I under stand that they didint expect to succeed. But still, the launch of Darkfall has set a new low. I will still likely buy the game. I will still play the game with an open mind. But there are just red flags ..red flags I know I should be paying more attention to. I just cant stand the thought of going back to WoW that I am willing to take a risk.
Still, I have this deja vu ....its like when I didnt do my high school book report...and I frantically spent all day Sunday working on it MMORPG Characters immortalized! |

Lol, no doubt it will open soon. If you accept the game as it is you will be happy, if you bring "baggage"...expectations the game cannot fufill then perhaps you wont enjoy it. Regarding red flags, every game has issues, but in the end they are just that, a game. If you cannot enjoy it move on to something else. Frankly since I cancelled my WAR account and decided I wouldnt go back to DAOC, or err play DF(client side hacking seems to easy), I have taken up some RL hobbies to fill my free time. My yard for example looks much better nowdays. |

not sure about the beta tests you were reading, but i have seen far more beta people saying that this game isn't worth it than i have seen people saying it is worth even trying. |

I was in beta and I saw multitudes more people who enjoyed it and wanted to purchase for launch than I did who hated it and wanted to quit playing. Don't get me wrong, there were people who didn't like the game for different reasons but most who were in beta really liked it. I think the average MMORPG player who likes the standard game and is attached to a WoW like game and atmosphere wouldn't like Darkfall or would hate it. Its very very different. |

Tasos: So what you are telling me is that we have only 1000 pre-orders? And if we can't generate hype by making pre hype tonight you are pulling the plug?
AV Bean counters: You betcha bucko.

They are giving those that pre-ordered an additional 3 days to their first free months. OP thinks this launch is a new low? Well, it definitely is a setback but it doesn't mean it sets the record for the worst launch ever. People like the OP are so dramatic and forget how, for years, ALL new mmorpgs had bad launches. Of course its not as common these days because people launching new mmorpgs have much more experience (Turbine, mythic, funcom) then when they were launching their first mmorpg.

not sure why he laughed. I played the free trial from europe, by doing a proxy site, and i loved the game. Combat was very well done. While it isn't full loot or even pvp centered, i personally had a blast just fighting mobs. They act like a real team of players would, maybe better. I'm personally waiting for it, and i was going to try darkfall if they let me do it for free.
And to the other people talking about the 10s of people that pre-ordered, realize that many people are looking for something that isn't wow, and sadly there isn't much options out there. From all the combat and world vidoes i have seen from players in this game, i can't imagine why people would like it.
BTW, did they ever fix movement or do you still fall asleep walking across town. |

you know... turbine actually always had a smooth release. AC2 has exploits, but was stable. Asherons call, the first one, released very cleanly. Hell i played open beta and it was great. Then they said, "we are going live" and i signed up and bamn, i was playing.
SWG had a fairly smooth launch if i remember correctly.
Horizons which is now dead had a great launch. Stable servers, not much to exploit, very well done game, and ery fun. Died to wow.
Come to think of it, over the past 10 years or so, i think there has been more smooth launches than not smooth. Although for not smooth, i think AO takes the cake with a launch that crashed every 30 minutes or so. |
