Sad, actually.  AV could have avoided most of the issues if they did proper testing on the game and their ordering system.  Their rush to release the game could be their biggest mistake and brings back memories like Vanguard.

Aha! Now we can see who's better!

WOW had 20 servers down at launch, in case of Darkfall only one has problems

20 out of WOW's 88 servers were down at least an hour during it's first weekend.  Those 20 servers were all up at least 50% of the time.   Players on the other 68 servers were unaffected and even players on the 20 servers with issues were able to play a great game for hours at a time.  Blizzard also had it's forums up and were giving hourly updates on server issues.   Probably over 80% of WOW's initial players were unaffected by the problems at launch.

1 out of 1 Darkfall server has been down for almost 48 hours straight since launch.  The only time it has been up, most players couldn't even move, and the ones that could move were busy exploiting mobs that couldn't move.   Darkfalls forums have been down since launch, and in the past 48 hours we have had 3 updates... all saying nothing.  Probably about 0% of Darkfalls initial players were unaffted by the problems at launch.

I played WOW at launch.  The only thing 'wrong' was that it took 5-10 seconds to loot a mob.  The gameplay was excellent, they mobs fought back, I could finish quests, I could move anywhere i wanted to.  For 80% of players, that is exactly what they experienced.

In Darkfall, and it's 1 server..  players can't log in,  if they do, most can't move.  The ones that can move can't fight mobs who fight back,  all they are doing is swinging at 'target' dummies and making gold.

Nice try, but you obvioulsy have no understanding of context.  Blizzard was trying to handle a huge amount of players and unexpected demand. Aventurine excplicitly limited the number of players so they woudln't have to " try to support more users than we can guarantee a good gameplay experience for".  At this time, Darkfall's one world cannot adequately support the fewer than 10k players trying to play.  As such, has Aventurine met their goal of being able to guarantee a good gameplay experience for those few players who've actually been able to log in and play?  No.

Hey pinnochio, its time to get a new computer screen because yours just got atom bombed by the huge explosion of your growing nose.

Maybe you should actually play the game next time before giving your review because what you posted here is an absolute lie.

Dont worry, they are not scaring that many people.

New players can live with bad servers at launch, its one of those problems that will go away since it always gets prioritized.

I have not preorder (couldnt be arsed to really, RL) - and im on the backburner here. But i can tell you one thing, bad server problems at launch is nothing. What will scare me off is if i do not enjoy my first and second day playing the actual game (and yes ill oversee lag problems and DCs, i will not oversee boring gameplay).

It was the same with AoC, everyone that was blizzfully unavare of the 20+ content where screaming of orgasms even thou they had sever lag problems on many occasions. PPL start leaving in masses after seeing the world outside the beautiful tortage...

I have lost alot of gaming interest the last month so im not sure if i can be arsed to get darkfall, or if ill just continue some casual gaming on my ongoing games (EvE, WoW, L2). But posts like these just tells me that the haters got nothing more to complain about then server problems (wich to mee seems more good then bad). then again i guess most ppl havent gotten to log in yet also hehe!

I have seen these issue from multiple sources just on MMORPG.com.  Just because you may have not experienced these problems, doesn't mean others didn't.

/agree

I think they got backed into a corner with the first release date, not sure what happend with Audiovisual, and they very much needed an open beta.

A PR rep wouldn't have hurt either.

And someone to update the website.

And, well...

The actual game itself, once its running, seems to be quite good. At least, what I'm looking for.

Context? Aventurine was trying to handle a huge amount of players and unexpected demand. Imo, that pressure was one of the biggest factors into a rushed launch.

And, I think, maybe, my "indie developer"(while somewhat inauspicious) might have have had something to do with context. Well, maybe, contrast even.

Peace.
