A team can never lose, even if it is defeated, as long as it remains a team.

Lol.

I hope your referring to the player crews and ship interiors, not the graphics.

Love the video!  it doesn't scratch the surface of what is possible though!

SQO is like a fungi pushing itself up slowly through the "cracks" in the industry!

It might not look good like a flower but deep inside it has a lot more going for it then most games and is already way more advanced then "the other one" we are talking about here.

look at it this way.. at least you have a choice now!

you can always try it out properly before you disown it just based on graphics.

High definition has been used for far too long as a easy way out of real game development

"Eye candy" just rots the brain....

OMG, those graphics suck hard.  Maybe 20  years ago they would have been cutting edge?

Music:  Terrible.  The guy sings like a cat riding a chainsaw blade.

Graphics: Even worse.  I've seen Commodore 64 games that looked better.

I'm sure you posted earlier pointing people to this video.  It was just as bad then.

Music: Is not a part of SQO. Kip added that himself, and he is a terrible singer. XD

Graphics: What would you rather have? 10 year old graphics with totally awesome devs, roleplay, player crews, ship interiors, most advanced space combat system using real space physics, a real starmap generated by NASA, .... or Perfect World graphics slapped onto Maple Story in space?

The video is new, believe me. Those camera angles weren't possible until very recently.

That is a false dilemma. Developers can do neither but a game with good graphics AND gameplay. I won't play any game that is deficient in either.

Why can't we walk around inside the ships with friends like in SWG? I mean freaking thats all I see whenever I see Star Trek is the inside of the ships and they can't be piloted by one person........

Doesn't sound very Star Trek to me, sounds like another failure of an mmorpg.

I have been pretty adamant about gameplay > graphics in many many posts and countless arguments. However you have singlehanded proven me wrong. The graphics is terrible. I could never play a Commodore VIC 20 graphic based game no matter how stellar the gameplay may be. i take it back..gameplay does NOT own graphics

I'm sorry, have you actually ever seen an episode of Star Trek? Or even looked over the STO website and looked at the details we know already?

For your information, you will be able to walk around the inside of ships and stations at launch. Granted they will only be mission based at launch (instances) but from the sounds of it Cryptic plans on adding the full effect of walking around ships (not instances) after launch. Oh and btw, since when can ships in Star Trek not be piloted by one person?

Agreed. For the most part, gameplay should be the focus, and if its is good, graphics shouldn't be the end all DOOM if they aren't perfect. But this, this was just horrible. I wouldn't touch that game with a ten foot pole, no matter how "good" its gameplay is.

Ships in StarQuest can be piloted by one person, why wouldn't STO be the same if they took the same route?

Until they open it up so you can walk around your ship anytime you like I and I think a lot of others won't be giving Cryptic one dime of our money to play a EVE/WoW bastard hybrid. If they have the interiors already programmed for instanced missions it wouldn't take a whole lot of programming to open them up all of the time. I would think after the stink this same announcement made in the community when PE did it Cryptic would know better but I guess they are doomed to make the same mistakes. Why are they doing this? Simple, pure laziness and a rush to get the game out this year. STO will be a rushed WoW/EVE hybrid at this point and will not do well apon release if they keep going in this self destructive direction. I had high hopes for Cryptic and STO and they managed to totally decimate them in the last two interviews. Unless things change I won't be buying this POS at release.

Edit: Oh and about SQO... I've tried it and think it's an OK game. What killed it for me wasn't the graphics though. The UI and control scheme is so confusing and just plain bad that I felt like I was battling with the game just to do the simplest tasks. If they would fix this I would probably give it a second go as graphics really don't mean that much to me. The problem I had was the gameplay was extremely bad due to the horrible control scheme.

Not a fan of Starquest but if all you give a damn about is graphics, then you can't rightfully call yourself a gamer.

How about if i give a damn about graphics *AND* gameplay. There is no need to choose. Just throw away the games that fail in EITHER one of the areas.

In regards to STO look at it this way... First they made the no player crews announcement which alienated a large portion of the Star Trek community. Second they made the revelation that the game would be episodic and heavily instanced which alienated a large portion of the MMO community. Third they leaked in an interview that there would be no interiors for player ships and player starbases which alienated a large portion of both the Star Trek and MMO communities. If they keep going down this self destructive path they will have about 100 people left that will be willing to play this game at launch. For such a strong start they have managed to screw it up at almost every turn. I find myself asking what's next? No ground missions? This game is obviously being rushed to market and all of us in the MMO community have seen what that brings. A buggy and shotty game with half of the promised features cut at release. Cryptic needs to smarten up quick or STO is doomed.

As for SQO I think I'll give it another go sometime soon as I've heard that they have made a lot of changes to the game since the last time I played. Hopefully they have fixed some of the things I hated about the control scheme that made me leave the last time. Maybe I'll make a comment here after I play for a bit. I really did love the concepts in the game just the very bad gameplay due to the control scheme drove me away the last time I played.

Camera controls are completely different, you can use arrow key movement now also.

Default controls are still the same as what they were when you where here last Bren, you have to change them under settings. Admins are still trying to figure out what the best settings are. (There are a ton of UI customizations you can make) Reticule and WASD movement still aren't possible, but at least its not forced point and click anymore.
