Eragon or something along those lines. With dragons, not just dragons as mounts, but dragons as a main part of combat. I give no mercy |

Shadowrun needs a MMO - no doubt! I heard of an interesting idea though. How about taking something like the Everquest or Warcraft IP and develop it into a Cyberpunk or Steampunk styled MMO. Wouldnt be all that different from Shadowrun and with the Norrath setting not too much of a departure to drag the Elf lovers away from killing wild boars all day. |

I don't know about specific fiction but I love variety so I want to get away from the fantasy setting and see MMO's that are: 1. Horror/Gothic 2.Steampunk 3.Old West Fallen Earth will hopefully satisy my desire for a post -apocalyptic game. Give me choice and gimme now! |

In This Order
*This is a distant, and I mean distant, third. The novel, which I read, is one of the most complex books that I had ever read. It is probably because I am not a tech-geek. |

Hmm not a lot of games series wanted :P I meant fiction as in any universe be it literature, game, anime/manga. I haven't read any concrete series since I was 12, just novels like The Da Vinci Code but that doesn't have what it takes to be a good MMO.

Here's a few I can think of: Animorphs Gundam Fallout Firefly Bladerunner Forgotten Realms Avatar And for the final suggestion, ReBoot--yeah, an MMO game about playing a videogame as a personification of the computer. Players could play as either a virus or a gaurdian, the primary dungeons would be the incomming games, limited pvp would be gaurdians vs viruses, and server realms could be linked together for RvR via "the internet". |

I like the number of people I see saying Bladerunner. That was my initial thought. Imagine such a pk world were you couldnt even tell who was a robot or a human and the consequences of such actions. Post apocalyptic and highly captivating. Dunno how they could to the main last scene in game justice tho Playing polished, lag free, feature complete games is carebear. Whining about a game you hate but still play is hardcore man! |

I agree with the idea of a Bladerunner MMO. Also with the Firefly/Serenity idea. Belgariad were horrible books and would make an even worse MMO, imo. I'm reading a series, the Hollows, now that would make an interesting setting. It's slightly in the future but has witches, werewolves, vampires, pixies, fairies, leprechauns, etc. There's also a human police force as well as the Interland (non-human) police force. Not to mention all the werewolf and and vampire factions. A friend of mine and I had thought an MMO based on the Dark Elves of Menzoberranzen could be interesting. But it would be largely RP'ing and guild vs guild. |

I would like to see a game based on the Blade Runner universe and Dungeons & Dragons done right and in a Forgotten Realms setting. I would love to visit the city of Balder's Gate again with a modern 3D game engine.

Call of Cthulhu Babylon 5 Anything Verne-great idea. Dune, Neuromancer, and Blade Runner would be interesting but I don't know if their 'universes' are big enough. |

I said it before, but Forgotten Realms. Forgotten Realms sandbox MMORPG would just be incredible (Action gameplay preferably). |

Dune all the way the prequels! With all the great houses, your guilds not to mention you get a cool mix of sword and shield fighting with space and projectile weapons and future tech. |

My two suggestions were just posted previous to my post. :) Dune - before the House series and after the Jihad -- Could be a different style MMO where it would be more of a political structure -- RTS style fighting with Sim like world development -- different players can form a house as different roles (it would be like a guild) There could be the Duke/King/Barron type that would lead then you could have various other player positions like Mentats, Generals, Diplomats. It would be a world of empire building in a MMO setting with a player politcal structure. Dragon Riders of Pern - So much you could do with this.. Different classes such as Dragon Riders, Harpers, Medics, Lord holders, etc... Plenty of backstory to develop. Cool events when the thread drop. :) There were so many books you could pull a crap load of cool stuff from... Avatar - My son watches that and I find myself strangly into the show. Good set up with different elements of power - Good story with the Fire Nation trying to take over the world. Could be a pretty fun game. |
