN World of Warcraft.

Everyone his taste of course, but an MMORPG is not further developped if you let everyone color  in pink and yellow.

Look Zorndorf lost a star again. ;)) The inconvenient linked truth hurts on mmorpg.com

ugly troll? what the hell.. trolls owns..

you cant dye armor cuz engine isnt made for that.. it was said before.. and it was said it wont be ingame..

as mismatched armor.. for 60-70 part yes.. for wotlk part.. every armor more or less match each other

there are plenty loot whores..  boot easy enough to avoid all of them
