I'm not sure if anyone else has posted this, or if this is a dumb question to ask as I don't play many games any more so I apologize in advance for any stupidity hereafter. I'm a SWG veteran and ever since the game lost most of it's player base i've been looking for a similar game to play. Are there any other games currently out there or being developed that have a similar housing system, or some sort of a similar style that allows the player to enjoy so many abilities like open-sandbox play, or the ability to place a house relitively anywhere?

In A Tale in the Desert, you can build your camp just about whereever you want.  If you build too close to someone else's camp, he might yell at you, though. 

 may be worth taking a look at  darkfall and earthrise

Another sandbox game in development is CCP (and White wolfs) "World of darkness online" but there is little known about how housing will work there. Still it will be an intresting game

I have checked on Darkfall's progress sporadically but I haven't noticed any real change in it's reported progress, is it one of those destined to die projects or just tightly kept under wraps until release?

Well, they have been open up the beta for more players recently but who knows?

And they have started taking preorders so my guess is that they are starting to run out of cash and need to launch soon, 8 years development without any income is costly and times are bad now.

eta is the 25th for the eu servers with na to follow sometime after, however the servers are global

just a question of wether or not there are any more delays and what the finished project will be like
