Not at all, most EQ2 players dont even know darkfall.

Beside, you should know they are different games, Everquest 2 is more about the Adventure, Lore, Content, RPG, Friendly and Mature Community, Dungeons, Raids - darkfall is more about pvp, fps combat, ganking, gvg etc.

In fact EQ2 community is even growing, a lot of new players, returning people etc.

There's always a couple people on the Nagafen server going on and on about Darkfall, which causes the others to retort with "Cool story bro" and "nobody cares."

I don't think those who like the EQ2/WOW/LOTRO/etc. type of gameplay would enjoy Darkfall.

Currently playing: EverQuest II

Tried: EVE Online (will return someday), Final Fantasy XI (didn't like, sorry)

Not for me, I will get back into the game as soon as I get home from Havanna in 2 1/2 weeks. Been away since May but it is time to start again.

I don't think the DF and EQ2 crowd are the same type of players, they differ a lot.

I will be staying with EQ2.

I have been following Darkfall for about 4 years now. While I Liked what they said they were offering. It appears from all the videos and Forums I read, that it will not be the game I thought it would be.

I was hoping for a good sandbox game, instead it will be a fps pvp game with a little bit of crafting. Not my cup of tea. I hope it succeeds for those that are looking for that, but, I am not one of them.

I also agree that Most players on EQ2 do not know about darkfall or would be interested in it.

When Darkfall is brought up on Antonia Bayle, the only responses I see are in ridicule of DF.

Pretty much the same thing I see on every site and in every game I've been in when the discussion turns ( very briefly ) to Darkfall.

You'd think that would send a message to the fanbots and amateur devs of DF. But they are stubborn in their idiocy, trying to spread their "gospel" where it is not wanted.

While the crafting really isnt what they said it would be, it, imo, is better than any other crafting system out right now.

Not really.. It's not better than UO of course, but most of the "good" games nowadays, it is better than.

Yes, it's WAY better. You don't have to step one foot outside the safezone of the city , so harvesters have nothing to fear from gankers and there's no reason to even bother with any other nodes you may find in the world since they all give the same material. Just clicky clicky clicky and skill on up. LOL

The official review from Massively.com spells it all out in black and white: http://www.massively.com/2009/02/19/anti-aliased-special-edition-hands-on-with-darkfall/#continued

Quote:
Resource nodes randomly drop materials, giving no warning what they will produce. So, getting 5 resin took me about 15 minutes of harvesting, which meant 15 minutes of staring blankly at my screen. You only have four resource nodes too -- trees, rocks, metals, and bushes. They all spawn everywhere, so there's no reason to go harvesting things outside of the safety of your starting town. No reason to go into the dangerous wilderness

That quote is incorrect. You have to find other things to harvest, just than the normal stone or ect. You may not always find metal in the starting area. And this goes for other things too.

No. Sorry but all MMO crafting system sucks. Vanguard is probably the best but it is not good enough either.

When I see a game where I can design the item myself (like when you made an item with the Aurora toolset in Bioware Neverwinter nights) I will be happy.

Crafting should be like character selection, you have points to allocate depending on how good you are you get more points and options. You select the skin in the same way you select the skin of your character. Is that too much to ask for?

All MMOs crafting are basicly about grinding. You grind resources and clicks a few buttons, in EQ2 and Vanguard you counter effects but they still don't focus on the friggin item. Why do my sword (at a certain skill/level) look the same as everyone else?

Tasos is that you?

Eh people might leave, they always do for the NEW game ... especially as this one has been hyped up as the anti WoW. As someone who hates WoW I would play WoW for hours on end before I would even touch Darkfall.

the game looks and feels like it has been made by two drunk college kids with a MMORPGs for dummies program.

I was invited the Darkfall beta at the end of October.

Being a 'sandbox' type game that boasts a lot of unique features, I was determined to like it.

However, I was very much let down and have no intention of buying the game.

Like another poster said, not many EQ/EQ2 players have even heard of it. They're not like the modern MMO players that tend to be forever looking around for the next big thing

Eq2 is the game that *for me* has the most content, and thats whats bringing people back.

Some may try out darkfall, but all i hear or see is not promsising enough that i would say eq2 players will stay there.

I take a wild guess and predict DF will tank ;)

Then it must be just the people you talk to because I haven't heard that from a single member of either guild I belong to.

Every single time there's a new game released, people start posting on here "are you leaving for such and such game?" . The answer is always the same. Maybe they will, maybe they won't, but most people come back eventually.

I don't know if these guys are being paid but they should be.  I've seen them in eq2 and in vanguard in ooc type chats making a ruckus about the second coming to games, darkfall.

No nobody is going to darkfall.  The game is destine to fail if it really comes out at all.  It is an FPS style MMORPG.  It is heavily PvP based.  It has almost nothing to appeal to the typical pve oriented MMORPG gamer.

This assumes it isn't still born due to bad design, bugs, and server issues.

No compromise, even in the face of Armageddon.

2/20/09 8:37:51 PM#24

I really can't imagine that; EQ2 and Darkfall are so fundamentally different and thus for almost the opposite kind of gamer. Maybe one or two try it out of curiosity, but I can not seriously imagine anyone who is content with EQ2 have a good time with Darkfall - or any Darkfall lover having been in EQ2 any more than... 2 minutes?

SOE will buy Darkfall in 6 months anyway, muhahaha. XD

Just kidding.

It wont live that long. *ducks* =P

yeah I don't think Darkfall will pose much of a threat to casual mmo populations...but I can see TOR possibly making a sizable dent if it has a successful launch.
