I miss the good 'ol days too. I wasn't much for raiding at the time though... I was that pesky rogue in STV ganking raiders going to ZG or that poor priest standing pvp flagged in IF AH. WoW was fun in it's vanilla state. For me the expansions are just sugercoated disappointments.

I remember the good old days of wow. I remember being in the Beta and alpha and all the changes. It was a fantastic game untill TBC changed everything and it all went down the toliet. Was a great game till all the expansions, I wish they brought out a server that was just old school wow before all the expansions. Now that would be fantastic.

Good old days?

Even I've played world of warcraft since beta and I have yet to use the term "good ole days" for this game. The only MMORPG that deserves such reverance, for me at least, is EverQuest.

I remember when I drooled over the combine weapons and dervish rings.

There were some good times way back in the day. Back before BGs came. I remember long nights raiding the everloving fuck out of Hillsbrad. Oh man, good times.

I played alliance (I have redeemed myself and now play horde) back when Redridge Mountains was known as the Horde Stomping Grounds...fun times.

I remember those times too, the falling through the world. I also do remember the Redridge fiasco. I started as alliance a long, long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Was horde ever after and up to the day I quit (for the 500 millionth time).

That's it? I remember several instances where we would get on a boat and head to the opposite continent, only to have the boat disappear and drop us in the middle of the ocean, where we would die from Fatigue, and then instead of getting teleported to the graveyard, we would end up in someplace random like Stonetalon Mountains.

If I remember correctly, you may be able to still find screenshots of the boats sticking out of the side of the mountains there as well.

WoW has been balanced to pure fail for all the dear casuals.

Lets see how long it takes for a casual game to get full with casual 4 year olds and get an even worser community than right now.

So... if Blizzard offered 'old school' or 'pre-Expansion' servers, is that where you would play?

Yeah ... the good old days of grinding a dungeon for weeks on end for a pair of gloves. Not enjoyable.

From a casual perspective I'm enjoying WoW more than ever. I never got to experience a raid pre-WotlK and now I'm able to fit one in even in my limited time frame. Sure the pre-TBC raiders might be unhappy with the new casual-friendly approach, but you had your time guys.

LOL zayne makin himself look terrible and doing a damn good job too. Wotlk raids arent even raids  you walk in greet th boss and put on your new epics. The point of a raid is for it to be hard not to just up the amount of players you can do it with.

Any way all this nostalgic talk about WoW is really strange lol Id never expect it on this sight with all the hate that goes on here for no reason.

This is a message to the general populace of MMORPG.com as it is literally a black hole of fun that once you are swallowed up by, it is very hard to escape and makes everything in gaming a little less fun. Best thing you can do is do your own research and stop reading these boards because nothing will ever be good enough and everything will suck always forever if it makes its way into a discussion here.

Lol I'm very aware of how I'm making myself look. I know how the pre-TBC players view WoW nowadays and nothing is going to change that. I'm not criticising their opinions or gaming preference, but I think they often have a misconception about the type of people that enjoy WoW now. We aren't all 10 year old ADHD suffererers with a need for instant gratification and something for nothing.

The fact of the matter is that people have other commitments in life other than gaming, and raid preparation/grinding should not take precedence. Yes WotlK raids might be a cakewalk for hardcore raiders who cut their teeth back in the day of the 40-man, but to the average gamer who can only play for an hour or two a night they still present a challenging - but not overly taxing or frustrating - experience.

Good answer Zayne!  Glad I'm not the only person that is thinking like that anymore.  I've always thought I was of the hardcore and insane players that wanted massive difficulties and penalties and huge endless raids that you died 1000+ times to figure out.

In recent months I've come to like a more casual nature and take my time and have the opportunity at all these raids I never got into.  I always had the time to do them but I never did cause of their exuberant  complexities and difficulty for me.  Was more into solo and getting things done or I felt it was a waste of my time.

As you said the hardcore raiders had their time and while WotLK doesn't have the hardest raids atm, they are coming.  One is coming in the next update and more are on the way.  WoW has transformed into a primarily raiding for gear MMO since its launch and Blizzard hasn't forgotten that, but I like their decisions to allow a much larger percentage of the casual crowd a chance at these raids.

Pre-BC I had 18 characters at lvl 60 and several below cause I never got into the raids or gear farming and got bored so I made a new character each time.  This time however and with the achievements there is much more to do on a single character than all those previous ones together as well as the chance at some raiding.

Thing is that the early pre-BC raids were not really that hard either.  When my guild started raiding MC, the biggest issue was training up our tanks and have the rest of the raid group learn to coordinate.  Once we got that accomplished we put MC and Ony on farm within a month and were pushing our way through BWL when the expansion made things moot.  The big problem with those raids was that we had to go back to them over and over to gear up.  The challenge of beating new content was great fun.  It was the repetiveness of it that made raiding a chore.  After experiencing raiding in vanilla WoW I actually swore off instances until WotLK.

I think it is silly how people think WoW used to be so much better or something.. I have had it since launch and I think it's pretty much the same. Now if you look at SWG, I can understand where people are coming from...
