Ok some i suppose are enjoying the game and thats good. To those moaning .Let me say this over the years indie and even AAA mmorpg have burnt us badly. So its not a good idea to pre order a mmoprg. So why complain when you pre order and things do not go as you expect.I am sure everyone on this forum has read about people's bad experience with pre ordering mmorpg games before. So why so many threads about how they pre ordered and are unhappy.Indie mmorpg are notorous for problems espically at launch including delays and poor billing. And there have been numerous threads about that for ages!

Yes, it's something called personal responsibility; nobody else should be held accountable for your idiocy. If some guy offers you a bridge in Afghanistan for 50 dollars and you buy it, then it's your own damn fault and you deserve what you get.

Well you'd think people would learn from their mistakes by now. You have the right to complain about it but you just look like a moron doing it. HEY! We all like darkfall for the risk/reward factor right? Well there ya go.. your first risk/reward scenario offered to you was pre-ordering. |

Haha, you're calling 'caveat emptor' on an MMORPG purchase? Or you're saying Darkfall is of equivalent quality to an Afghani bridge? How, exactly, is it unreasonable to expect that Aventurine could deal with a simple matter such as processing the billing information of less than 20,000 customers, over a period of 6-7 days? Let alone idiocy to expect a halfway decent level of customer service? By your logic, every fraudulent transaction or sale of a defective product is the fault of the customer. Brilliant. I have to concur, perhaps people burnt by the pre-order/launch issues have a right to complain, and forum fall would be the place except I suppose they'd risk being banned from the game. But coming here to complain is just totally the wrong move, since anyone whos followed these forums is completely aware of the risks that were being taken by the early adopters (which is why I chose to sit this one out)

People like to complain, hence complaints about people complaining. |

I agree preordering any game has a risk. Thats why I buy all my MMOs at the store now. |

No, by no means did I mean to insult Afghani bridges. It's the concept of risk that most people seem to struggle with nowadays; people should have been aware of the possibility of default, which is why pre-orders are generally compensated in some manner with an in-game item, or extra fluff. Caveat emptor holds for everything that has risk associated with it and MMORPGs ARE risky: Bigger companies, such as blizzard and SOE, have less risk associated with them than smaller firms, so if you had pre-ordered you should have been prepared for the event of default ( or delay).

with the game taking as many years as it did to final surface and then the push backs, it would only make sense not to roll the dice on trying to pre-order. i agree with the OP on this one. |

Forumfall would be the place to go but they've deemed it necessary to take that offline and don't seem in any hurry to put it back on again. There are lots of little places for Darkfall about the net but most of them are very quiet. MMORPG just seems to have achieved critical mass. Some people are complaining. Some of us just want to share information. It gets kind of lonely sitting there with "Account inactive" thrown back at you or your client won't play and the familiar forumfall community off line. I'm only here at all cos I can't get back in game...

I'm not angry. I'm not complaining. I admit that I was a noob, and I had the wool pulled over my eyes; I expected more from this little Greek powerhouse called Aventurine. However I see now that they have them same standards for quality as any other MMO onthe market. My bad. Tasos has my money. Forgotten Lesson relearned. All that in mind, this release is worse then any other, aside from Dark and Light. WAY worse then Vanguard. In Vanguard at least I played for a while and killed stuff, and did some diplo. This game, since its mainly PVP, and you cant see the mobs 9/10ths of the time, its just so fail. So utterly fail. Its hard to imagine how it could be more fail then it is. |

Indeed. I was at Vanguard's release as well and it was definitely playable; it did have problems, but you could at least log on and enjoy some content.

Caveat Emptor - "Buyer beware" That's latin for those who don't know and being that we use a long dead language to describe this kind of situation it should provide some indication to you just how long shit like this has be going on for. I think that mmorpgs launches should work perfectly and people have a right be unhappy if there are problems, however they should not be surprised when things go wrong.

There were warnings. There were tons of warnings with massive flashing neon lights. Pre-orders ignored them. There won't be any lessons learned here. The next time the same people will do the same thing and Pre-Order the next shiny thing even with hordes of people tell at them to wait. The people trying to warn them will be accused of being jaded haters rather than those who can actually remember history and learn from it.
