After my horrible DF experience last night, I decided to give DF another look, but I've been queueing for over an hour now, so I don't expect that will happen anytime soon. Now I'm sitting back reminding myslef that I broke my candinal rule: Don't play a game at launch. And to further berate myself, I'm putting the exact quote (with link) of at least one thread where I've said this. I should have known better, but the game had all the features I've been looking for and I too was duped into jumping in the fray. Here it is with link: ----- I usually NEVER sub to a game until its been out for several months. I like to wait until the honeymoon wears off for others and the second wave of reviews come through. But, what I've read about the game tells me its more in line with my style of gaming, so I'm breaking my rule for DF. ----- I'll admit that I was in the vaporware camp early on and switched when I started hearing a lot more positive reviews during beta. However, DF has done one thing. It's created a new alternate definition of vaporware: "A software product released with so many omissions, access issues, and performance problems that it's as good as non-existant." So people, feel free to call me an idiot, laugh at me, and tell me what a fool I've been. I want it to be painful so I NEVER DO THIS AGAIN. |

Hope should not be mocked. You are still grounded in reality, unlike the fanboys and haters. I am sorry for your loss. DF did look good on the features list. If I had any inkling of hope for the game, I would have been right there with you. |

Pre order experience has been quite dodgy, and there are a few minor features missing from the game that I'm sad about (mainly, and the only one I can really think of, roaming camps of mobs). However, I've experienced no bugs so far, once in game. |

So you have not played the game yet? And duh if you want to have flawless play you should never play on the launch of an MMO.....didnt you learn your lesson from almost every other MMO's launch? |

Well, its not very often that a person (especially on these forums) has the balls to admit they were even in the sliightest way wrong or that they are human and can make a mistake. So, props for that.
For once I decided to hold off on buying at first... gonna let the dust settle. Looks like that may have been a good idea. |

What's the word I'm looking for? Oh yeah, patience. What a virtue! |

You should have known. I mean who releases a PC game via digital download? They dont even have the means to burn DVD's and create boxes. |

Obviously the best way to tell yourself 'I told you so" is to make a thread about how much Darkfall sucks on MMORPG.com Even better is when you already knew what you were getting into when you preordered the game and what you were expecting happened. The moral of this story is: don't preorder games and make threads to complain about preorder issues that every game has on MMORPG.com |

Wow, its sad to see how everyone forgets that there has not been one game to come out with no problems at launch. I was not part of the vaporware group, nor a fan boy, But I just know that no release is smooth, but I do know that getting in at release in a game like this is important. If you think the same way, suck it up and wait for things to settle down which should take a few days/weeks. After all of that, this game will be what it was said to be, all those features you all be waiting for since old school UO mixed in with the sandbox style you are all looking for.

If anything is worth doing, do it with all your heart. (The Dhammapada, Buddha) |
When a game looks like Dark and Light, feels like DnL and smells like DnL, when their publisher, developper and fans feel like Farlan and their paid follower... then it wasnt hard to guess what would be the end result of Darkfall.... Dark and Light 2 the return... (if you want you can change the Dark and Light game for Mourning... same story... diferent name) |
|
I was one that got burnt my Mourning, I actually keep the disk in its original package to remind me to never preorder again... Setting next to it will be AoC... Think I might frame them or something, make them more visable. Never again, even if I manage to get into the beta, will I buy a MMO at release, It will be a minimum of 3-6 months down the road before I'll consider it. |

This game is lacking EVERYTHING that made UO "sandbox". Player Housing, an interesting crafting system, animal taming. I'm sure you can think of a few more. |

Never derogate to the cardinal rules. Hope Darkfail will do better than DnL after this major screwup, or they really need to officially rename it darkfail. Anyway, Dark & Light .. Dark fall, imo i'm adding a new cardinal rule : Never buy a game starting with "Dark" Or could be as well : Don't buy from a shitty European indy company cuz indy + european = fail. Hope that Earthrise, the Kotor MMO, The Company and DCU won't be vaporware. Too bad that AION is just L2 grindfest with a new cosmetic setup, no time to play those anymore :( Cheers guys.
