Small cy;, small funds, very very small cty (maybe 100 players in RV actually)

 - unprofessional product

- 1 slot for only 1 char

- 1 server

Because they can't pay for 2 or more servers.

- only played by fanboys. Other players are always called TROLLS: when you say the game is unplayable, you are called troll, when you say there's few subscribers you are called troll, when you say you noticed many bugs you are called troll.... or wow player...

DFO= RV
and
RV= DFO. Imo, DFO will have the same future than Roma Victor. There 's no difference between those 2 products. RV website is actually down, same way. I subscribed 2 years ago to RV,because fanboys told me these game was great, interesting and perfect for old school players.  Tried to play RV ... 10 min then stopped. The client was full of bugs , the universe empty, awfull and could create 1 char, no more no less. Couldn't try it again 2 years after, because lost my loggin/password and couldn't ask for another password etc, because there's no professional customer service.  I lost my money. I won't pay again for those things.

You can hate Eve, Wow, EQ2  or War or Lotro but all of these games have been created by professionnals, sold by professsionals and you 'll have and find in all of them a professional customer service. The only thing you can do is to avoid unprofessional products, let the fanboys pay for them, and look for another professional game, mmorpg or solo game.

Lol you know EVE started similarly to Darkfall, infact they had even less funding and an incredibly fuxed up launch:

Wiki extract regarding CCP:

History

CCP was founded in June 1997 by Reynir Harðarson, Thorolfur Beck and Ívar Kristjánsson[3] for the purpose of making MMORPGs. In order to finance the initial development of Eve Online; CCP developed and published a board game called Hættuspil ("Danger Game").[3][4] In April 2000 the company raised $2.6 million, through a closed offering organized by Kaupthing Bank, from private investors in Iceland, including the Icelandic Telco Siminn. Approximately half of the initial 21 staff were drawn from the Icelandic dotcom company OZ Communications.
[edit]Products

[edit]Eve Online
CCP currently has one video game product, the MMORPG Eve Online, originally published by Simon & Schuster, Inc. in May 2003. Later CCP hf re-acquired the rights to publish Eve Online[5] after Simon & Schuster Interactive ceased trading. Development continues in a regular free expansion release schedule.[6]

As you can see these guys were'nt pros to begin with either.

Secondly your pulling this Df - Roma Victor crap out of your arse. For starters Df's server cluster supports 10k concurrent users, not 100.

You are also talking about Df's one character per server policiy as a bad thing - if you had any idea what you were talking about you'd realise that this is in for quite a few important reasons:

-Prevent alignment exploits.

-Prevent spying / guild infiltration with no consequences (as in if you pull a heist, expect and deal with everyone knowing who you are afterwards, no hiding behind an alt).

-Forces player interaction - yep, only the hardcore of hardcore will be able to max out evey skill and keep it maxed, so you'll have to find a buddy to craft that extra thing you can't, or who has a specialist combat skill you don't.

Then I suppose you could also argue why  you would even need an alt in a skill based game since if your willing to put the time in,  you can obtain every skill - won't be easy tho!

The only thing you have got right is that they are a small dev team, inexperienced, and don't have a massive budget, give em time and they could flourish into the likes of CCP or heck even Blizzard if they are extremely fuxing lucky, but leave off on the incorrect and outright dumb comparisons with bloody Roma Victor.

That dosen't bode well I would guss they managed to keep those servers yp what an average of about 4 hours a day over the last month? I kind of assumed it was because they where doing internal tests and development on them. If that was not the case.....well oh dear.

Wouldn't that imply that they bought or gonna buy the game as soon as it is available for purchase?

I've played the game since Nov 2008. I absolutely love it, and already have some hilarious memories that I won't soon forget. I agree it isn't a highly polished game, but I'd MUCH rather play Darkfall than yet another clone MMO. I'm very happy an indie developer like Aventurine have put everything they've got into creating a game that they would like to see on the market. It's a pretty brave thing to do. They may not live up to the standards of the hordes of console-kids and MMO'ers introduced to the genre through WoW, but there is an active school of gamers that enjoy dog-eat-dog gaming environments and freedom, with very little care for absolute perfection. I fall into this school, and make no apologies for it.

Critisism of the game is always welcome, as long as it's constructive. I just find it a tad frustrating that so many MMORPG.com users seem to have nothing better to do than attempt to put the game down in every way they can possibly think of. I'm just assuming it's some form pent-up frustration from real-life social shortfalling.

My advice would be to sit back, relax, and go into the game with an open mind. If you have fun, then great. If not, then you can easily cancel your subscription and never play again.

Nice post. Rare to get a genuine fan's view rather than a vapid fanbois. I am certainly not a console kid (though of course have played the 'classics') but despite really really liking what DF stood for and what there mandate was I feel they have come up short.........so far at least.

It  is just kind of a shopping list of features. Some are on back order some things have been substituded and some are just plain out of stock. Thats not the issue.... a basket of ingriedients is not a meal let alone a gourmet meal. It takes more than a bunch of good ideas to make a good game. It takes real flair to take any ideas and design a game from them. Gameplay in DF can be fun but all those skills don't dovetail into a really well designed game experience. They have made some pretty naive mistakes too....I'd say at any time over half the players online are afk macroing, probabbly more.

I dunno it just dosent have charm, a soul if you like. If you are happy to macro to get you skills...city...xxxx (fill in any blank you like for xxx) and then play a few hours as if the world is a big arena ....well great. It's just for there to be consequences things have to matter. To have meaningful  choices doing things differently has to have differentg outcomes. I suppose 'shall I macro gathering or LM' is a choice of sorts.

Sad really = however Fallen Earth & Earthrise both potentially might offer that really beautifully designed and crafted game.

4k something in the official forums is the MAX amount of people online that has been on at one time in the recent days.. 7k people downloading the official torrent was what I saw and 1k seeding..

So there is no way 380k people are trying to preorder! Maybe like 20k-30k MAX

Could have been worse he could have compared them to Farlan/NP3 and Dark and Light (as some are). Actually though they are a ways ahead of D&L as it was when SoG was released there are similarities.

People were posting their user IDs from the preorder confirmation e-mail on the DFO forums. Biggest one was like 15k... And not all of those people actually bought the preorder, I bet. So they only have like ~14k preorders at most (= 1 server, if they really can fit 10k people on it).

Tasos = on a warm island right now with a million bucks of dumb kids pre-order money.

About the worst part of today is that these punks who pre-ordered get to slip away in relative anonymity in real life, their epic failure unknown except to those of us on the internet.  They should have to get a tattoo or brand on their forehead that says "DARKFAIL".

But wait there is still more for only and additional 9.95 you can actually log in to the game and you know play for 10 minutes before paying another 9.95 for your next ten minutes..

BUT THAT'S NOT ALL if you order now we'll throw in this DVD of all of Walt Whitman's greatest hits!!! Pure win for PvP music.  So bad it makes you angry enough to spit...
