if you expect darkfall to be half shit, cuz its developed by some unknown company , why dont get done with it.. and conclude.. that darkfall cost 20 bucks, and montly fee is 5 bucks.. cuz its half crappy thing.. and lets be done with this? oh since when 10 mln considered as low budged.. to be even called indie.. you would expect gaming company with 50-100k to be called indie, but with 10 mln to start with + good funding it received, ( according to fanboys on this forum , claiming that darkfall crew is well funded )
PotBS was done by an indy dev group. They were good on cash as well. Just because you have a fiscally sound company doesn't make you non indy.

BTW Blizz originally launched WoW on server farms hosted by AT&T separately on the East and West Coasts tied directly to MAE-West and MA-East, and didn't shift over to their own servers until around the time of the first expansion when they purchased several thousand machines. I thought I had read the 10K / server number, I don't understand where some people still think that it will be one massive shard like EVE, that is unless I missed a Taco's lie somewhere in the last 8 years. |

It was originally stated by the High Lord Idiot Tasos that Darkfall would be a single server game. However, anyone who has seen the problems they've had with only 1500 people on the servers knows that s not going to happen. These people are not CCP and do not have the knowledge of running everything on one server they profess to have. There will be more than one server ( long before they ever have 10k people concurrently on their one server ), and Tasos will be forgiven by the fanbots just like with everything else he's lied about. |

Thank you Zorvan, as you did in our DnL discussion days you bring light to an otherwise Dark (bad pun I know) world. EDIT: You know maybe Tacos never lied!!!! Maybe they only ever planned on having 1 server with 10K slots in their database to be shared between fawnbois and NPC's

No, they have a server provider, if they fill up one server they will have the money to bring up another one pretty fast. Think of it this way, how fast do u think they want to make MORE money ? THATS how fast the next server will come up.
Leave it to good old GREED to expedite matters.

you are wrong sir, completely wrong. Why should they rush, if they let so many in at a time The idiot wowheads will quit and they don't have to have over inflate there capacity. They stand to make a lot more money... also the "Cartmanland Theory" |

the real joke here is people thinking DF is supposed to be simultaneously the best themepark game ever + the best sandbox MMO ever, that the devs have unlimited money & resources, and releasing your first big MMO to more anticipation we've seen in recent years is supposed to be easy.
it's like the closer the release date gets, the more irrational the claims and expectations get.
This just gets funnier by the day,...so lemme recap the fanboys that were defending so adamantly before that this game was going to be the before and after in mmo history now say "hey, but wait the company is really small and they are not going to deliver what was said when was said....but it's still the best mmo in history! it really is! trust me!" remember the sound of my EVIL ECHOING LAUGH when this thing all falls apart. Good bye DF FANBOYS. 666 |

Yea this game is really shaping up to be a complete and utter failure. It is beginning to remind of DnL with how the mods over at the official forums are locking every fucking thing down that they see. ANYTHING and I mean ANYTHING having even a remote hint of negativity towards Ave or DF are getting locked and deleted and the users are getting banned. It is fucking ridiculous. I am praying each night that this game and Aveturine goes down in flames with Tasos waiving the white flag and claiming bankruptcy.... It sucks because I used to be one of the diehard fanboys, well maybe not diehard but I was very into this game. I have since moved on to MO and will in no way shape or form be ordering this game and neither will the 30 or so of us..... I just hope that a lot of others wake up before it is too late and see this game and this company for being what it truly is. A fucking joke...... Not that its vaporware because I believe there is a game, BUT I also believe that it is a horrible empty mess..... I mean how do you have to get rid of NPC's to make room for players. I understand bandwith and yada yada, but seriously, what company actually has to remove NPC's because of their shitty coding. I am in my 2nd year of my bachelors in networking and have taken plenty of scipting classes and while its hard yea, but I could probably code it better than that...lol. Well maybe not but you get the idea....

9/10 that made me giggle
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed. |

It's a single world. One shard. It's like Eve. You don't add a new server, you build on the infastructure to support more concurrent players; just like CCP has been doing. Or if they have a great enough demand, as far as NA users go, they will build another cluster to support the NA player base. Something else I got from the interview. I'm beginning to suspect that there a lot of people out there that don't fully understand that when you log into the game you'll be logging into the same shard as everyone else. No choosing realms or servers; so no, "just add another server later". The OP was pretty lame, looked like a lot of troll baiting to me.
Eve is actually very different. Each system is considered their own "zone" and is setup on a different server. That is how they support one universe with every player in game. But that is also why the controls are less "twitchy" and more RTS focused then your typical MMO. They have to make up for the bandwith limitations. DF doesnt have over 5 thousand zones, and their combat involves more bandwith then Eve combat... which would mean to implement it like your saying would be near-impossible without them putting a cap on the zone "instances" like AoC did. Furthermore, DF has claimed to be one huge world WITHOUT zoning. This means it would be literally impossible to pack all the players on to one single world. The only reason Eve can do this is because each system is their own server.
BTW, I wouldnt just go by what Tasos says. He said many things that arent true. Such as the game was "ready to release right now" last year, and such as the world is going to have "Hundreds" of dungeons - from the leaks posted about a month ago they were only JUST STARTING to add and populate the dungeons. It's marketing at its best (or worst), it would be best off to wait for the actual facts then believe the marketing. |

Why dont you wait for the NDA, maybe then you will save yourself some embarrasment. The game may not be for you (i see you are a war fanboi) but that doenst mean it isnt a well made game that just needs the polish every MMO needs at launch (including WAR). ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. Yea Greece switched to euros... those BASTARDS! Booze is so expensive there now! These days I have to actually plan ahead financially to go on vacation, whereas in the good old days, I just went with loose pocket change and lived like a king for 2 weeks. *mutters obscenities under his breath* |

Think it through. If they are in danger of loosing any crowd after said crowd gets to play the game for any extent of time, they will WANT to rush the new servers out as fast as possible before said crowd starts leaving the first server. In fact if the game sucks as much as some people here are implying, all the more reason to rush those servers out before the playerbase catches wind of it.
