I had originally played Eve for a short time (about 1 and a half months.), and I left due to money restraints.
But now, I am making enough money, and I have tried a lot of F2P MMO's and none of them have captured me at all. I'm still trying to get Perfect World off my computer. Anyway, I remember Eve, and I remember how fun it was, so can anyone tell me if this game is worth coming back to?

IMNSHO, absolutely!
I've played many MMOs over the years, and really, when you get down to it, they're all pretty similar. Enough so that I'm completely bored of the lot of them. When a new one comes out now, I don't even bother to try it out. I've played enough WoW and CoH and EQ and Lineage II and many others to know what it's like, ultimately boring.
But EVE is nothing like any of them. It is a sandbox offering far more freedom than any of the rest to any player who is willing to learn its ways.
So, yeah, give it a shot. Leave your preconceived ideas at the door and be ready for a very different MMO. And arguably, the best! |

Absolutely. We just hit a record number of people online (over 51K), the largest alliance in the game (BOB) just got ganked from within, a great new expansion included a boxed release coming up in March, changes to new character generation, new Tech 3 ships, wormholes to new areas of space, a new npc alien race and of course, the holy grail, some day soon [tm] we'll have ambulation that will let us move around stations. I can't think of a better time to get started playing EVE. (well except a couple years ago like I did, but hey, don't worry about that, get started and get having fun)

I'm only about 5 days into the trial and I say: Yes. Why? Well, those 5 days have strangely impressed me. I came into EVE with the impression that it was a spreadsheet in space (and it kinda is, UI-wise). I wanted a game that my mediocre comp could run really well (call it vanity) and I thought, "What could hog less resources than a space game!?" So I tried it. It was a bit confusing at first but the community is helpful and I started doing the missions, which brought in ISK, which made things more enjoyable. I'm a relatively organized person - I like saying, "This is what I need to do, then this, then that, and finally get that damn Cruiser." So the prereq skill training and the logical progression of missions were right at home for me. Though, that's the one thing I slightly dislike - the monotony of missions. However, I'm playing WAR, so I have no problem with grind as long as its fun (which would really not make it grind, but try telling trolls that). And the missions are fun. Some are a cakewalk while others (fighting two groups of Angel Cartel pirates between Acceleration Gates...having them split into squadrons and gang up on you, which hurts like hell with missiles)...missions were really fun, even a standard "kill quest". I've met people playing 2 years or more which means this game can capture you in the short term and in the long term, so I'd say yes. Also it discourages altaholicism because to be effective at all you need to focus all your skill training on one char, and it could take months to get that char to where you want it and beyond. EDIT: I know I don't have much experience but I'm sure vets will come and back me up so don't get mad, I'm promoting your game

Honestly, ask yourself this: Say you start to appreciate how big and complex and truly AMAZING the Eve universe is. You work your ass off for a couple months and then spend all of your isk to get a decently fitted cruiser and some nice implants, then go off in search of new adventures. 5 minutes later you get your ass handed to you by a gatecamp.. they destroy your ship, loot and salvage your wreck, and kill your pod destroying your implants (yes this has happened to me and many people in Eve). You are back at square one with no money, no ship, and feeling rather foolish. Do you: A) Scream, yell, smacktalk, send hatemail, petitions, post on every forum you can find how much Eve sucks and then ragequit? OR B) Say "wow that sucked. Won't be making that mistake again, " dust yourself off, and take what you've learned to earn your next cruiser a little more easily? If it's A, then please stay away from Eve. We already have enough people clogging the forums that don't get it. If it's B, then come on in and welcome to the coolest game ever created. |

I understand the game has a lot of risk involved when you get your character to a certain point in the game. I find this to be a highlight feature. I do get pissed sometimes, but I do on any game. On wow, Im the type of guy who if I lose a duel to someone, I keep coming back until I beat them xD.
I'm also kind of looking for more challenge. I play wow on a PVP server, but still doesn't offer too much as far as tactics or in other cases, fear of having your character destroyed. If you get into a bad situation, you just have the worry of a repair bill and 10 minutes of rez sickness (which, sadly, is too much for some people now a days.)

One thing most EVE players learn is risk management.
I am a pretty conservative player, but I've been playing long enough to have a sizable amount of isk. I love to PvP and do every chance I get. But in order to manage risk in my conservative way, I PvP in frigates and cruisers in low sec space. I manage to solo some, and fly with a small gang a lot, but I get the PvP thrills I crave and still manage to conserve isk and have a great time! |

The game looks really nice now.

What he is really trying to say that eve isn't "Hello Kitty" online. Fun factor....oh yeah its there. It took me almost a year to get into a good groove with eve, sadly some peeps burn out early before they appreciate the depth of the game. Like everyone has been saying its the interactions with other players that really make or break the game for most people. Ive been in an excellent corp for over 6months now, i dont have to go out on pew pew and or missions every day to enjoy the game, its the people that make it fun.... |

Its a good game to play just dont get hooked to soon or you will burn yourself out. ive been here since beta. I played for the first 2 years like 16 hours a day. was in a good corp. then i got where all i was doing is logging on to skill change. then corp decided to do corp wars in safe space and i was hooked on pvp and came back for a short period. now i have deactivated my accounts and am not sure if i will ever play eve again. kind of sad to lay waste to 2 63 mil sp + characters with about 4 billion isk in assets and isk. |
