I'm sorry, but supporting someone (or company, in this case) for THEIR faults, in hopes that things will improve, is kind of unlogical. It took them 8 years of development.. They said their game was better then other mmos at launch, and they were obviously just trying to hype their game. Who's to say they will even do a great job at improving the game? Plus it just sets the standard for what companies think consumers will buy into. An indy company will say, "Hey! We don't have to work our asses off to make a mmorpg.. We can release it full of bugs, screw the billing proccess, and not worry about fan backlash! They'll feel "sorry" for us and give us their money, anyway!". As fans of this genre, we should want companies to IMPROVE the genre. EVE had a better launch, and CCP is an indy company. Daoc had a better launch, mythic wasn't a large company at the time. City of heroes had a better release then DF, and cryptic wasn't a huge company. Aventurine nutured their "hardcore" fanbase, and cashed in, releasing their game without stress testing, testing of the release client, etc, because they knew people would still buy it. I don't care how "indie" a company is.. How much potential a game has.. I won't give my money to a company that displays unethical practices. Thinking that throwing money at them will fix their problems is niave. |

Originally posted by Lajnus91 Adventurine would get peoples support if they got the product they paid for, they have not. So people are mad and rightfully so. They have had 7 to 8 years for the launch day they should have been ready, they were not and the seem to blaming the customer who purchaed the game for all the problems. So no they do not deserve anyones support, they should have gotten a publishing partner who knew what the hell they were doing. I guess we could all just fork out are banking info to them and let them take as much money as they need to "fix" there game. Oh and Tasos since we all know this is you posting, stop trolling these damn forums and go to bed, you need to get up early to make more excuses.

Support and trust are earned, not given. Aventurine has done nothing to deserve blind support. They knew what they were getting into when they decided to make an MMO, they knew what to expect when they pretty much talked smack about other MMO launches and they certainly knew what flak their empty promises and BS would bring. They claimed they wanted to make a hardcore game for hardcore gamers because they are hardcore gamers themselves. If thats the case I am sure they can handle a little hardcore criticism. |

A company is only as good as the product it produces, if the product is hampered in some way or is difficult to obtain customers begin to look toward other companies who produce a similar product. I could probably design and create a extremely comfortable footstool, but if i have problems with billing, more customers than actual product, and more than a few explanations that my customers see as excuses then my company will lose support and former customers will warn potiental consumers away from my business. This is how it works. I have no problems supporting an indie company, which i believe is where you were going with your post OP, but as i've said in other posts the problems this game is currently having isn't good especially in a saturated market the online gaming world is, they needed their A-game on this from the word 'go' and it wasn't there....they may recover, they may not but my one voice won't make much of a difference, ask anybody who supported D&L from the start or the one dragged out of Earth and Beyond or Tabula Rasa. Just because a company is small doesn't mean they're immune to mistakes nor should they not be held accountable for those mistakes.

He has this other show where he goes into failed or failing restaurants and screams and cusses them out and helps get them to fix their menus, and learn how to opperate and run a successful business. Its called Kitchen Nightmares or something. So, lets have a TV show with the angry british guy go into MMO companies screaming and cussing at them after the disaterous launches and help get the to run correctly. reality TV for gamers! lol |

Its amazing how usually fanboi and stupidity come together :) If there are too many like this then game definitely its not worth being played. That is false, maybe you even know it. They just said it was going to be staged release JUST in case they cant handle it, it was supposed that 22nd thousands of ppl would get a free trial so that servers wouldnt stress, we are at 27th and nothing yet. For me that is a fail, they knew they would have thousands and thousands of ppl so they should have be ready. Anyway any game can say JUST IN CASE everything goes bad release date will be later, saying that wont excuse your failure. Blade with whom i have lived, blade with whom I now die. Serve right and justice one last time. Seek one last heart of evil. Still one last life of pain. Cut well old friend. Then farewell! |

The thing I love about all the outpouring of "Let AV have a chance", and "They are just a small company", is how silly it sounds. The money it costs is the same, regardless if they are blizz or turbine or SOE. If they want to have 1/2 functioning crap on launch, cool. Make it free to play, if you charge a fee, you have a responsibliity. a couple free days off at the end of the free month doesn't cut it for the people who took time off work to play it. If they were a small PR firm who couldn't meet a deadline, I'm pretty sure there would n't be any 2nd chances. Recap, they are a company. They made agreements with their customers to deliver the product they sold. They failed to do so. If people want to rant and rave, thats their choice. DOn't listen, if it makes them feel better about the situation and doesn't hurt you, stay out of it. I would be pissed too if I was rooked in this way. If all the people who feel that AV failed to meet its obligations quit the game and it thunders, then AV will get no sympathy from me. |

Just because a dev company is a small company doesn't mean they have to put out a sh!tty product and do everything inferior to a big company. Why should you support a game if it sucks just b/c the company is small, instead go give money to a charity or some worthy cause. However, the game isn't horrible, and after several super patches (like the ones that happened leading to launch in beta) the game will be great (i think this will take 2 months or more). Most won't be able to play this game until the end of the month probably and don't be too eager to play this game the 1st month anyway, it will be riddled with bugs and lag without a doubt When I'm energetic I'm: When I'm at default I'm:

First of all, what the hell is wrong with some of you people? This is my first account on mmorpg.com, I'm not Tasos or anyone else, I'm just some random dude who found out about mmorpg yesterday. Well some of you people think it's not fair to give them a second chance, give them a chance to improve their game and everything else that needs improving. I think we should give them a second chance, since I really want to play this game I am going to give them a second chance (buy the game when it's possible). If you don't want to you don't have to, but if you are even slightly interested in playing this game I think you also should. |

Oke let me get this straight: 1. Tasos has been feeding lies and spitting garbage for years. Check! 2. Fanbois have been trolling other game forums for years, about how their game sucks and Darkfall is going to be the best game evah and wtfpwn their game. Check! 3. They have never bothered to do a real Beta test nor any Stress test. Check! 4. They are now blaming their paying customers, while all the screw ups are on their end. Check!
And now the OP is telling us to support them and feel sorry for them? Yeah right!
And then to think that people thought companies like Funcom or GOA were bad. haha. |

No, Aventurine needs a swift kick in the ass for this mess. The game itself deserves a chance, but not the fucktards that caused all of this drama. AV should have had a longer beta, they should have tested the account management system, they should have opened pre-orders much earlier . . . basically everything they did in the last three months has been complete and utter shit. And what really pisses me off is that they're squandering a huge fanbase that was willing to put up with their horrible communication for years. The people that followed this game from the beginning must have had the patience of saints and now they're rewarded with a total information blackout. Don't try and defend them. Defend the game if you want, but I encourage everyone who has followed this game at all to let AV know exactly how pissed you are. |
