The reason is simple. DF fanbase primarily consists of people that enjoy only ganking and pking in a game and stealing all their loot. While I do not disagree that most of that stuff is fun sometimes and am not arguing those points, it brings out the immature crowd. For example all the people that camped your corpse in AoC when it first came out right next to the res point. Same immature people.

Actually there is nothing to apologize and nothing yet to gloat over.

When the game launches, has 10,000+ players playing on each server (as Tasos claims they can), has all the promised features, is stable and not crashing, has no major exploits being used to destroy the playerbase (ala AOC), is actually fun to play (unlike WAR), and is everything the fanbois think it will be, then there may be reason to gloat or apologize. Until then, we shall wait and see.

Now here we are, present day. What do we have? We have so many people trying to buy the game that its CRASHING THE WEB SERVER. Aventurine has announced they're getting 20x the number of connections per second than they estimated and they're trying to deal with it now but upping their systems AGAIN.
Overwhelming majority of reviews say the game is great, could use a tiny bit of tweaking and balancing, but all the systems are there. Aiming arrows and spells, advanced AI, sieging, ship combat, twitch melee system, all the features they promised (with the exception of roaming mobs) are there, and people are scrambling to buy the game.

And here you sit, many of you former vapor trolls, trying to find anything and everything you can to bring the game down, just so you don't feel like a total moron. What happened to rooting for the underdog? 30 people in Greece delivered game with more depth, soul, and uniqeuness than any release in the past 4 years (except for EVE).
Let's look at Vanguard, a game which I loved. At launch, 8/10 quests were bugged, servers were plagued with horrible lag, client crashed and blue screened almost every hour, almost every major system from quest encounters to ships were broken, grouping bugs, bugs EVERYWHERE.
Age of Conan, launched with maybe 1/20 of its major features intact and lacked any content past level 20. The performance was fairly bad, and each zone got instanced if more than 50 people entered it. You couldn't even go back to noob zones if you were a high enogh levels. Dev response "Why would you want to?"
Now we have Darkfall, virtually every complaint that got brought up in beta was addressed within 2 days. What they're working on now, is a better rogue flagging system and a bit of the skill progression so that things are more worth it earlier on. They've already overhauled magic twice and done a fantastic job. World was too empty? Virtually every camp has been turned on now, people were whining cause they had them turned off to test the AI nodes, now I haven't seen an empty one in 2 weeks.
The game could use a little touch ups, but its rock stable, and all the features are there. But some people just loooove to make mountains out of mole hills.

 

 

The game is real, so you lost that battle, no matter how many times you tried to ressurrect it. I think my favorite moment was when you guys said "The DDOS was faked to give them more time!" The reason I was laughing my ass off during that is because the day of the DDOS I got my beta invite.

Moderators have left darkfall forums lol, you should have seen the post that pretty much said darkstar was a fanboi tool and had a poll for people to vote on it, it went for like almost 8 or 9 pages before the mods desided to close it.

No how about the fans claims that Aventurine would be be free to play before you pay for everyone? I personally remember the OP trolling the AoC boards and calling it crap while proudly proclaiming the the virtues of DF a few months back. (So many of the fans were actually trolls themselves. I always found the double standard funny.)

  I'm glad Df is coming out, I'm glad that Df fans now will have the game they have wanted, and hopefully this will be a boon to the genre overall. personally I've never called DF vaporware or even crap. Though I did and still do say tis graphics are not anywhere near being better thens AoC's, and have personally seen the Aventurine Devs prove the fans to be liers ie no 200 vs 200 battles, no not everyone will have a chanc eto try the game free before they have to pay for it as more then a few of the fans claimed.

  Time to bury the axe now guys. Darkfall fans do your gloating victory dance as you did back with the 2008 release date, and the jan 22 date etc etc. it will finally be out this time, but please don't lie to yourselves and say you were all right about everything. that level of dellusion can't be good for anyone.

I'm a darkfall fan and I am never wrong, besides WAR, but that was blind mythic/daoc love. I could have sworn those instances would not be that big in WAR, boy was I just wrong.

The guys a volunteer mod, I have been a volunteer mod before for on other forums. I have also been a volunteer GM. The game was good I said so, If I thought the game was crap again I said so. Volunteer is just that, a Volunteer. They don't get compensated, they don't get praise, they get nothing out the deal but a migrain and a bunch of ungrateful little chits sending PM's complaining like they can do anything about it and acting like everything is there fault.

 

You guys want to jump on Signus fine, he never claimed not to be a Volunteer mod, he came here with his Forum name. Even had a nifty little M there which I would assume meant moderator. I actually remember a nifty little thing going on between Famine and Avery from FC. That was a hell of a lot more shadey than Signus comming here with HIS name lol.

 

In any case, any chance you guys actually have something worthwhile to gripe about yet or are you still grasping at straws? I mean the latest thing about mounts didn't pan out so I am assuming your still grasping.

Also as he trolls here and the Mods are allowed to ban anyone on the Aventurine forums that posts something they don't like here its kinda funny. Me, personally i made the mistake of disagreeing that DF's graphics are better then AoC's, and Back in 2008 after waitng for a video to be released "in a few weeks" as was anounced by Aventurine in May i didn't bnelieve it would be out in August. In darkfall you don't have to grind to get some palce you just have to know people go with your friends and start having fun, if your anal about how your skills such then sure go wander alone shooting magic missle at trees whatever you find fun.
