First of all, you can not play EvE casually ( its not something you can solo ). Period.

As a casual player, you wont have a life "ingame", specially in a sandbox pvp game.  Without an "ingame life", lets say in EvE ( or DF ) , your just another mob to hit/slash. Games like EvE / DF(?) are not solo friendly. And guilds/corps are not "casual gamer" friendly. If your casual, you are doomed in these games. Thats it. Some games CAN NOT be played casually.

I don't think that Eve has anything to worry about. The people that I have met from Eve tend to be very level headed and mature, Darkfail's fans on the other hand.........

Baloney. There really are people who spend all their time in secure space orbiting asteroids mining and spitting out cans. It doesn't get any more casual than that.  It's nuts I know but they do it.

 

They are everywhere, yeah.  But we call them MODs or slaves or morons but not "players". As I said, they are just npcs to me .

You can call the anything you like but they're suscribers playing the game casually. You'll see them in Darkfall too.

I was excited about DF for a while ( lets say a year ago ). Not anymore. I myself is not a pvper either by the way. But I like challenge. Thats why i'm coming back to EvE always and that was why I was excited about DF.

Yeah, your right, EvE will grow. About DF, time will tell. I personally dont think it will release soon. When it does, we'll be in some other universe, playing a game created with some hi-tech graphic engine. Maybe we'll be kicking some alien asses at Jita IV,  while our star-ship waiting us to beem up at orbit ? Heh.

With EVE, curious to see how T3 ships will be implemented.

With DF hoping to see a dangerous world that you have to think and plan your actions and the world feels ‘real’. Anything is possible.

LMMFAO! Eve players encompass every walk of err personality type. The thief, liar, cheat, crook, preacher, cutthroat, politician etc etc ad infinitum. Dont presume to state that there is some magic halo going round there, maybe in the toilet bowl, and thats it. Nothing special about eve players, and they indeed mirror what you will see in DF if it opens. Got it? Good, shuffle off, Nurse Jenny in ward 13 wants to see you.

Er no.  EVE and DF are pvp games with large sandbox elements.  The similarities between the games and for the most part the player bases ends pretty much right there.

EVE appeals to a select player base due to a complexity that DF will never have.  Conversely , DF will offer players more of a chance to use their twitch skills to decide the course of battle.

There will be some cross over (i'll be one of them) but it will be difficult to compare the two communities.

U have to understand they are running out of arguments, DF is shaping up more and more, patches have already improved lag, fixed Weapon speed, blocking, magic damage etc etc.

All arguments now denied them, and since Tasos recently gave an interview they lost the "no communication" rant they where on.

But left with fewer arguments every day, they cling the few they have more and more agressively.

Although, the game distrubition has me a little worried.  I heard it was like a digital download thing anywhere from 8 to 16 gb down load.

I am not saying that developers should not release games complete and as bug free as possible. But we as a community are finicky. The point of this thread is, if its an 8 gig or 16 gig download and it takes you a week to download - what is a week compared to the 7 years it took them to make.

afaik  there  some scarce bugs at the client which is pretty damn stable (even though it runs at debug mode). There are also some exploits  which are countermeasured from the community (you macro, i kill)

digital dl is 8 gigs

plus,  get ready for the maximum ad&d experience (2nd ed with 3, 3.5 elements) you ever had in a mmorpg  ;)

ie raising strength will affect your damage . Weapon skill will affect your die roll and your thac0.

Appart from these elements, there is also the terra incognita  feeling, with uknown level enemies, unknown mobs and clueless level dungeons, which the adventure party might encounter and tottaly adds in the same direction.
