It`s grinding like no tomorrow, magic is useless, gathering is boring, animation is poor, the GUI is awful (accually the worst I`ve seen in any game ever), the aligment system is broken. Mele fighting is somewhat like knifefighting in CS, archery is fun, killing other players is fun, looting other players is the best, monster AI is good.

The only thing Df is good at is FFA full-loot PvP, and that`s why some of us like it. And yes I will preorder and play DF from just one good thing...FFA full-loot PvP.

If they chose to release the game 25 feb, I hope they will survive. I don`t think enought hardcore Pvpers will play this game at it`s current state. The number 300k is far to high imho.

How is the monster AI good? Is there something I'm missing on the videos? All I see them do is jump back and fourth and occasionally run away. Seems pretty random; but maybe I don't get it.

Yeah I'm having problems differentiating between advanced A.I. and stutter-randomly-then-run-to-range-when-low.

Maybe monster A.I. is off. heh, maybe that's a pretty horrible admission 2 weeks before release.

Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so as well.

I'd probably be losing interest...if I had any to begin with. As it stands, I'm on par with being indifferent.

Now that it is coming close to release and all these problems are coming to a rise after this insanely long production time and weird delays due to poor planning.

I just feel that for a game I have followed for the last 4 years I am kind of just not caring any more about it. Looking forward to next gen games and getting pumped for the coming releases and this one just doesn't seem to cut it as much as it would 2 or 3 years ago.

Am I way off base and need to get some more drugs to make me happy about it or are others feeling similarly?

I depends on what games you happen to have or not have installed on your computer at this moment in time. Me I am totally psyched about Darkfall based on the games I have installed and you seem very unsure based on the games you have installed. :)

No compromise, even in the face of Armageddon.

While I usually passionately fight against PK-games (I just feel it supports people shaping into a bad character), in this case it is safe to say only those will meet in DF who really deserve PKing, since with the name DF has acquired only those who seek prey will really play it. So they will all deserve each other, which also is some kind of justice. Maybe save the 1% idiots who still havent heard what DF is about, but they kinda deserve it too. TBH, I am far too carebear to rob the loot of some player, teh. It just would rob my sleep for years, but each to his, and here those who deserve each other will come together. Darwinism at its best. I guess its a kind of interesting social experiment if you want.

If the PKer community is a big as it's loud, this game might even survive, it is going to be sort of the ultimate test of this question. In that way I am curious to follow it from the outside how it goes. Personally I neither hate nor love DF, but since it aims for something... shall we say unusual in these days its sure an interesting experient to watch. IF it actually is released, that is. Personally as anti-PK-carebear-gamer I too hope the game survives, so we get rid of the PKers and griefers in the other MMOs, which may be a strange reason to wish you best luck with DF, but so it is. ;)

I love when I see you post on whatever game I am defending close to launch.  It is like a breath of fresh air usually.  I think that with a sandbox while it does allow the hardcore pk'ers and pvp'ers to act out their very disturbing dreams it also creates an environment where players pose a real threat more so than any other type of game.  From this threat comes the chance to form a group of players and actually fight for justice, hunt down pk'ers, protect smaller guilds, protect merchants, or form a guild around honesty and the pursuit of good that also really means something.

Just a thought.  The thing I love about sandboxes are the possibilities.  From Ryzom with it's amazing community and crafting to Darkfall with it's group of snarling pigmen I want to experience them all.

Well, I didnt mean evil, really. I am just surprised the DF forums are so full of anger and aggression, but my feeling tells me it does have something to do with PKing. It just makes ppl angry or put in emotional frenzies. I played SWG sandbox, and it was great, but these days I cant imagine doing that still. DF is a great oddity for me so I follow it with curiosity. I am *really* interested how its gonna turn out, tho I am 100% sure never to play it myself. Going to a MMO *knowing* you can be PKed practically everywhere, anytime is as alien to me as... I dunno... sleeping with women. (Sorry, bad pun.^^)

It sure is a demanding game. But it will put to test if there is room for more MMO schematics than EQ/WOW kind of games. So its a fascinating experient to watch... kinda like Big Brother is. ;)

Haha you are right about it being interesting.  Even for people who dont' like MMORPG's it should be a fun couple weeks around the forums.
