Yeah I did a fanboi back flip when i read this shit! When you get blown up in your Tech 3 ship you lose the sub skill for a particular module to fly that ship. This game just became even more hardcore. No longer will the bastard fat cats in eve that make billions a day be able to just instantly replace a ship. those guys/gals are so rich eves risk is virtually nill, basically turning a ship loss into a minor repair fee. Now with skill loss they get owned just like the rest of us. Eve = even more hardcore.
God I love this game. The info was given on EVE TV and later responded to. the response is in the first post in the thread I linked. There will be a Devblog later in the week about it. Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

Link it you ol' coot. I cant find nothing from dev's words and nothing but threads QQ'ing about it. Currently Playing: |

i thought that the penalty for losing your ship was losing your ship. and it was a good penalty, losing a hac is pretty painful.
im not a fan of this skillpoint loss idea, but ill still fly tech 3. |

it was mentioned in the alliance tourny. I cannot really comment on the whole situation since i dont know exactly how much money you make in 0.0, but i did like the idea of painting your ship, and they mentioned there will be even more customizability in the expansion as well. EDIT: also they mentioned that if you eject before your ship dies, you can avoid the skill loss. |

well lets say you only need a special Tech 3 sub skill of rank 2 for a specific module. If you get blown up you lose those two ranks which is probably 2-3 hours of skill training. If the ships are cheap i dont mind the few hours of skill training. Also lets say you have a cruiser sized Tech III ship that would be 5-6 modules, When you get blown up you only lose training for one of those modules not all. its random. I just hope players arent stupid enough to train that skill to V. Losing a 10-25 day rank V skill would be funny as hell. Why would I play a pathetic themepark MMO when I could enjoy a masterpiece like Mass Effect, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Dragon Age? |

general rule of thumb is that really good 0.0, where you can chain uninterupted is almost as good as a mid quality level 4 mission runner in terms of isk/hour. 0.0 players are not all that rich unless they do nothing but rat (which is dull) or own loads of moon mining poses (which is dull). |

I think it is a great idea because the people who will be using Tech 3 in PVP are the richest of the rich. So losing their ships in big corps means nothing to them because they have so much cash that they can afford to lose 500million isk ships and not care. So CCP obviously had to put something in the game that they would care about losing and even if it is just a 5 day training skill, that still is annoying to lose so they'll be scared of dying again.

I agree with any kind of loss/risk CCP puts into this game (except perma death). So many players bitching about Eve going carebear, so CCP added in skill loss. I love it. A nice idea in my opinion. You're really not losing much at all, just a little time which is what you lose in any MMO anyways. |

why must i be nice to people that have no clue, are lying, or are just stupid? |
i'm sorry, i guess i missed the links for this information?
i mean, i saw, "someone said something in the tourney", which is um, yeah, that's wonderful. p/s though.
edit: were you talking about this? http://myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=971742 could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

My internet access is extremely limited at the moment, but from what I've read so far the skills in question will only be rank 1. Going from IV to III is only like 15-18 hours of training time with decent learnings / implants (which anyone flying T3 will have). Of course there's tons of QQ - CCP could say some dev decided that scratching his ass up and not down was the new way of doing it, and there would still be tons of QQ. But I think a light SP penalty, on top of the expense of T3 ships, is a good way to nip mudflation in the bud and keep T3 from eventually out-and-out replacing T2 for people wealthy enough to afford it the way T2 has with T1 (except in certain FW locations). T3 cruisers will cost as much as a cap initially, but I'm sure if wormhole exploration proves even slightly popular they won't stay that way for long. |

These T3 ships are modular. So I have a hunch you can fit them with mods to enhance resistances, armor values, etc, etc. When www met dot , they then stumbled upon Secret Society , wich happened to be a Guild , wich in turn told dot about the net . |
