So like the title states we all know there is adult MMORPGs out there but from what i hear their quality in other areas are less than spectacular.

So my question is if an Adult MMORPG had good gameplay and design choices (whether it be good PVP, questing, raiding, lore ... whatever you enjoy in an MMO)

would you play it?

What you mean a regular MMO with sex? Probably not, not that I'm adverse, but I doubt the community would be very good.

yes say take your favorite MMO qualities and add nudity, sex and other adult topics to it.

by the way I have never played an adult MMO but just from reading and what not i heard they arent very good. but i dont have first hand experience of it.

Yeah if you mean a sex MMO, then no I won't play it, regardless of quality it sounds boring.

And if you mean a MMO for mature audiences then, maybe, I would have to check that it really isn't just some preening adherence to "maturity," ie lots of gore cursing and boobs, because at that point the game feels more immature than anything, like The Witcher.

If it had nudity and sex tastefully added then I would.  If it focused solely on sex then no, it would be a giant pickle party.  A Mecca for 14 year old dudes all typing with one hand.

If you mean mature in the sense of blood, gore, language, and situations.   I'd probably be more annoyed by them than anything else, video game developers seem to have difficulty sensibly working those into the story/game.

im saying take a game like Conan where sex fit into the lore ...  but say the game was actually good (lol sorry AOC fans :p) . not just a game that has sex thrown in to it to make a buck but where it made sense.

Over time MMO’s have blurred their boundaries, I am sure that will continue, so your idea will only take time to become more of a reality.
 

na, wouldnt play it.  I also dont think most married or people very involved in a relationship would.

I'd play anything if it were polished and fun

I care about how fun I have when I play the game, I have no problem with sex, drugs and rock'n roll in a game.

I would play GTA online if it existed.

As I see it, fun is the only really important factor in a game, and many offline games do have sex and gore in them. I wouldn't play some boring porngame just about sex of course.

However I am european, most americans might care, you guys don't mind blood and guts but cursing and a boob seems to get a lot of people over there upset.

What exactly would be the point?

Example: If for some reason WoW required people to give a blood sample before they could play the game ruling out anyone who was 20 years old or younger making the game adult only, and then they had sex in the game.

So what... ? You're going to cut off a HUGE source of money for some silly gimmick?

No I don't think that'll ever happen with a serious MMO like you described would actually be fun to play.

Its just not logical.

Then again if you look at games like GTA and Fable, where sex is in the game but there is no graphical imagery of it. And THEN you have Second Life, don't even get me started on that crazy bullshit.

So your idea sort of is already in play, but I don't think theres a market for putting sex in Action/Adventure MMOs.

I just don't see it happening, I'm personally not opposed to the idea, but I just don't think it'll ever happen in a polished fun fantasy/sci-fi MMO.

'Adult Entertainment' doesn't have to be 'Porn' but usually is, especially on the Internet. The usual distinction for things that aren't automatically 'Porn' is to say 'Mature Entertainment'.

There are quite a few allegedly 'Mature' MMOs already so it seems unlikley that was what you meant

'CyberSex' MMOs aren't really games in the same sense as most of the ones listed on this site, so unless you really did mean 'Mature' rather than 'Adult', it's a fairly pointless question.

I don't see that kind of game really happening.

If you look at Second life, there is a hell of a lot of crappy porn game going on, plus some few roleplay  games (Note, not RPG, but roleplay, focussing on the socialising bit). some of these, especially the gorean ones, have strongly sexual themes, and seem to work well.

Generally, I believe in focussing strongly on the core game you want to make, as a developper. dont be "some for all", be "All for some". In that vein, I could see a game with sexual themes work, but the question is, is the market big enough ? Not for online sex, it certainly is, but for a sexually oriented story environment. I think most of the people that want online sex will go straight to the dating sites, to SL or to something like redlightdistrict. People that want games, will play WoW or similar.

The intersection set, i.e. people that want both, and want them mixed up, will go for a game such as the one I think OP describes. question is, if that intersection set is big enough.

I have to agree with Slaynn here. If it would be tasteful and fitting the lore and overall feel of the game, sure I would. If it is the centre of it, I would not..

As many have pointed out, it would be a playground for unsatisfied people diving into virtual sex - which usually is no fun at all.

Sex is a natural thing. It is our prime reason for existence on the evolutionary scale. It is a major social factor and tool for all higher primates. And personally I always thought that it should be part of computer games just as much, as it is in life generally. But since we don't handle sex very naturally anyway, it is no wonder, we cannot handle it in games either.

But you don't need a new game for tasteless sexual expression. Every MMO has been and will be a playground for sexual expression. The Boob-factor has been there and will be there anyway in most games.

The ideal MMO for an adult audience surly includes sex, but on a very natural basis, tastefully and homogeneously integrated.

Neocron is one of the best MMOs to date in my personal view and in between mutant hunting and large scale PvP there was one on one fights going on in backalleys in the red light district (Pepper Park) which was nothing short of a good night in amsterdam, people shooting up in the corner, strippers grinding poles, dirty suggestions for money and so forth.

I would love to see mmo's incorporate more sexuality in games.  With that said I don't think it would happen in the west until the mindset of americans change about sex.  Americans get upset with this subject in general (ewww sex is icky!), unlike the rest of the world.  It's so ass backwards, as one European pointed out earlier in the thread.   Blood n' guts in a game?  No problem.  But then everyone goes in an uproar about hot coffee.  This really only seems to be the case with games.  Sex in movies and T.V. isn't a problem. 

Sounds like a great place for men to dress up like women and dupe other men to believing they really ARE women....yea, no thanks!
