I know vanguard is still live and sadly taking a few players for their cash, but i was in beta and off and on for all of the time its been live. We players in beta tried to get them to hold off launch do to the many bugs and high requirements for gaming but know i see why they went ahead. They would still be in beta and no launch if they had waited. The money counters figured hey lets get the money will the buzz is still warm. I sadly spent $80.00 or more on the deluxe version praying they would be able to fix. Be it known i was in eq, eq2 coh, lotro, gw, etc all in betas and played eq most of the time till lotro. all had bugs. but!!! the developers quickly fixed them after launch. Sadly Vanguard has several times begged me to play for free and i can't even stand to do that. I have played d&d online, AC, FUNNY AC2 REMINDS ME ALITTLE OF Vanguard but at least Turbine had the balls to kill AC2. Hoped sony would fix Vanguard but i guess they spend all their time in swg , eq, eq2 because they all work and play well. Heck even shadowbane is better. Im currently playing WOW because im bored and waiting for darkfall to launch. Sadly i didnt get in beta yet but im still praying. Im sure Brad is somewhere in a bar drinking and hiding in shame.

The question remains. Why should you care if the game still exist or not?. How does it affect your life?. I feel those are more important questions to be asked.

Better Question is, Why did he create a Alt account to come troll our fourms...

You think he created an alt account over a year ago just waiting until now to make his presence known? If it's an alt account created for the purpose of trolling, he would have posted previously.  Sounds legit to me. He just finally had enough of Vanguard and SOE.

I liked AC2 and I like Vanguard.  I don't care that I'm in the minority.  If you don't like the games don't play them.

I know novel concept huh?

Oh and trolling this forum was old news ages ago, try the wow forums, lots of people here hate it and lots play it so you get better responses for your efforts.

Funny how he said they spend all their time in eq,eq2 and swg, when the devs in Vanguard have been fixing things and creating new content all of which they have been adding lately. And since they added the trial there has actually been a raise in population. This is a totally different game than when it launched. Normally I just roll my eyes at the ignorant posts about it, but they seem to be gathering in number recently, must be a full moon or something or maybe they are all just fanbois of darkfall or somethign else, trying to divert attention from that games failings and mishandling. But I totally agree, if you dont like the game, well guess what..no one is forcing you to play it and most troll posts like that just end up making you sound like some pathetic emo whiner searchign for attention. And so I agree with the poster above, go to the WoW forums, its alive and full of the same types.

I for one really like Vanguard and I am glad to see them working so hard to improve it constantly. Now I can play the game on max settings with no lag or hitching, where even in beta you almost had to stay on lowest settings to move around, so saying they havent done any work on it is ill-informed.

i came back to vanguard several months ago waiting for mines of moria to come out. i was pleasantly surprised that alot of things had been fixed and alot more content was added. i had quit playing maybe 2 months or so after launch so it had been a year or so since i came back. people were always on and i had several friends playing as well. i still think its a good game but i did get tired of it especially after that hideous grind to get the armour in vol tuniel.

Actually, when I read his post, I got the impression that he hasn't played since around release.  Sounds to me like he still has a grudge against a game that burned him a couple years ago and has very little clue as to what's changed since then.

I could never play Vanguard SOH now. Yes SOE has fixed a lot of bugs and performance issues but in the process has changed the game's original vision drastically. It isn't the great design that it was in the beginning.

They have tried to transform it in to a copy of EQ 2 which tried to copy WoW after release. I have not interest in what Vanguard has become nor do I care of the EQ 2 after the big revamp in the beginning.

Okay maybe i should further explain to some of you what i ment. One, at my age i don't dwell on a game. My point was as a developer , beta player myself its was just a player must not allow a company to just half way do a job. 2 , i stated in my forum many free attempts to lure me back, yes i tried everytime for a month or so. I do not agree that game is far better. Its like the after math of hurricane katrina. yes some fixes where made but alas many problems still remain.  I don't care if you agree or disagree. I play alot of games off and on just because i get bored and want a new challenge. But all i listed where playable games. Not a hodgepodge of useless data that any sound developer would just say that didn't work but this will. Many games know are seemless even AC WAS 10YRS AGO. Vanguard has a memory leak the size of the past White House Administration. Im sure some of you will again disagree and thats okay, its a free country. But don't attempt to try to get me to believe Vanguard is a thriving game with a sound game platform. I played just a few weeks ago, and various times in the past. Yes im sure ill try again for free. Maybe. Believe it or not i really want it to work. It has all a mmorpg needs as far as game ideas. i did like the newby starting area you had options to play. But once you left and entered the game it was still broken in many many places.  Please by all means play if you like it some people like to look the other way and hope it passes. Me i just like to fix problems. And have fun in my spare time playing mmorpgs.  Who knows maybe someday it will get fixed. Like maybe someday our earth will return to normal and climate change will be a thing of the past. That is if you believe in such a current problem we and our children face. If you think the world is okay and its just a normal part of Earths timeline im sure theirs alot of OIL CO'S , 3RD country factory owners , Big three Auto exe's who would gladly pat you on the back and say At a Boy for believing. Just like Vanguard Bean counters are doing know. Good luck with that. Peace.

First of all, no one is saying Vanguard is a thriving game.

And regardless of what you call huge issues (and regardless of you caring) I personally don't see them or haven't seen them. I have not experienced this memory leak.

I'm not sure if a memory leak is something that a different machine would experience differently or if it's dependent on where you are in the game bit the game plays fine for me.

I have seen bugs but they are so minor that if one truly wants to experience a different game with gamplay that is based a bit more on exploration then I can easily see them overcome.

I've played the game at launch, when sony first took over and my recent trial and the improvement is extremely noticable.

No, this game will never be WoW or LOTRO or whatever you want to name as a successful polished game, but it is not the train wreck that people are trying to make it if you approach it with an open mind. Players who require hand holding or a jam packed game world will have problems as it's a huge world. HUGE! I don't see where, with an extremely healthy population you would see many people except hubs.

If you are having technical issues then you are having them. Can't argue with that. But I don't think everyone will.

The game is a bit retro and take time.

If people are wanting to shout Looking for Group and expecting to get in one immediately they might have issues.

But for the right player this game can be a gem.

I am one of those disgruntled beta players but I am going to give the game a second try soon. LoTRO will still be my primary but I used to use EQII as a secondary game when I got "LoTRO" burnout but then EQII began to get old. AoC and WaR were dissapointing to me and I reallly am not counting on anything due out this year so as soon as I get some tiome to really give the game a good evaluation I will be giving it another try.

I miss DAoC

My advice would be to start at the new trial isle.

Also, since the game world is so large you should probably expect to spend a lot of time playing. To me, this is the type of game that a small guild who wants to have a more retro experience should start playing.

It is obviously affecting his life somehow.  Getting that upset over a game is strange, but he must face the problem head on.  If not, he could be doomed.  He needs to resub and see all the changes in the game and make an educated opinion, instead of a half-assed one.  Then he can heal and move on.  As weird as this sounds, it might be the answer.

Accept the quest, young Troll.

What people need to realize is that VG is a niche game that will never have a huge sub base.  However, to those of us who like what VG is, then it is a good game despite the bugs, flaws, etc.

I encountered a bug last night, but I didn't come running to the boards shouting that the game is doomed because of it.  It is a testament to the game that it has survived for two years in spite of the problems it has.

If you like exploration, thinking, reasoning, logic, problem solving, etc., and not having everything handed to you with only minimal effort, then you just may like VG.  Give it a try.  What do you have to lose?
