Instead of this:

MMORPG.com:

There had been some speculation that there are plans to push the launch date further back than the originally announced 25th date. Can you tell us if there is any truth to this?

Tasos:

Consistent with the usual speculation sources, there’s no truth to this.

They could have saved themselves the embarrassment of failing and the fairly accurate perception of being the next-best inept and misleading development team by having a controlled, yet open beta in progressive steps rather than trying to rush something that is obviously not even ready for a partial launch out the door.

This "launch" is just like limited preorder beta for other MMOs.

I'd agree there, open beta would of been a much better move. Would of ironed out all the current problems.

But although the launch is going very badly, it doesnt mean the game will fail.

Yes, I don't understand why they didn't have a open beta??? If the game is so good, they could have gotten more fans (customers) and tested the game more properly.

this development team kinda reminds me of playing cid myers pirates. They COULD have hired more ppl with that big fat loan they got.... but they didn't. You can hire more crew and it makes sailing much easier, but then you would have to split the plunder with them. Same applies here. They could have hired more staff, but tasos didnt want to split all that money up with more ppl. So now they have like 20 guys workin on a game that over a quarter million ppl are waiting to play. So screw this game and this company, even if they get it up and running the customer service is gonna be so limited and horrible that itl make blizzard look like the hilton. Ill play when this company finally shows it true color and ditches the game and a bigger company buys it up and acctually does something with it.

This is all pretty obvious and the facts that all these bugs were already in beta shows that they had to launch it to get the money to pay the bills.

Issues were not like this in beta. They added the new patches after shutting beta down and then this happened.

You mean have an Open Beta and let people other than the most rabid fanbois play? Na.

Once people get past "gank" and realize that there is absolutely no content midlow-end game, they will see the game for what it truly is. A vast, empty world, where all you have to look forward to, is the skill "gank."

They are having problems with only a limited amount of people with the game right now.

Imagine if they opened the floodgates to the 300,000+ people that applied for beta.

Well, if they tack on another free month (rather than, what, an extra two fucking days, gee thanks assholes), they can still use that excuse. I have no problem paying the full price as a "preorder", as long as they don't start counting until the servers are stable. Oh, and do a wipe too. kthxbai

I agree with the wipe even though I spent the entire day leveling magic while talking in race chat...

This isn't a launch. You have to have an invite to play. It's a paid beta.

You can't really argue that having an open beta would have been a bad idea.  I think though, that they're probably under a lot of pressure to get the game out before Mortal Online gets more of a foothold, as well as pressure from the community.

I think you answered your own question.

MMO games would be pretty cool if it weren't for the people.

It's not really an invite but instead a chance of getting to order. This

Wishfull thinking, Beta had the 14001 error and was never fixed, synch issues were in beta, that human error was in beta.

The sync issue was in beta, and it was fixed in beta, though it would seem they didn't account for something ;)

Those errors were in the last two days of beta? I didn't have any problems.

Grinding is the worst idea ever integrated into a game...

I would much rather have fun.

Don't worry loyal fans, just remember that Darkfall is currently feature-complete and more ready for release than most MMOs currently on the market!  Also, I am God.

Sorry, just randomly venting.

i think the way they are doing things altogether is just retarted, and it shows how suck the company is as a whole. In a game like this it is very important  to get the edge and the only edge i'm going to get is the swords when i get in 2 weeks behind in everything. LOL!

Well, I hate to bring this up yet again but....

Some of the most rabid fans told us for MONTHS, in hundreds of posts that...

1. This game had been in "closed" beta for 1 1/2 years using "professional" testers and it would be virtually "bug-free" when released.

2. This game didn't need an open beta because it was MORE ready than any other MMO ever to release.

3. This game didn't need a stress test because they had used AI Bots to simulate users and connections.

4. Tasos himself stated that the server could handle 50,000 users and that there was NO lag what-so-ever.

5. This game now had an excellent company as a publisher/distributor (Audio Visual) that would distribute this game througout Europe. In reality, Audio Visual has done NOTHING.. VIRTUALLY NOTHING! Please explain that?

Think I'm kidding here? You don't remember reading these fanboy posts constantly? Then, go do some research and check out posts by Aragon100, Downtoearth, Imbant and many more...

So... What happened?

It's relatively easy to "talk the talk", but much more difficult to "walk the walk".

There are vast amounts of people who cant even buy the game. Not to mention all the other problems it has had so far. This so called realse has been a epic failure! I hope this is one of those times where in the future you look back and just laugh about it, cause the game turned out to be worth the wait and is awsome!
