I heard from a guidly my name popped up in a few posts while ive been busy, so i thought id give everyone a shout out.
Ive been Busy with playing Darkfall and watching alot of episodes of the Shield while waiting for to play Darkfall. (there was a lot of waiting) No surprise to anyone the launch was a mess. U couldnt help but laugh at the invisible goblins ganging up on u while u where desperatly trying to guess where they where. Memories I will treasure forever.
Now thou the game is great, and so ill probably be playing it alot more and I dunno if ill be posting as much. Id like to give a shoutout to the trolls who kept this foum fun, they seem to be leaving now so hopefully I can get em one last time.
To everyone who said it was Vapoware, to everyone who said it would fail, to everyone who said it was a scam, to everyone who said it was a clickfest, to everyone who said it was an empty world, to everyone who said the graphics where bad, to everyone who said noone would like it. And to everyone with completly ridiculous derogatory comments..
You were wrong.
Also a shoutout to all my partners in crime, who held the troll advance at bay leaving a few voices of reason to greet the many curious people who wandered in here with a genuine intention of looking at the game. I salute you.
And to everyone who still cannot play the game, hang in there. U do not want the launch we had to go throu, and now u wont have to, AV is a small company with little money who has made a great thing, just give them time and they will deliver.

Hopefully i will get the game tomorrow..again! And then i dont need forums anymore. So i also want to thank the ones that looked forward to a game such as Darkfall, now we have it. All other trolls and haters can move to another small indie developer and bash them because they are a small company. Thats what the haters seems to do best. |

Originally posted by Darkstar111 You on crack buddy? LOL. Most people can't even buy the game or login at the moment. It is still vaporware, until they fix their account issues and let the customers who want in, in. Having 5 or 6000 people manage to get in before the account server was closed does not mean the game is good and open for business. Let's wait and see before you go tell everyone they were wrong, because right now, 9 out of 10 people can't even try Darkfall.

Ok that was again a waste of time read this topic:( |

I think I'll wait a couple months and see how many people are still playing before I call the game a success. |

The thing is that you always know when you have found a good game. Most people play a MMO because its new, not because its any special. And for those that knows in a split second that DF is a good game for them, will stay no matter what......as me for example. Its no secret i dont play MMOs with classes or levels, so i dont have that many to choose from anyway. If im lucky....Mortal Online and Earthrise will be out "soon". |

This is NOT a troll post. I WANT to buy this game. I WANT to log in. But the fact is, it has NOT been released yet. That means, it is STILL vaporware because as of yet Aventurine has not delivered the goods to market. There is nothing trolling about this. |

Originally posted by daarco I think there are just those who've been waiting so long that they're blindly in love with Darkfall (most of the fanbots here). But I've seen the average person give reviews, and they say it's a decent game with a ton of potential. It's fun at the beginning but we've yet to see how long it really lasts...good things don't last forever, and AoC had great reviews at the beginning as well. Even if you (general, not you personally daarco) think Darkfall is a "good" game, you owe it to yourself to check out Earthrise and MO when they're out, if you're a true sandbox fan. The worst thing that could happen is if DF becomes the sandbox WoW, simply because it was released first...Tasos and Aventurine are so arrogant that I really don't want them, personally, to succeed. But if it's for the good of the genre, well, go Darkfall... |

vapor vapor vapor?
please! its good that people love this game for what it is, its bad that AV messes thíngs up and was and is that company you cant trust for what they are telling you...if thats casue they are an indi company and have bad luck or they just dont care about lieing. I dont care. TR was a game i praised high, but i didnt fool myself into thikin its the seconf messias of mmorpgs, adn in my eyes DFO has worse chances to be that. We will see, in a month or two. Regards have a good time , lets not get to worked up about a game ;)

Like a few others (both sceptics and fans) darkstar has been here, giving input on the game, for some time now and having his concluding remarks does add something.
Even the most infamous troll Zaxx, is playing darkfall now.
I, like this guy, judge the game on its vision and actually love that a small company dare make a game that differs from the norm. And furthermore, according to quite alot of people, this is actually a really good game. |

Actually. It hasn't been "vapor" for two months. The quality of the game has been brought into serious question over the past week though. Not to mention the sign up/billiing/account system which is not in question, because the question has been answered, it sucks. The OP did bring up click fests and the like, and many of the reviews are stating it is a subjective click fest because you run the chance of hitting a friendly everytime you swing (since they keep jumping in front of you). For the rest of the post, I agree. Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom. Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR. |

Ok not to de-rail this, but people putting Vaporware in their posts is starting to give me a /facepalm headache so here we go: This game is not Vaporware, Vaporware is a game or other piece of software that while advertised and hyped does not come out, this game is sold (getting a copy now or not makes no difference) people bought it, they own it, they play it.....not Vaporware.
http://knowledgerush.com/kr/encyclopedia/Vaporware/
"Vaporware is software that is preannounced by a developer, but never emerges as an actual product. The term implies deception; that is, it implies that the announcer knows that product development is in too early a stage to support responsible statements about its completion date, feature set, or even feasibility". While Tasos may be guilty of some of this, the bottom line is that it is out and playable, hence not Vaporware....saying that not getting a copy constitutes this as Vaporware is invalid, that's like saying that Mario 64 was Vaporware simply because people had a hard time getting it during the Nintendo 64 release.

second off... if you use words correctly, people will think you're intelligent.
vaporware, for instance. Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product. The term implies unwarranted optimism, an as yet unannounced abandonment of a project, or sometimes even deception; that is, it may imply that the announcer knows that product development is in too early a stage to support responsible statements about its completion date, feature set, or even feasibility. However, most vaporware would not be considered a hoax since the makers have a genuine intention to create their product, even if it ultimately never materializes. Products with unspecified release dates or long development times that outwardly demonstrate regular, verifiable progress in production are not normally labelled vaporware.
[edit] Falls short of expectations The biggest example of this is the computer game Daikatana, which was announced in 1997 but did not ship until 2000. Many who had waited felt the gameplay was disappointing. Ultima IX was released to savage reviews in 1999, due to numerous bugs, unbalanced gameplay and high system requirements.
for someone whom made an account a couple of weeks ago, and think everyone should know who you are... at least get that one term straight... and um, good luck in becoming popular so people know who you are? could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

there's quite a number of definitions for vaporware. that's fine if you pick one definition which doesn't apply; but don't ignore the other definitions which definitely do apply... learn what the term means and use it correctly.

They then told everyone else that wants to try it out that sales are not available because they need to resolve some issues with their servers and the billing system is messed up. I want to play this game too but I'm still going to call it like I see it. P.S. This is real PUMA. |
