People who say it's no big deal are wrong IMO. Look, if there is not a fair playing field for all, the game is ruined. If there is one fast way to advance, that is what people will do. That is all they will do. Do you think the devs envisioned every player crammed into the same area farming broken mobs for fast advancement? Ignoring the true intent of the game? Yes, many organized guilds knew what they were doing and had a plan to rocket to the top (fairly). If that is the case, they can legitimately get right back where they are. Would you want to grind and work with your guild for weeks to gather mats and gold to build a city, the accomplishment...when a group much smaller achieved the same thing in a couple days easily? Exploits are unacceptable, despite how unfair it is to legit players, a wipe/fix and re-start is the only viable choice. Otherwise, new players won't join. Why should they? If it's known you can exploit X mob or instance for fast gain, that is all people will do. |

A wipe would be retarded and wont even happen.. They dont have that big of an advantage.. Lots of people were on a lot harvesting so then all that time would be wasted. The only ones that want a wipe are ones that were useless and didnt even think of harvesting items or anything just swipe at the air all day earning 1 gold an hour :/ |

The thing that AV SHOULD be doing right now:
They should be creating a new server (which will be maintenanced) and on that new server they should fix all the bugs. when that new server is completed, they should launch it for a few days. when the new server proves well, remove the old one. simple as that. correct me if im wrong. |

After thinking about this all day I was for a total wipe instead I think this is what should occur: 1. Fix the server first (properly). 2. Rest all the clan shards. (If a guild did it in 4 hours legit they can do it again.) No one had banks up yet so that should not be a big deal. 3. Disband the clan divide the 2000 gold across the players listed in the guild. This would allow them to reform. But dump any ill gotten loot out of the clan bank. 4. 1 month account ban on any player they can confirm through log entries was using the exploits. Dump characters and make them start from scratch if they still want to play. This would punish the guilty get rid of any contraband loot and teach them a lesson. The host players in the guild can reform. Anyone not involved is really effected, If it really was a short list of guilds that did this then it should not be so hard to implement. |

just to clarify -- exploiting supposedly "bugged" mobs isn't working as intended? who is to say that those mobs shouldn't be trapped in water or running in acid?
obvious items like this had to have been caught in beta like a year or two ago. it would make me think that it's working as intended... could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

Because.. some did it legitly and still were able to compete with the exploiters.. Im sure a lot of people stayed on a lot that day / called in sick to work or whatever.. All that would be wasted because some people didnt know what to do with the sync problem.. Most of the ones that didnt know what to do with the sync problem are the new player who still wouldve been far behind if not further if there wasnt any problem at all. |

The amount of exploiting is extremely exaggerated. Everyone is making it sound like everyone who is on the server has an endless supply of money and awesome gear now,which isn't the case. The amount of exploiting is pretty miniscule compared to the rest of the server population. The only people who have a pussyache over it are the ones who didn't get to take advantage of it. A lot of people didn't even know it was going on and were in the horribly overpopulated and desynced goblin area all day. I can gurantee you that they will NOT wipe the server.

As I said in the other thread, in beta the humans controlled that dungeon, and would attack their enemy races with greater numbers. LOD (human clan) lived inside it, and farmed it to hell and back. |

I'm not sure a wipe is warranted at this point. Most likely, we're seeing the tip of the iceberg here, as far as exploits go. If Aventurine wipes now I can see the game getting locked in a cycle of: open the server up, wait a few days for the newest round of exploits, fix bugs, wipe, open the server up.... I think the best thing to do is continue letting the cheaters find as many bugs as possible during this pay-to-play-beta, then after a few months, wipe the server ONE TIME AND ONLY ONE TIME, at which point I may buy the game (providing the game gets good reviews). |
