Yes i will preorder since i love the game.

So will all 100 in my guild.

+90% of beta testers will preorder.

Thanks again.

Crafting is alright.  Can be addictive and most of the stuff in game is craftable.  It is time consuming though, and harvesting is nothing new from other games.  It is pretty basic, but recipe researching is fun, and there are lots of rare things to harvest.

It is profitable and viable, but not everyone can do it.  It is set up where it takes some dedication so that crafters will make money and be viable.  Not everyone will be crafting just to make their own stuff.  It is much more viable to just enjoy yourself and buy from crafters.

Also I will be preordering, and us beta testers get first dibs so .

Not that most of you around here care since you hate hte game so much.

Nice to know :)

Also, I have been playing M&B (Mount and Blade) since I was never fortunate enough to get an invite. How similar are the two? Or are they completely different? The reason I ask is that I keep hearing comparisons being tossed about.

Well Mount & Blade is better sword, mount, and moutned archery combat.  I guess to me Darkfall is an acceptable port of M & B to an MMO dealing with all the massive networking issues.  Combat can be great fun though or it can be just ok depending on how you go about it.

I will take this rare opportunity to agree with Aragon.  If you are looking for pvp with full looting and conquest, this one is fun.  Yes, I will preorder.

Being a skeptic, I do have some reservations.  The biggest being server performance under retail level loads.  But so far, it has met or exceeded my (low) expectations.  As long as this thing holds together under load, I think they can fix the rest of the flaws.

I will pre order. No question about it.

And about crafting, this is the first time i have crafted in a MMO! Not because i think its fun, but because i really need the items to survive.

So in a sense its crafters paradise.

Oi, I do have one more question...

How is the Ping / Lag / Conn playing from NA?

I run about 120 from GA.  It ran smooth throughout.  I remember grouping with a Dwarf from Germany and we tested some and it was just fine.  Perfectly playable for me at all times.  There was a time that they had a patch that reduced fps and in turn raised ping.. not sure what was up with it but they fixed it within a couple days.

The ping from Boston, MA  is 100-110.

There hasn't been too much lag at all, I only noticed a little the other night near a heavily populated city and even then combat was fine and I only had a MOB warp a couple times.

No lag issues at all in New England.

Magic is something i have no interest in. So i cant answer about that. Same with mounts. I have done four characters and have not manages to get a mount by any of them. You need teamwork i guess

And lag: i have tested DF with two computers. My old one from late 2004, i could play without any annaying lag, except in combat. With my new computer i have had none lag.

1. don't know

2. don't really know, but i believe you put it in your toolbar and then press the appropriate number

I'm positive about the rest.

3. You need skill rank 50 in lesser magic.

4. Yes, some staff have advantages, higher damage or lower casting time (from what I know), and some have both advantages and disadvantages, like higher damage and higher casting time, and vice verca.

You need to be lucky to get a mount, you need to find a material from herbing, then acquire a skill and buy a whistle. Or give the material to someone that has the skill and a whistle. Or loot the material from a player and then give it to someone that has the skill and a whistle.

Or, and this is the best way, wait for some idiot on a mount to dismount and then ride off on it.

stability,ingame graphics,content,balance issues.

this is what i want to know about

Stability: It's as stable as a finished game, however it hasn't been stress-tested, so it's as stable as however many players are playing at the moment.

Graphics: They're decent. The animations aren't that great, though.

Content: The content is really all about other players. I didn't find it that enjoyable fighting mobs by myself, but playing with a clan (looking for clanstones, warring other clans, group fighting vs pks) is where the bulk of the enjoyment is.

Balance: There probably won't really be any balancing issues since there are no classes. If one skill is the best for something, then everyone will get it and it will balance itself that way. Fighting is definitely a lot more fun when you can switch between a bow, a sword, and a magic staff all for one fight.

thats a lie, if you ever played swg you would know nerfs are balance.....especially in most sandbox games.

There are no balance issues in df plain and simple There arnt any lvls.

Lets stop the balancing issue question. There is none in Darkfall, since its up to you to use everything as you want. A bow might be über for me, and totally wotrhless for you, and the way around. So its pointless to ask about it.

That's not a lie. When people ask about balance in MMOs they generally want to know "are orks better than humans?" "are archers better than mages"?

But in a game like this, the answer will be different because you can be any race with any skillset. There are no classes.

So if something is really strong, it's not like one group won't be able to take advantage of it - everyone can.

Spot on, there. If your getting owned buy someone with the same gear as you, your skill at playing is less then theirs plain and simple. Everyone gets the same stuff, but the way a person uses what they have gives the advantage...

I was naked with a starter pole arms and killed a chainwearing elf, with a desent weapon, why cause i out fought him. this scenario is the scenario everyplayer of DF will have to endure. Dosnt matter about what you got it matters how you use it, and your environment to your advantage. If you climb a tree you have better veiw then that heavy armored idiot below that doesnt know where that bowe shot is coming from, cause he doesnt know to look up at the simple armored guy with the noob bow.

Ohh btw yea you can climb trees, giant mushrooms etc, your environtment is your life.

Of course there are balance issues.  The issues are there - but of the "flavor of the month" variety.  Of course, some races complain that there starting stats are not balanced too...but that is not what I was talking about.  OK?

No, let's not.

With that:

  • At max skill level, how do each of the combat disciplines measure against each other?
  • At what point does the soft-cap kick in? In other words, when does it start to be a real pita to gain skills?
  • Are there killer deer and llamas? (They scare me...)
  • Just wondering if there was the UO one-shot heavy xbow, or the sooper-dooper war hammer issues.

That's all for now.

Hey Daarco I've been in the beta for a while too, started of as Human.

Where you started did you find the world lacking in mobs / npcs / nature as much as I find?

I got a couple questions

1. Is stealing skill in the game? I loved my thief in old UO. Was one of the best chars I had.

2. How about necromancy magic? What is it like? I love necromancers but UO implemented it weak . Also is there any place available on the net or anyone give a list of spells for the magic skills?

As to the crafting issue;

Grind grind grind and grind some more if crafting is your bag and no way to sell anything if you do unles you want to WTB somewhere and then likely be jumped and looted.

Seriously this crafting system is the worst Ive ever seen. The items from mobs so far are as good as anything crafted and so much easier to get. They did help the gold sink on low items but theres some serious lack of thought put into crafting. If this is you thing you may well want to pass on crafting or darkfall.

Oh and this is pretty much the concensus across the board on beta forums.

No stealing in game.

Magic was pretty much left alone by most testers due to a grind simular to crafting so maybe someone else can answer.
