I don't think Darkfall is a controversial game. GTA, with the ability to hire a hooker, then run her over and get your money back, now that was a controversial game.

A flame war over a game between fanbois and trolls? Just another day on forums about MMORPGs. Now if you can hire a hooker in Darkfall, then shoot her with arrows till she's dead, loot her body  and take your money back, then we have some controversy.

Your damn right I do.  He is one of the most prolific trollers on this board.   When someone spends as many hours a day as he does on a forum to trash a game he is not interested in and has no intention of buying, you bet your ass I will question his motives.  The man obviously has some sort of personal agenda / vendetta towards the game and it hasn't released yet.    I would recommend some therapy and a new hobby.

 The blame I'd say really is with Aventurine though, they could give their fans facts instead of PR BS, they could drop the NDA (after all the game was feature complete and more ready for launch then most games back in Dec 2008.  I'd still argue that the fans hype will do more harm to DF then good, but one has to admit all the mystery Aventurine has wrapped DF in has been a big PR plus for DF.

Come off it Zaxtor99, the only people who would agree with your definition of vaporware are those who have previously said that DF is vaporware and are now seeking to retrospectively change their intended meaning.  I don't care what it says in wikipedia as that is not the common definition of how people use this term and you know that very well.

It is quite clear that people who have accused DF of being vaporware have done so implying that it will never release, they have yet to be proven wrong as it has not released. 

This kind of skullduggery makes you guilty of exactly the same kind of behaviour as that which you are complaining about.

Why would I debate someone who has a personal vendetta against the game and spends hours on the forum trashing the game that he will never play anyways?  It would be a tremendous waste of time and energy.   He had had 3 of his last 5 threads locked for trolling and bashing, posts super melodramatic thread titles, and acts like a fool.  

It's like a vegetarian hanging out in a Burger King trying to convince everyone else not to eat meat.   Nobody is going to be convinced, and it comes off a childish and stupid.

 Yes i wonder why? So why haven't you posted them? really I'd like to think we are talking about facts here. So if someone is saying DF is bad with some negative leak, why do the fans not post the positive leaks?  Fair enough, good points and well put. Notably this does put the fans at a disadvantage, but to a certain extent i think the fans tend to over compesate with the troll lable, and Inflated/extreme Hype. One would think dropping the NDA would be a good move to counter both extreme sides of the agruement, but for whatever reason that does not seem likely to happen anytime soon.

You're putting up a strawman here.

You can't argue the facts he's posted, so instead you're going after his "intentions" and "post history"; as though that somehow invalidates what he posted.

It doesn't.

Regardless of what you feel his "agenda" is, or his post history, or what color socks he wears while posting.. or his favorite food... or whatever... facts are facts.

You can question his motives all day long, and you could even be 100% right. Regardless, it doesn't make the points he posted any less factual, nor take any of the wind out of what those facts, when considered as a whole, say about DF's development to date.

So, yes, saying "well he's a troll, so anything he says is suspect" is a pretty weak rebuttal.

I started this thread the other day with the original post. Now we have almost 250 posts in this thread. Looks like about 40 posts have been completely deleted from this thread. Almost all of those posts that have been deleted have been removed because of personal attacks against me, name calling, etc etc.

I have yet to see any fan or anyone else for that matter try to validate anything I stated and provided links to in my original post. No answers. No sensible rebuttals to any of the untruths Tasos has told his fans over the years.

But what he have got is tons of lame excuses and I've been personally attacked like I just called these peoples own momma a bad name.

Is this really the kind of community that will be playing Darkfall anyhow? And I thought the WoW kiddies were bad, sheesh. This thread might be the single worst thing going for Darkfall actually. And nothing I posted about Tasos is what I am referring to. ..Just imagine how some of these same DF fans will react if they are playing Darkfall and get Pk'ed and looted of all their stuff ten times in a row. I mean I'm serious. If they can't even attack the posts I made against Tasos, but rather want to attack me and my intentions and all.

Maybe I am like the Terminator movies. The fans have been hollering for years about how great Tasos is, want to rant about every word he says like it is Gospel. They invade other forums and put down games like AoC and Warhammer, and World of Warcraft, and even LoTRO.

..For every action, there is a equal and opposite reaction. Perhaps I and other such skeptics have been sent here now to oppose the insanity and blindness that seems to be coming from the most rabid Darkfall fanatics.

There is truth in that.

This stuff is bound to happen. After being in "development" for god knows how long the game is finally going into beta. All the hype created by its community and fans are gonna catch up to it now. This game will make Too Human look like a blockbuster super hit. Atleast we'll have a new bar set for the most disappointing/overhyped game in history

  Yes it is possible if you have a halfway decent computer. I used to have big battles back in WoW with over 100 players on screen and I didn't go below 60FPS, and this was with my old comp 1gig ram, 128mb Video...

Now, I could easily see 200 v 200 and stay at 80FPS.

Lol zaxx, I think you're jumping to conclusions a little by judging the community base of darkfall just off some of the rabid fanbois. All the MMO's have them, DF just has alot more vocal ones atm because it is very close to release and very hyped whether good or bad. I think the actual ingame community may be much better than what is reflected on forums. I don't even want to start to get into what % ratio of people playing MMO's actually account for a rabid fanboi forum base. Because you would probably be looking in the .000 decibles.
 

Regardless I remain skeptical on the outcome of DF and its upcoming release. One thing I do know very very well is the difference between forum hype/talk and actual ingame.
