The hate on this site is directed against the success of Wow. People blame their empty servers in other games on Blizzard.

But you have to be honest, Blizzard makes very good games that keeps you playing.

I  have a box here in front of me of Warcraft 1 (1994). On the box it is mentioned:

"You'll be up all night !" - PC Gamer.

Programmer Michael Morhaime and manuel design Chris Metzen...(among others).

Nothing changed really.

Just restarted DiabloII 5 days ago.  10 years old and still very playable even on line.

In playing D2, I realised all elements of Wow were alreday in it. So I think the new MMO of Blizz will NOT be a complete departure of the questing lines and gear.

WoW has sometimes more in common with WC1,2,3 and Diablo1,2 than EQ.

They are older than EQ too. I think most of you guys should play D2 before making comments on how much Wow copied EQ.

Of course! Blizzard is known for releasing quality games. I am seriously hard pressed to name one game from Blizzard that sucked.

People may hate WoW for it's success and for bringing the MMO genre to the mainstream but it was bound to happen eventually anyway.

Blizzard made a good game that attracted a new crowd to MMOs, although not the existing one. For that I can't really criticize them, even though I think WoW is a quite dumbed game. So if Blizzard created my dream MMO I wouldn't as much as think about not playing it; who cares about the developer anyway really...? It's not some kind of fight between me and Blizzard, but rather an egoistic search for the best game.

My dream game would be a Star Wars MMORPG or Diablo MMORPG. So if they made one of these, yes i would.

Blizzard makes games for the massmarket, usually my taste is not equal to the massmarket, so it wont happen ;/

I find this poll flamatory and pointless - If it was their "dream MMO" of course they would play it

i don't know why people hate blizzard, personally i thanks blizzard for created a standard for all mmorpg. If it wasnot for blizzard we still be playing pre-beta buggy released games. so if anyone could created a great sand box, player control economy system, dream mmorpg, it will be blizzard.

never hated blizzard, i just never got into WoW, its simplicity does not attract me.

blizzard makes awsome games, take Diablo I/II/III(soon)  Starcraft I/II (soon) Warcraft I/II/III those are brilliant games. so of course i would play if they made my dream MMO, but i doubt they will.

i believe there is a misconception on the people who do not play WoW. they may hate it they may not be interested by it, but hating blizzard? i dont think its the case. its the game they hate/dislike/are not interested by it.

EDIT : I would actually play my dream game if anyone would make it... (exept SOE, i just know it wont be my dream game for long)

I play the game even if Microsoft made it...

But I don't hate Blizzard, loved Diablo (but not D2) and liked Warcraft 3. My problem with them is more that I think most of the best person they had have quited, now they have only Kaplan left. Of course new talents must pop up somewhere, my issue with Wow is more that it is not really aimed at me, the difficulty level just don't fit me.

But you just can't like all the games and if Blizz make a game that fits me better I would play it of course.

First, Id like to just point out (one more time) that this is a silly question.

And because I do have a silly side, I will answer...

Of course I would... It's my DREAM MMO for cryin out loud!

Naturally, after a few months I'd get bored with it and go back to playing CoX till the next "bitchen" MMO comes out...

Blizzard are outstanding game devs and a great company.  Just cause WoW is not my cup of tea or a lot of people's doesn't mean their other games will be bad.  Diablo 3 is going to rock house.

Agreed, it really is a silly question.

Its like asking "if your dream girl (or guy) asked you to marry them and live happily ever after, would you?"

Of course I would play the game and, being my 'dream MMO' I would possibly play it till it lost all of its appeal.

Once that happens I would just move on to another game.

I disagree entirely. I think you would be surprised at how many people would not play a game - regardless of how perfect it is - because they have a vendetta against a particular company. Do not underestimate the martyrdom of some gamers.

No, it's like your dream girl/boy asking you to marry them, but you suddenly find out they have some flaw in their character or skeleton in the closet, that you, personally, find unforgiveable. Obviously the number of people that wouldn't play a game because of a company that developed it would be in the minority, but a minority is still a number.

I'm starting to think maybe I should have chosen a more controversial developer like SOE or EA to get a better reaction.

Sure. I'd play it, but the reason I don't play WoW is not because I dislike Blizzard. Blizzard is and always has been a great developer. I just don't like the Warcraft IP and setting. I think the lore is half-assed, with too many holes and missing pieces. And the storyline is the major reason why I play games. Wether that is developer created, or created by the players in a sandbox. Storyline is key for me, and I just don't like WoW's story.

But I'm sure I'll try out their new MMO just like I tried WoW. =)

I do believe deep down you are labouring under the misconception that people do not like WoW (not liking Blizzard is a bit of a red herring) because they have a hidden agenda, and not because they just didn't like it.

If anyone made my dream MMO i would play it...unless they maybe caused mass genocide to fund it or some other horrific act. Otherwise i would play it! hell if the OP made my dream MMO i would pay £40.00 a month to him for it.

It might be a misconception - which is in part why I've created this poll. I think i'm trying to get into the mindset of some of the posters on here who vehemently air their hatred for WoW and Blizzard, and try and gauge just how deep that bitterness goes.

I can fully understand why people are against the practises of SOE and the like, as they are blatantly immoral. Blizzard in comparison seem like a pretty reputable outfit. Yet people still moan that they pander to the masses, are corporate sell-outs, or are going the way of SOE with their supposed RMT practices (paid character changes).

I have to admit it is quite heartening to see that majority of posters do have their heads screwed on and that the dislike toward WoW and Blizzard isn't completely irrational. However, there are still 5% (at this time) who would never play a Blizzard game again. It is this minority I'm most interested in. What has Blizz done to them to make them feel that way.

While I may not agree with the direction Blizzard has driven MMORPG's, I have nothing bad to say about the quality of their products.

Blizzard has always been a top notch company in terms of product quality and customer support.

I enjoyed WoW for a good amount of time before totally burning out on it.

I can honestly say I'm disappointed in Blizzard for failing to properly reinvest in continuing development and some of the design decisions as the game evolved, but I have no ill will towards them.

Now, SOE has done enough over the years to sort of poison me against them. A great new title from them would have some hurrdles to overcome before I'd give it a chance, but if they produced such a title and it was still generate positive feedback and maintaining good populations after six months, I'd be willing to give it a shot.

I have never felt any hatred towards WoW, in fact if it wasn't so large I would be totally indifferent to it. I do believe that it is naive to believe popularity is a good measure of quality, but that is not a reflection on Blizzard or WoW, just a very common social group construct.

Being told you should like something, when you don't, just because a lot of other people do, can get very wearing. Which is probably behind a lot of the aggression towards WoW. There are also those people who seriously think it is stifling variety and those that just hate anything large and popular.

You focus would appear to be the last group which I am sure does exist, although in smaller numbers than those just tired of hearing about WoW and how big it is.
