They do nothing but lie.  They JUST said in their last update the game is ready to go.  Now all of a sudden there is a major bug?  Its ridiculous.  These people are scamming the shit out of us.  Maybe we should cancel our preorders that we were already charged for....  oh thats right, we can't because the account management page is down for no reason....

It really wouldn't take much to create a world, big or small, but some NPC's in it and some buildings, invite some people and call it a beta.  It would take a bit of cash and some work but if your gonna scam people out of a buncha money then why not?  They had no extra features they promised activated.  The world was empty.  And plenty of other features were "turned off".  No game is coming out.  How is it so hard to believe that when they contradict themselves with every pathetic exuse they utter?  And to top it all off, every form of official communication is turned off.....

It is messed up and its a scam....

actully there was anew patch with every patch theres ussly a bug depending how big it was

how about read any of my other posts and see that i did in fact get  a preorder and would love to cancel it but can't because they have the account management page down for whatever reason.

And yes I was in beta.  Me and the majority of my guild.  And yes, the game did look good, and played semi decently.  BUT with all the lies coming from the Aventurine camp it has completely ruined any interest I had in thsi game....

When you pay money for a product you expect to be able to use it. Now I understand that the company is small and does not have as many rescources at their disposal, however this is part of beta stress testing and falls heavily within the concerns of many people when they were not bringing enough people into beta. A Good and Proper stress test most likely would have aided them in avoiding this issue. Also it is natural for someone to become concerned when they have been billed for a product that they have no guaranty they will recieve.

I have plenty of patience.  Just not for being lied to, especially when money was taken.  And it's kinda hard to call my CC company 1) in the middle of the night and 2) when the charge has already cleared and went through.

It is an obvious lie, because in the last update they said the game was ready to go.  Now all of a sudden there's a huge bug.  Take the blinders off bro.

Nah no money back.  And I bought it cuz it looked good at first, had I known about the lying to come I wouldn't have.  Not trying to save anyone either.  I just get worked up and annoyed that some people can't see through the obvious bullshit they are saying.  Makes me sick how some people can be so gullible and forgiving.  By the time I saw what was happening they had already brought down the preorder servers so no dice there.  Either way its not a big deal.  Would like a refund though.

What is everyones thoughts on this?  Because the longer this chaos goes on now and the servers remain unopened.. the more plausible I see something very similar to just what I described happening here.  I am beginning to think that all the doubters, skeptics, and even trolls may have been 100% right all along.  I hope I am wrong.

 

 

Well this is launch day.  Been playing mmorpgs since UO was released back in 97 and.....I have never seen a launch go flawlessly.  Its par for the course and to be expected.  The game will launch.  It will have bugs.  There will be lag.  People will be kicked out of the server,  servers will be brought down for hotfixes that generate new bugs, etc., etc., etc.,  ad nauseum.

This is nothing new.   Though people, many who should know better, seem to be scandalized that there has been a delay.  You can wait a few months till the bugs are ironed out and then buy it  or... you can be in from server birth.  That is entirely up to you.  However, to expect a flawless launch is just not realistic at least, not in my experience.   The thrill of being part of server birth means bugs, delays and downtime.  Thats just the way it is folks.

ah ok well they are giving refundes back you prolly already know. this is exactly why im not buying mmo's at launch anymore. i can wait a couple weeks to a month so i can find out more about it before i make my purchase. who knows maybe it'll launch tomorrow and be fun. idk

The Aventurine team has been no more secretive than any other developer. I swear some of you conspiracy trolls really are crazy. But actually I probably will still be here trolling the trolls, it's the most fun I've had in a while.

And why shouldnt this be the most fun you have had in awhile, with Darkfall out of order this is about all the entertainment you can have. I know your all butthurt about it, but im sure there will be more failures in the future for you to dive in front of.

I'm certain this has been said on this discussion already but i will say it as well:

Buyer Beware.

It's prudent to give online games a bit of time before rushing off to a pre-order or to the local gaming store to snatch up a copy and with games like Darkfall that have has some problems and bumps in the road it's better to be extra cautious.

The PC gaming community has been plagued with the "ship now and fix later" mentality that some developers posess in abundance, as consumers we have to take what these developers say about the state of their games with a grain of salt.

I'm not trying to point any fingers or trying to slam Darkfall or it's staff, that's not my style and i have been suckered in myself on the "must have it NOW!" purchase and, like you, have been disappointed...so now i follow this simple rule:

People will buy no matter what, let them...in the meantime sit back, relax and watch..when the time is right and the bugs fixed and the patches start coming...buy.

See thats why we don't make assumptions.  I talk a lot of shit, but I don't really care about 50 bucks either way.  Plus, got a nice big refund this year, so really not a big deal.  Would like a refund however.

Can you please show me where to get a refund?  Because I went to the forums, mIRC, and the account management page and can't find anything.  I know I saw them letting people cancel preorders, but from what I hear, and I may be wrong, you have to do it on your account management page which is down.  Also, you needed to cancel it, iirc, BEFORE the 25th....

I may be wrong about all that though, and if I am please instruct me how to fix it so that I may do so.
