I used to have a tiny Frostmourne replica keyring (yes I am a horrible, horrible geek). Sadly after getting home from New York this January, I found a card in my checked luggage to say that it had been randomly checked. Mysteriously, the tiny Frostmourne had disappeared from my key fob. I can only assume that either they thought it could be used as a weapon and removed it, thought I needed to be punished for being such a geek, or had some equally sad WoW fans working in U.S. customs. Pointless anecdotes aside, it's a cool weapon, as is the lore that ties into it. |

Blizzard needs to chill with the legendary weapons. These items are a pain in the ass to farm for and once you get one a Xpac rolls around and makes all previous content obsolete. I myself have a thunderfury on my warrior, Not only was my 3 hours a day thorium farming for 6 months wasted when TBC came out. They actually nerfed my sword so crappy entry level epics could be better then it. Blizzard needs to let legendary items level with the user, make them even more rare. Last time i logged in using a ressurection scroll i sat my warrior in full dreadnaught and my thunderfury on a IF mailbox and just started dancing....... since its worthless its the only thing you could do with it. Some almighty weapon huh? frostmourne will have the same fate.

So... does this mean that there are going to be 10,000+ Frostmournes? Exactly how are they going to top that sword in future expansions? What a bunch of nonsense. _____ |

Before he left to the new MMORPG development team from Blizzard, K. also metioned that the 3.3 content patch would be about "Ashbringer" also a legendary weapon. Legendary weapons are there for the legend and the Lore. It's like a legendary Napoleanic Rifle: you don't shoot rabbits with it, but show off at friends and relatives. Only titles and mounts are "timeless" at the moment and a legendary weapon is just that: something to show off and a very special case lorewise. That's why we play MMO's and I am glad NOT all is ... +stats on gear ... even in WOW.

I kinda feel they need to sprinkle more lore throughout the world. I know, they do that already.. I just mean .. ya know, more. What Happened With SWG Went Down YEARS AGO! Please Try To Stop Whining About It In Every Thread I Read. Mourn It, And Finally MOVE ON With Your Lives! Thanks A Heap. |

a lvl 90 green will do kthxbye
This named weapon should only exist in once persons hand and that's the current owner. Just my 2¢. //|//|// |

I find it funny so many "Hard core" boys with Hard core mentalities are worried about what past and future expansions will do for a simple game item. The player with the boo-hoo post about some armor and weapon he spent hours farming needs perspective. Really big deal. When it's out, play, good luck getting it. Brag, whatever. When an expansion comes out that goes beyond what some geek-enraged players scream "THATS NOT LORE !" over...consider the current expansion is on par, or so I am told, with what the ending lore in WC 3 was. So anything past this expansion is up for grabs, as it will be lore unfolding. So, if a green surpasses a sword some mook spends all of his free time getting,he can't really complain as there is no more lore. So maybe there will be super greens, maybe not. Too many quality games coming out to worry about it.
If your having fun,at the time, what does 6 months or a year down the road matter ? Your going to spend the same amount of time going after the same rare-type weapons. So,enjoy the game fo what it is,niot what it was or what it may be
I digress. |

I for one see no problem with Legendary weapons becoming obsolete when new content arrives. Those weapons are legendary based on the current content your completing. I sort of think of it this way, In the 18th century people were carrying around what at the time was thought of as "legendary weapons" called Muskets. Currently if you were to carry a musket to war you will be mocked and shot with the now legendary M16. At the time of vanilla wow Thunderfurry was a bad ass weapon but as new content is released we come to find mere average weapons in northrend are even more powerful. I see nothing wrong with this and really the lore sorrounding them it can be argued that multiple average people can possess them. Frostmourne however is completly different and is much like the "one ring" in lotr where whoever weilds it becomes corrupted. I think it would be a joke to see multiple players walking around with it. I do however think it would be AWESOME if blizzard setup a world event where one player can possess the sword at one given time on a realm. Giving them unbelievable powers until they were vanquished giving the powers to another person on the realm. Of course this would be a short event something much like the zombies before wrath was released.

Why must a person that farmed for a legendary Item be called a "Geek" or "Mook"? I don't understand the need for the name calling like your some type of immature retarded chimp. I had my fun and even once TBC came around i tanked with that bastard sword all the way up to BT. It was goodtimes and now with WotLK they gave my warrior a cool rare achievement. Hell they made the gorehowl a epic item drop out of noob ass karazhan. if any weapon deserved to be legendary its the gorehowl. With the EZmode direction WoW has gone thy should just make all those items epic. Let the legendary items /questlines die with 40 mans.

For those of you being concerned about how powerful this weapon is and how this would work with any future expansion: Do you really think that this sword will fend off our worse nightmares if/when we make it into the Emerald Nightmare? Think this can fend off the even more evil forces that forged it within the demonic plane? This couldn't even possibly compare to a shard of Gorshalach! (*hint hint* to Blizzard) There will always be a weapon more powerful, just like the fact that there will always be player more powerful than you. Sorcereo's Arts! http://sorcereo.deviantart.com/ |
