With Mortal and other like minded titles coming out with capacity to handle more users immediately will darkfall be able to keep people interested long enough while they expand their systems. Darkfall isn't the only option out there for people who like sandbox. Fallen earth also has a lot of the same ideas and features of darkfall. I am curious how the flood of these PvP centric sandbox games make a go of it with each other. Perhaps the sandbox crowd will finally get the feast they have longed for with so many titles to choose from. Anyways, stinks about the pre-order limits I sure hope they move quickly to capitalize on their marginal success before it fades away in the glory of the next big thing. Fame is fleeting especially post launch. Gom276 |

Exactly. What it all boils down to for me is that these guys are no doubt passionate about the game. I mean this game, to these guys is there life, there futures hinge on the success of this game. They took a leap of faith, for a core niche group of gamers, to make a sandbox type of game thats like UO. We have all been waiting for so long for a game like this, and adverturine was good enough to at least try. I consider myself a rational person and I have been frustrated at times with how things have gone as well but let's just remember, that these guys want nothing more in the world for this game to do well. The way they are handling the release, even though it is frustrating for some of us to wait is just more evidence.
I really do wish them the best. I don't think they're bad guys at all. Anyone who can put together something playable and seemingly enjoyable like this deserves our gratitude and perhaps even our cash. I'm not saying it's right to just buy into everything you show an interest in but if it's something you know you're going to stick with, go for it, right? I think we need more indie companies who cater to niche groups so that perhaps we could see the next evolution of MMOGs. To address another issue right now I believe would have to be the volume of crappier MMOs out there. These shitty F2P MMOs are going to cause a mass collapse in the MMO industry pretty soon and it's really a bad thing to think about. It's going to break the entire foundation of MMOGs and all these companies are going to have to start over. I hope we see the "revolution of MMOGs" within the next 5 years because man we really need it. For the Templars... |

mmo's these days are about as entertaining as watching paint dry |
I pre ordered the game earlier today and got a buddie to let me use his beta key anyway i get ingame and i find just how clunky unpolished and horrid it is and i try to go to cancel my preorder and they shut that shit down so they are going to charge me for a game i will not play complete shit all i have to say on that
to all of you hopeing darkfall will the next big thing i will tell you it wont be im by no means picky but that was completely awful its far from what was promised i hope darkfall lasts for those who enjoy it but i dont see it happening the game is about as competently made as adventurines business practices /rant off
i just bit*hed my 50+ dollars away
have a good night all and good luck with darkfall its just not my cup of tea |

The global economic crisis has only occurred within the last year, and that's a generous timeframe. How long has Darkfall been in development? A good part of the decade? Please, "global economic crisis" is a lame excuse. |

Sorry to burst your bubble and bitch back at you. But you got what you deserved. There have been plenty of warnings, plenty of REAL leaked video footage. Hence, even some decent objective Beta reviews. So it was pretty much clear in what kind of state the game was in and what you could expect from it. Yet you just ignored all that and followed the die hard fans like a sheep and pre-ordered. Find out the hard way. And now you come here bitch about it. And on top of that. Plenty of us already had a good feeling Aventurine would pull a stunt like this to collect all pre-orders and your creditcard info and then quickly shutdown the site so people can't cancel. So there goes your cash! It was just too obvious that would happen! Right. Have a nice day. When www met dot , they then stumbled upon Secret Society , wich happened to be a Guild , wich in turn told dot about the net . |

I don't think any of us in this thread have said once that the game is perfect or by any means finished. It's playable and a lot more so than a lot of other games of the past. Give the guys a break and let them work on it, let them make it better. Stop fucking naysaying the bloody thing and move on. For the Templars... |

Its an option, and more option is always better than no option. DF, I dunno, its not even available. Right now DF offers no option, and to me that is more restrictive than WoW. It does not matter a lot, as the server is not yet available, and till then, we do not know what is what. You need to dis WoW based on a not yet tested and available game server for DF? you really have some twisted sense of humour. A single server is a single server, how good can it be? WoW have hundreds of servers, all fo them very active. You do not need pool everyone into one server just to make it look active. Do you mean to say there are just enough eager players to keep one server active? You do not know that, nor do I. DF might have only 1 server, but that does not mean it must be full. When the initial hype is over, and the dust settles we will know. Right now, you are making up all the assertions and assumptions and talking out of your head. I am not dissing DF, I know nothing about what that has not yet happened. But to have to dis WoW to try to sell DF, you are really thick. If you need to dis WoW, come up with valid criticism, tons of them. You picked the lease viable angle to criticize WoW. |

You are deluding yourself if you think players are going to hang around for 6-2 years while they "make it better" get real. I bet within one month DF will be exposed for the sorry excuse of a game it really is. The Fanboys that pre-order and then come here and complain will get a lot of stick and deserve everything they get. Stop making excuses for Tasos and crew..THE GAME HAS BEEN DEVELOPED OVER 8 YEARS...not 3-4 years. Jah Rasta For I. |

Originally posted by downtoearth But then again... there are Claus interviews that say the game goes back to 2001. On their official forums the posts by Devs start in 2001. Everything dealing with the history of DarkFall has posts and interviews going back to 2001.
Yes, Tasos has an interview that says development started in 2003. Although he only started using the 2003 date in 2008-09. Before that he was perfectly fine with using the 2001 date. Not sure why he has decided to try and shave off a couple years. Although if we believe Dev. started in 2003 that makes the announcements by Claus of Beta being ready by end of Sept. 2003, and launch to follow soon after seem a bit out of place. These announcements by Claus were well after the Razorwax - Aventurine merger, and after the move from Norway to Greece. Tasos was part of team when Claus made those announcements. So if we are to believe Tasos... they developed the game in less than a year?
So... in the end it boils down to who you believe. Tasos or Claus. Tasos is the only Dev. on the team that maintains the 2003 Dev. start date. The rest are perfectly fine with stating that it's been an on-going development since 2001.
In the end it doesn't really matter. The game needs to speak for itself come the 25th. 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, 15 years... all that won't matter in the end. What will matter is if the game is what the Devs have said it is, and it's fans find it worth re-subscribing to. |

lol you're going to get so owned in this game. you're afraid of it's greatness. TBH i'd pay to play it as it is right now, without a chunk of it's features on.
It IS that good.
edit: i accidently deleted the idiot's name who trolled that..... Gonzolas or Guerrero or something. |

Honestly if you really wanted to get rid of the 'trolls' then you have to just ignore them and stop feeding into their need for attention. Stop posting responses, arguments, troll hate, whatever. They will get bored and go away. AoC had horrible trolling when it was first released and it didnt stop until the trolls' accountes expired and couldnt post anymore. Why was this? Because fanboys and trolls fed off one another. One side wanted to prove to the world that the game was OMGBBQAwsomesauce, the other that the game was made by FailCom or FunCon. Neither could be swayed so there was a never ending cycle of hate on the forums and probally helped drive players away. By posting troll hate you only incite them further. |

cept this game sucks more than even AoCs release ever could This is a message to the general populace of MMORPG.com as it is literally a black hole of fun that once you are swallowed up by, it is very hard to escape and makes everything in gaming a little less fun. Best thing you can do is do your own research and stop reading these boards because nothing will ever be good enough and everything will suck always forever if it makes its way into a discussion here. |

Pretty simple IMO. It got started like this: I am looking forward to AoC, I think it will have cool PvP. "AoC sucks, you should try DF!" I miss SWG. It was a great sandbox game..." "SWG was crap, wait till DF comes out!" I like x,y, or z. crafting, questing, etc. "The game yuou are looking for is DF! It's got all that and more! It's the best game evar! (even though it's not released yet)." I don't like the direction current games are going in. They are to solo friendly... "Darkfall will revolutionize the MMO industry and grouping. You need to check out Darkfall! It is the best game evar! (even though it's not out yet). " I think people just got tired of it. That sort of thing just eventually created a backlash. I don't think anyone cares about DF to much, they just got annoyed by the fanbois.
